Yessssss. I grew up thinking of him as all the girls biggest crush of their life playing his hit pop songs. But I wish I had realized this was who he truly was.
He has been quoted before saying that his shows are basically playing the songs that he wants. He of course tries to play his new songs and such but he plays the songs that are fun to him
Yeah and it all comes back to who you knew growing up. SRV was his version of Jimi and John Mayer is a fusion of both plus his own. Thats how music works. there are a lot of modern sounds in that rendition.
Man I feel like I missed so much of John Mayer when I was growing up. I just knew him as a pop star that all the girls loved when I was in high school 15+ years ago. But this… this right here is the true John Mayer playing the music he loves the most. Taking what I think is the perfect song ever (Jimi and SRVs) and making his own amazingly perfect version of it.
Improv is the best here is. I must say i love Jimi can't life without. John Mayer realy jimi would be proud man you kick ass and the beautu of it is a mix of John Mayer him self steve ray Vaughen en Jimi Hendrix and i dig it is so sweet to my ears it rwaky makes me cry . Like Jimi makes me cry and thank you fot that❤🔥👌
It's amazing that Jimi basically made that Monterey Strat to just smash it and throw it away and it became one of the most iconic Strats of all time. When Fender done a Custom Shop version of it I think John Mayer and Kenny Wayne Shepherd were two of just a VERY few people that were able to get one. It's almost 30 grand now if you can find one!
favorite part gotta be the lady at 1:45 saying “ oh my god “ when johns voice starts ringing out the intro, later you can hear her asking her friend who’s song this is, gotta love live shows!
@@leroyjenks2014 yeah, people idolizing just because he came before, but Mayer really holding back, you can tell when he doesn't he suddenly plays licks straight out of death-metal speed, then chills back to his commercial.
nah. reusing someone else’s work sure, it has to be better to say the least. but coming out raw, making your own. jimi is waaaay on another level. just listen to all jimis albums. nothing like it ie band of gypsys.
@@f.i.l.d.e.p.s i wouldn't call it reusing, because they didn't copy it fully, so i'd call it taking inspiration and they did a great job, because if jimi did a long version of this on live he would've used some feedback technique and would be the most unique and probably the best version if ever. and we should stop discrediting artists who did a nice job because someone did it first. Music is not competition its an art
Man, you need to get out more if you really believe that's a true statement. Here, you can thank me later. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CXwlww_chy4.html
@@BlueButtonFly Hi, i took the lossless audio file available to build this video and tried to keep the original quality intact as much as possible; other uploads of this track on youtube have some heavy lossy audio
Man he is a solid guitarist and musician and I’ve listened to him a lot. He pays tribute to the greats but something is just missing in his playing and music. It’s technically good, catchy, and clever but there is just some substance that he can’t produce, something genuine soulful an heartfelt that his music lacks.
@@poltad well, slow dancing live in LA was pretty soulful. But I partially agree, none of his studio tracks really moves me. He can be great live though. Nevertheless, he's one of the most talented musicians alive
Please let me know when you post your next (first) YT video, as I'm sure there are multitudes of fans waiting to hear your impressive talent, I know I can't wait to hear from you!
@@michaelware2646 he didn’t say he could. why do people immediately jump to this argument? are you not allowed to criticize without posting your own videos to youtube? this is beyond dumb. every has their own opinion.
