Fella, I said Mayer was a fine guitarist and a horrible singer for the Dead It really is not about who you meet as long as what you do is very good, because good work meets folks for you And doing good work quickly is the best trait of all and will put you before the most powerful people on the planet Your music is whiny and lacks soul I do not know what to say You are a fine musician You just need that depth You have nice structures or ideas for notational direction, but when you get out and make the thing, you fall flat There is a clinical coldness to the emotional notes that breaks the spell Doing a fine job at musicianship is twice as good as trying at all, but your music will only grow into itself if you fill it out with some inner essence I really think there is a mindset change (and some more practice and experimentation) needed to give you better grooves and melodies. You have to set your aim differently, because you are doing at-best-mediocre so well that it comes off as lazy.
