I have a soft spot for almost every other Mayer song that didn't get famous.. Covered in rain, come back to bed, edge of desire, St Patrick's day, dear marie, badge and gun and all the songs from search for everything.
I love the fact that John turned that feeling inside airports into a song. Airports have this... Aura. This presence in them, this emotion in them. If you're in them too often, you tend to get desensitized to it. But, there are so many goodbyes, so many welcome homes, so much sadness, so much happiness and joy... It is in the air, in the soul of those buildings. You feel it as you walk in.
This is probably one of his most under rated songs hes ever made. Heavier Things was a very close second to Continuum for me. There is so much metaphorical and poetic articulation in his music its just genius.
+cayaaaaXx I think he still does. He usually goes to play without prior notice or a short notice as a surprise show, sometimes not even accepting any form of payment.
Danielle MacGyver Gardiner I think just having connections directly/indirectly with John would do I guess. Also, the places where he does these kinds of things are the places where he used to play when he wasn't as famous like Eddie's attic. I forgot the other places he plays at
Something about the lyrics " I won't be the last, no I won't be the last to love her" and "you won't be the first, no you won't be the first to love me." Is chilling and kind of heartbreaking for me. This whole song is very somber and it fills me with so much emotion. John's ability to make you feel his music is astounding.
Absolutely. 6 years late, but I always thought it’s heartbreaking how we think we have “the one,” but, ultimately, it’s just another relationship in a long line of relationships, for both parties. It’s heartbreaking because, really, it IS more than that, but we have no choice but to keep moving, like a wheel.
This is the John Mayer that inspired me to pick up a guitar. The John that played covered in rain on the Any Given Thursday DVD concert. The John that put out Room for Squares and Heavier Things. Don't get me wrong, I loved John after the Continuum era, the John Mayer Trio, and further out, but the old John Mayer will always have a special place in my heart. His music presented itself the same year I turned 13 and helped me all throughout those teenage years.
+TJ Hooper I was just reading through the comments and yours is exactly on point with how I feel about John. The solo from covered in the rain to me holds his identity in my heart.
TJ Hooper there are 4 reasons I am a musician: miles Davis, Jaco Pastorius, Amy Winehouse & John Mayer. He's got sick. Appendicitis, I believe. If he were to die I'd stop playing & listening to music. I cannot express my pain when the other 3 died. I recall every detail around hearing the news about the other 3 (deaths). A MAYER PRAYER: Don't go where the light is yet. Stay & cont. to be the light, JM
John, you were absolutely slaying it at this time of your musical growth. I have appreciated every album with every change of season in your life but you grabbed a lot of folks during these years
I almost had to do a double take when I got the notification that this had been posted. I was confused that he released a music video for a song that came out over 10 years ago, but I won't complain. A friend passed recently, so this song has been on my mind a lot. Really just a beautiful song, thanks John.
This was my early morning, once again heading to a job I hated song. It really helped calmed me down and start the day in peace. Heavier things is my favourite album. It's got so much depth. It helped me get through alot of things and still is. But I can honestly say that about every album. He always has a song for whatever I'm going through. God I love John Mayer!
Thanks to JM's timelessness, this song is still a heartbreaker in 2022! So sad, sad, sad. I believe with JM that all the love he's been giving will return to him, to us all. I wonder whether love was intended to be so hard, but then we wouldn't have all of JM's 'hurt like a song' Sob Rock music that we love so much. I guess we can survive love after all. God bless JM. I love him! He is a Master, the Man and the King ❣🌟💎👑
I love how his musicality has expanded over the years, but I often find myself going back to those old albums and the hidden songs with the unfathomable lyrics! Ones like Wheel, St Patricks Day, 3x5, Love Song for No One, Walt Grace’s Submarine Test, Split Screen Sadness, Great Indoors!!
Not gonna lie, this took me right back to 2003 and stirred emotions I'd all but forgotten. This is music I grew up on & with, and presenting it today just. . . Brings me back to a far more innocent time. I guess that really is "The way this wheel keep working."
+Phillip Sullivan This song is from 2003! Which you may know already. But yeah, he's not very heard of today... He said earlier this year that he's working on a "deeply personal album". Nothing is confirmed but I'm hoping for a late 2016 release at it's best :P
actually this song is really old, from his second album. and yeah, 2013 was when he released his most recent album, Paradise Valley. he is planning to release one in 2016
+Phillip Sullivan He's currently touring with Dead and Company and in the process of making his new album. Still around, just not in the public eye all the time, which is a great thing for him.
+Rikard Holmqvist He's touring with Dead & Company (The Grateful Dead) right now and getting back in the studio with the Continuum gang to record LP 7 in January.
This song is so beautiful. He has an ability like no other contemporary artist to sing about what he's feeling in such a profound way that you understand what he's talking about and you're able to immerse yourself in his songs with a striking intensity.
I could fall asleep watching and listening to him sing and play everyday and never get tired of it. It’s beautiful to just sit and watch and listen. So much gifted talent… 💚💚💚
Think people may be looking into this a bit too much. John has his own RU-vid channel, this Vevo channel is not directly controlled by John himself. If he was trying to 'say' something he would most likely would have posted this on his 'own' RU-vid channel.
Dad’s on his way out, and some of these lyrics have been stuck in my head: “someone’s last goodbye blends in with someone’s sigh” “it’s just a season thing…” “you can find me, if you ever want again i’ll be around the bend…” “and if you never stop when you wave goodbye you just might find if you give it time you will wave hello again”
Life is really a Wheel. Completely agree with u Mr.Mayer.I'been wodering these days if i'll have the oportuniy seen u performing live..but know what,m maybe the true meaning of your music is not to be seen but to be listened.
Beautiful you.. known by so many, yet by so few. In another life perhaps, I could of known the true u, minus the noise, just not the sound, my heart beats to that sound. such beautiful sound. Thank you for all that you are, it's beautiful, every piece every part. from: the heart.
Very Underrated album in my opinion. Would love to hear some of those earlier ideas really come to fruition on the new album. I've always loved that John could jump around a lot in his sound but I also know that his signature record is yet to come.
@@joschiwiesbrock7782 it's his SRV strat actually that he's owned when he was 17. You can tell because the 64 has some relic on top of scratch plate and the tone of the SRV has a scooped mid sound. This would have been around 2003/04 before the trio.
@@joschiwiesbrock7782 it's his srv signature strat that he bought in high-school. But I can understand your confusion as it does look quite similar to the 60s strat that he has with the pickgaurd and all.
