Your immersive video was a pleasure as always. So good to be given enough time with great video to feel as if I was there. Must have been good to see your trail work of many years ago still paying forward for hikers. Balloch might make a great start for the West Highland Way (I don't know about the paths from Balloch to join a point on the formal route, but I would happily take the steamer to Balmaha or Rowardennan to kick off the hike). Not a purist here, as you might guess -- I like to maximize the experience rather than the miles.

Thanks! It's pretty satisfying to see it still working after all these years. When we were on site walkers were a very rare thing, but it just shows how having these waymarked routes can make a difference. It was really busy with walkers up there! It would be very possible to start the WHW from Balloch. One alternative would be to use the Three Lochs Way to Inveruglas then get the water bus to Inversnaid. The other would be to follow the John Muir Way - it has a "multi use" and "walking" alternative. The multi use meets up with the WHW not far from Drymen while the walking route is a bit further out the way, meeting close to the start at Carbeth.

Like the view through the trees at 21.05. Best wishes out there.

Thanks for watching. I was only getting short bursts of film there from the battery. I suspect that the camera wasn't a great fan of the cold weather! It's a good lesson in making sure that I carry spares

Helensburgh is such a lovely town. It also feels like a gateway between the urban sprawl of Glasgow and the wilds of the hills to the north. There's so many hidden gems in the area!

Yes. I hit road resurfacing on the A814 at the Naval base . Forced to back track to the A817. My Helensburgh to Lock Lomond vlog needs sunglasses , just beautiful. The hills are just perfect for Hiking over@@blackcathiking7831
