And honestly I think he does his solos better live, his tone is always sorta "off" to me on records, but seeing DT live and hearing him here his live tone is perfect
Those guys clapping at 2:42 are living the moment, how it should be. The guys in the back are the guitar critics, which I can't relate if they are enjoying a bit what Mr Petrucci is playing. This solo is fantastic! Thanx for uploading this one!
Such amazing tone and feeling, let alone technical proficiency. Always been in my top 2 most influential guitarists along with David Gilmore of course being at the top for me. Love his ibanez days as well with Kevin at the keyboard.. good times
THE BEST GUITARIST IN THE HISTORY OF WORLD MUSIC... ❤️👑 It's not all about the technicality it's about how you write a great song with it... Petrucci know the perfect balance between shredding and melody and that makes him the best of all time...❤️👑
What I wanna know is why he sounds so much better live than on the records, like gear/recording wise Heard him live once with DT and it sounded amazing, like basically my ideal large venue guitar tone but then on most records since FII or so it just sounds....empty or so, at least when he's trying to play "emotionally/epic"....guess the ending of Octavarium might be an exception to this, although it would probably still sound better live
I am a guitarist but i tell you, I watch John Myung a hell of a lot...what a fucking master!! But then...everyone in this band is..but I can say I am not a fan of the singer, my old singer sounded exactly like him and every song he did, sounded the same just like JL.
@@tomschmidt4355 Sorry; about who? I think I have almost all Pink Floyd and for sure all Dream Theatre albums, both John solo and all three Liquid tension experiment albums. And, by the way, I saw John three times live
@@marklavric8323 What I meant is, seemly you haven't heared about all those many GUITARISTS, who have the same level and skills of playing brilliant and emotional like John and David.
This was terrible...idk what he was trying to do but the improvising and ad libbing just didn’t work during the slow parts. The fast parts were definitely better but not as crisp and clear as the album.
@@Alessio-fl9mb Lol come on, you know I'm right. And before the "bet you can't even play it" insult comes in, yes I can -- instagram.com/p/B2uIwf3HxB9/
I understand what "if petrucci was mind, portnoy was heart" means now. There's so much thought in that crowd but joy was not one of them. I see more people being entertained in jazz concerts. It's heart breaking seeing your once favorite band come to this... You can't imagine how sad i am.
