In this video, @DrBillRoach engages with John Piper's video with @desiringGod to discuss why we should still be committed to Piper's vision of the Christian life. He reviews this video: • You Have One Life, Don...
I have read Piper’s book “Don’t waste your life” and He makes me want to boldly serve the kingdom as if that is all that my life depends upon. It’s impossible to do it alone and I appreciate how your testimony confirmed that it is within the context of the local church that spiritual champions take hold of the blessing that the Lord has called them through faith and obedience to his word!
I'm not much of a John Piper fan, but I can tell you what most inspired me to ditch living for comforts and to begin living fully for Christ and His gospel. I was diagnosed with a chronic but non-fatal disease. From the time I was diagnosed I sensed an urgency to preach the gospel like I'd never felt before. My condition causes me to face very uncertain circumstances related to it, and my life expectancy has been reduced by several years according to this particular condition's reputation. The simple fact is this; you never know when you will come face-to-face with death, or at least, with an event that drastically alters your future outlook or prospects for longevity. Bottom line; ditch the temporal and embrace the eternal. God bless you all.
And God must also preach the gospel of repentance for the forgiveness of sins through the once for all blood sacrifice of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ… by the mouth of simple milkmaids. The missionary will go to the ends of the earth but the neighbor who loves according to Christ’s unfailing love can convert the preacher from darkness to light so that his faculties advance the kingdom greatly. A spark in the tinder starts a raging fire.
