I’m currently reading Voltaire’s Bastards, it was my father’s book. I wonder what John has to say about Trudeau… and his father’s legacy. In such difficult economic times we see many new comers feel they have been lied too about what Canada hold for them & their loved ones. They’ve uprooted their very existence only to arrive to abject poverty. The smart ones with the means are turning on their heels and leaving in droves… along with Canadians! Toronto’s mayor has just hiked property taxes by the largest percentage ever, and is threatening to add more to that hike if the federal government doesn’t do its fiduciary duty of paying the expenses of welcoming & settling refugees. There’s a palpable fear of Canadians that the large numbers of refugees & immigrants coming in in these trying times is watering down our democracy, as they will likely be liberal voters in exchange for they’re being let into the country despite the federal government’s slacking in their responsibility of them. All at a time when a large number of hard working Canadians struggle to keep their roof over their heads & food on the table. This is all a recipe for disaster! A financial meltdown & a massive social divide. Our federal government is fumbling so badly with finances & our rights and bloating it’s ranks to unbelievable proportions (30% of the job sector!) … that it no longer feels like a social democracy. The walls are closing in!
