On this special presentation, we travel to Cumberland Maryland to ride the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. Are first day starts out by exploring Cumberland. We see the CSX Cumberland Roundhouse, & Shops based there, & visit a very nice train store.
Then we go to the Western Maryland Cumberland Station to catch are train. The locomotive pulling the train is Western Maryland 734 (Lake Superior & Ishpeming 34). The train ride takes us from Cumberland to Frostburg & back again, all the while passing beautiful scenery. After the train ride we drive over in to West Virgina to try to see WM 734 & there newest engine Chesapeake & Ohio 1309. But there was no such luck. So we decided to drive up in to the Sand Patch Line west of Cumberland Maryland. After exploring that area, we drove back to are hotel in Cumberland to sleep. Then the next day we woke up to chase WM 743 on it's passenger run to Frostburg. We even caught it on Helmstetter's Curve. After that we drive north from Cumberland to Altoona PA to see Helmstetter's big brother the world Famous Horseshow curve. We catch 2 more trains there. Then to top the trip we end it by going to the Gallitzin Tunnel's in Gallitzin PA to catch Amtrak's Pennsylvanian on its way to Pittsburgh PA.
