We joined the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad during no. 1309's test runs in Cumberland, Maryland and here are the highlights from days one and two. This former Chesapeake & Ohio steam locomotive is the first compound mainline locomotive to return to the rails in the railroad preservation era! #1309 #westernmaryland

Now, if CSX would just do like the like the UP, and get 1604 out of the museum, and rebuild it for mainline excursions! Congrats on this one guys, it looks great, even in WM markings! What's that squeaking noise those?

Honestly, 1601 up in Michigan would probably be better to restore. It's been inside protected from the elements for the last 60 years and the B&O Museum already gave up one big C&O steamer with WM purchasing 1309. But,1604 is definitely available if they went that route.

@@hawkeyeten2450 Would it be the best for the WM though? will it pull bigger trains without a helper? Will they get the money out of it? They're reason why 1309 was picked over some other engines.
