@@Casually_Him It's not facts. AD is just about the most agile 6'11 guy ever. And he plays physical basketball. When he does the same moves as guards, he falls down as often as guards.
WE NEED MORE JOHN SALLEY ON THE GAP!!!! PLS!! PLS!! PLS!!! Dude is a historian he's funny he's refreshing is his pov is just different from how we usually hear basketball takes💯
He makes up stuff. Combine that with Gil, and the content that's based on facts gets slim. And Salley's views are different, but usually illogical. That might not be entirely bad, though.
@@MARZOSIRUS Bench player on the Pistons, Bulls and Lakers and won everywhere. Those teams saw his value even as a bench player. DO you know what it takes to be an NBA player, yet an NBA player for close to a decade and win multiple championships?
@adetayoolowu4650 In those days they just used big bodies to clog up the lane, rebound and rim protect. So he had no more value than any other 6 foot 11 guy. No offensive moves whatsoever. Just a body is all he was. So 7 pts a game, 4.5 rebounds a game and 1.2 assists for his career. Whoopty fucking doo.
When Gil isn’t saying stupid things to get clicks , he’s actually a very intelligent basketball person… how he talked about coaching was really good insight to how better players see the game and the bigger picture
He actually does this more often than he's given credit for. You say this now probably because this topic isn't tribal. If the topic was Lebron, MJ, Celtics or some other topic people have feelings attached, they'd called his legitimate takes stupid just because they disagree. That is what the real problem is, not his takes.
FALSE - that's just not true. It's been discussed multiple times years ago including by Shaq himself here in a long form discussion on the decline of the big man. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8mFqvJNwXVA.htmlsi=i1aN9-1spsMuJ44l
that was a key point Rashad said, I heard NFL and NBA players say, you just dont turn it on when u tryna be great, u playing in practice u definitely gon play in the game, patterns repeat 💯
When his been serious & not saying dumb shit for clicks yes. Awesome podcast. I think Sally amongst older heads bring that over him @mark jackson episode.
Injury prone bigs are told to land on there butts rather than their knees to try to keep the weight off of it , y’all are dumb if you don’t understand that by now
This is what I love about streetball. No referees, so we never played for a whistle. We just fought through and tried to get the bucket. I kinda have no respect for trying to draw fouls.
That’s the stupidest shyt I’ve ever heard in sports!! He putting hisself at more of a risk of a injury by hitting that hardwood at his weight and size 🤦♂️
@@allgasnobrakes919PLF. Parachute Landing Fall. It’s a technique used by Airborne personnel in the Army to reduce the impact while landing during an airborne operation to prevent injury. Not saying it’s taught in the NBA but it’s absolutely a thing.
@@allgasnobrakes919it’s not stupid if most of his injuries are in the lower extremities. There is a way to fall properly to distribute the force of impact. It’s why people that jump from high places roll on the floor on impact.
Gil is a gem. And if not a coach, he needs to be an analyst on his platform and a larger one. He’ll get there… incredible basketball mind. And respect to Sally for recognizing
I 100% agree with the fact that Embiid style is wild…he is undisciplined and stays hurt because he doesn’t play with purpose…he’s flash and bang…the flash is the jumping and falling like a guard and the bang is his knees/eye, etc…great talent just undisciplined as a big man
I think Gil would make a good assistant coach. Not only would he make a tough coach, he can also demonstrate what he’s preaching cause he can still get out there and put up shots or even run some games on the court. That’s one thing I like, is when coaches can get out there and practice with their guys
Holy 💩. Just realizing that Gilbert’s usually “in character” on the show. Today we saw the REAL Gilbert, and he’s psychopathically competitive. All the jokes and the laughs, that’s a character he plays…
It's crazy when old players make it like their generation was so physical. If everybody was like that, the Bad Boy Pistons wouldn't of stuck out. So no, y'all wasn't tougher, the pistons and Charles Oakley was
Well... some of the regular season, maybe. You won't get past round 2 in the playoffs, if you don't know two playbooks. There's also been a shortage of defense outside the playoffs, as well. But that's changing.
Quickest way to get me to never see a single second of anything you ever have to share is drop a "no diddy" You a grown ass man, dude. That homophobia sh!t needs to be left back in highschool. Peace.
The game has evolved. Just 5 years ago AD would be a PF like Kevin Garnett. True centers aren’t playable in this league anymore unless they are facing the same build on the opposing team
Thats a great question Salley, cuz it's common sense. If you a big man playing more like a guard you put yourself at more risk if getting hurt when the common excuse for being in the post is. " They dont wana bang inside" (pause). But they dont realize they getting more injuries not being inside for common sense buckets, less movement, more skill.
Old heads: they’re too friendly… Me: What about Magic and Bird? Old heads: That was for entertainment Me: what about Jordan? Old heads: That was mind games 🤦🏿♂️
I've seen Embiid fall a lot trying to get a call. In the closeout game this year, he had three great quarters, then in the fourth just started falling down when he had the ball.
They are on the floor, when they try to do guard moves. AD, just because he usually has the agility to pull difficult moves off. Embiid is on the floor, because he tries to flop, and because they are guard moves.
They dropped the ball on this one. They are taught to fall these days to help avoid injury. It’s funny they mentioned AD and Embiid because those are the two most injury prone guys 😂😂😂
@@Haddonfield63ima Miami fan but I’m from Pa family in Philly a lot of em. We all agree Embiid is a talent. But he cry too much and flip flops heavy on the flops lol he goes crazy
Love the conversation about the “Head Coaching Philosophy” but they must have forgotten how that shit goes in real life. The star players can “act” however they want to. If they got the bag they are going to play. If they not playing you want be there long.
Salley played as much Rodman when Detroit won its 2 Championships, never gets mentioned when Rodman is talked about as an all-time great instead of as an elite role player... fax!!!
It's the tell-tell sign of poor foot work. Vin ce could jump all the way over your head, dunk the ball, & land PERFECTLY on his feet. Perfect "10" dismount EVERY time. Foot Work!
It's really ironic because the way Gil hates on joker, joker is the most post-heavy of the top centers in the NBA. He initiates almost everything from the midpost. He backs his opponent down in the post. He shoots the fewest threes. He shoots to score, not to draw free throws. Everything. Gil says he wants, yet he hates on him all the time
KAT going 0-10 million 3 point attempts is easily the main reason the wolves are losing 0-3. Tell me I'm wrong you literally can't. Not to mention he's 7 ft tall and can't rebound smh.
The game is changing. If they can shoot from three, let them. The coaches just have to remind them if the shot is not falling get ya a** down in the paint and bang.
I don’t always agree with Gill. But after listening to him speak on why he did not want to Coach I could not help but think that he would be a great coach.
