--------
John Salley spoke on the possibility of LeBron James possibly hanging around in the NBA, hoping to participate alongside his son. Despite Salley validating LeBron’s potential plan, he also emphasizes the inevitability of moving on from being an athlete, recalling his own retirement at 36 and subsequent switch to acting and producing in Hollywood. In a previous VladTV interview, former NFL player Rashard Mendenhall talked about his decision to walk away from football at 26. He emphasizes that he never saw football as the be-all and end-all of his life, leaving the sport became an option when the pitfalls of the sports career began to overshadow the benefits. The conversation also examined the increasing trend of younger athletes entering the industry and the average NBA player age of 26 years. In essence, Salley emphasizes that while there may be outliers like LeBron, it is still more beneficial for the industry to herald younger athletes.

You guys are talking about the business side of things though. I think if anyone in sports in general is playing well,their health is good and they still have passion for what they do then age shouldn't matter. He's basically saying since LeBron is older he should retire because other younger players merchandise isn't selling as good,it just doesn't make sense on a skill and talent point of view.
@2cents2
@2cents2 4 месяца назад
@@oneskillpoint4669 It's not about celebrating these guys it's about how they are still performing at their age. If the athlete still feels they still got it and the stats prove they are still able to currently compete then there shouldn't be a reason why they shouldn't play,if anything it should motivate the younger players to do better at what they do. That's how legends are made and that's why fans still cheer these older guys because they still preform at an elite level. Now if you're talking about merchandise not being equally sold than that's no longer a topic of sports it's a topic of business.

Interesting. See, I always thought that it was all about the talent and ability. I feel bad for the players that didn't reach they maximum potential due to injuries. My main man, Mr. Penny Hardaway always comes to mind. All of that hard work and dedication for it to end so abruptly. The same thing happens in the music industry. They use you and give you the world, but once that 3 - 5 year window is up, they kick you to the curb like a redhead stepchild. Agencies are always looking & booking ahead for the next wave of talent. I believe that knowledgeable players should transition into the commentator field. I've learned that there are a lot of lil' funny politics within the NBA. If you didn't play exactly like Mr. Jordan then you may as well just leave it alone.

He was nice his senior year of high school, because his athleticism grew and his jumper got a bit better, but I'm sorry to say that now that he's at a higher level of competition, college athletes are exposing him and he's really not all that good so far. He could always eventually adapt and improve but right now, there are some games he can't even score in and most of the time he's not starting. Don't know if Bronny will even make it to the NBA.

If you take care of your body, you can play until 45......... Your prime is not until like 34-39 depending on your genetics. If your genetics & sports IQ are just better than most people, like Lebron's genes and IQ............ his 'coming down' is another 5 to 10 years after that 39.......... He could probably do it until 50 and still be above most players of NBA

3 and half year? That must be because it's been players who had career injuries, other than that the average got to be like maybe 10 because players today only do one year in college and they're gone to the NBA. So they basically start off playing at like 18 or 19 years old, and most don't become a star until sometime their early 20s. John smoke too damn much

Most players don't make it in the NBA. It's extremely difficult to stay after your first contract. They're competing against the best players in the entire world for a spot on a roster. The average is literally 4.5 years.

You definitely a casual and wrong af. It’s no where near 10 year average. Dudes get in the league and sometimes get sent straight to the g league after 15 games. Then you got plenty dudes who never resign after the first contract. Y’all niggas don’t watch basketball fr

I don't like to throw dirt on people but Vlads interviews are just painful to tune into anymore. It's sad because he has some top-level personalities on, and we just want to hear the guest speak, not Vlad constantly talking over them and about himself.
