Azimuth played at a local university (in eastern Canada) about 20years ago - I had not heard of John at the time. When he started playing I was immediately transfixed and absolutely knocked out by his depth and feeling. JT is an absolute giant! You cannot help but be awestruck by his playing...
An under-sung giant, at least in the US. His sense of space, beautiful tone, and natural flow will always be an inspiration. His trios with Peter Erskine are on the highest level. Gone way too soon.
John Taylor's music will last in our hearts until the end of time. Seen no tribute dedicated to his enormous contribution to moderrn jazz ... but who could attain this kind of mastery, but John Taylor ?....
R.I.P. John. He was one of those artists who introduced me to a whole other world of musical possibilities through his playing, compositions, and groups (especially Azimuth). Another talent we lost far too soon.
Thank you for uploading this. Love John Taylor's playing and have for many years. This is beautiful. After reading otherv comments here, I must say, no matter the view counts or notoriety, one knows very well what one hears and feels coming from a musician. Yes, he is a rare talent, and world-class.. unique and musically so special, like Beirach and Jarrett, and so similar to another whom most don't know (one from my own country who near the end of 2012 left, prematurely - which broke my heart).., Yes, so very special indeed. Wonderful upload. Thank-you ♥
No hay dudas de que Taylor es parte del legado de excelencia de los pianistas de fin del siglo XX, como el maestro Jarrett y Egberto Gidmonti también el fallecido Lyle Mays, todos ellos creando el nuevo espacio sonoro.
