Lotta fun, and he was competing against Dominguez that was tough. NY riders colony. Pretty exciting to say the least. Pletcher/J.V. many many races, day after day. Week after week, month after month and they we're lock step all the way. Incidentally Dominguez had 3 eclipse awards back to back in that window.
He loves the horses... This is a real beloved sport. The horse will respond to your vibration. If you jump on the horse being mad, feeling anger or bad energy the horse will never ever win. It not matters if the horse is the best. That connection will ever be important. I Love this shit I truly love this shit.❤️
I did win a race with him... Being young hot walker... LoL I'm born and raised in the Island and he's the goat in both sides. He's a hero. Thank You Johnny!
No doubt about it one of the best race riders of all time.So I give credit where credit is due. However I wish they kept a stat for how many odds on horses he lost on and came back to win there next start with him aboard at much better odds.It seems to be a trend with older riders where they won't take the same chance on a claiming horse as they do on a stake horse. For example they won't dare try squeeze there way through traffic or up the rail on the claimer, but will take that chance for the big purse on the stake mount.I can't say I blame them just pointing this fact out.Thats why older accomplished Hall of Fame riders become selective with there mounts.
I've owned a couple of horses over the years, had nearly every name jockey in NY ride them at one time or another. Of all of them , Johnny V rode them the best. He always knew what he had under him, and could ride accordingly. One time in a turf race he gunned my horse alongside another and cranked out fractions of 22:2, 44:4, in a mile race for 40 claimers. Thought he was crazy, until she hit the finish line 5 lengths to the good.
