Same video used in TENNESSEE BLUES, just different audio. I wanted people to see the original video before I changed the audio over to Tennessee Blues. Plus to hear John sing this, is just amazing!
If it wasn't for today's ROTTEN NASHVILLE SYSTEM, John Whitley would have been one of the BIGGEST STARS EVER TO WALK ON THE OPRY STAGE!!! I hope you all agree. My sympathy goes out to Dwight, Flo, and the entire Whitley Family. God Bless All Of You.
@@jeaniegrant5761 I remember when him and his brother Michael were little boys. I remember at a grade school talent show that John was suppose to play his guitar and he must have been shy because he just dropped his head and never played anything. He was so little then. I knew Michael and John way before I knew about Keith because I would see them at school, they were a few years younger than me. Their mom's mom was our head cook.
Right there with ya. Listened to it on repeat from my first heartbreak and only this song. Listened to it for a couple months. A while later I'm on take number to and just getting this song ready if I have to come back to it.
BOY, WHAT A VOICE!!! His Uncle Keith would sure be proud. I bet they're up in Heaven right now singing some of the sweetest harmonies anyone could sing. Those Whitley traits sure showed a lot through John. It's such a shame that he was gone before his time, just like his uncle. "Farther Down The Bottle" is as COUNTRY AS IT GETS!!! It doesn't get any better that pure, solid and straight Traditional Country Music. John Whitley had the PERFECT COUNTRY VOICE. Just like his predecessors.
Had John on my mind this morning. So glad to be able to hear him sing. Miss him sooooooo much. The best singers have always been from the Whitley Family. Love ya'll!!!
@@derrickboyd190 I guess the person is talking about Keith drinking I don't know but nobody is perfect except the man up stairs but both Keith and his brother John is great it's a dang shame Keith has been dead 31 years and isn't in the hall of fame
This would have been John’s breakthrough album. It would have been shopped to labels and there is no doubt in my mind he would have been signed. Sadly, John passed away before that could happen.
You know the Whitley family has been through a lot of loss. but, I'm inspired by all of them! It has helped me make it through. God bless the family. Respect
What an amazing voice!! I really wish John and Keith Whitley we’re still here making amazing music..I definitely would be getting tickets to see them both and watching them fight over the top spot with their music!! God Bless their family!!!
cowboytcb75 well if they were we'd have the added bonus that Dwight would still be singing too because he lost all interest in playing music after Keith and his son died
I hope there's not a limit to listening to this gem of a song because I have worn it out, playing over and over... Would love to have this on CD on repeat !!! 💗💗💗💗💗
This is one of my go to songs. Love John Whitley's music. I don't know what happened to him, but I sure wish he was still with us. I feel so bad for his father, Dwight Whitley.
this was Dwight Whitley (Keith brother)and his wife flo son John who passed from a accident near his home in Sandy hook Kentucky.I'm from Florida and don't know Dwight but I have a lot of respect for him and his family, they carry themselves with pride, passion, and love.Dwight,u sir are my hero, God bless you !
If you think it sounds good here you should have heard it in the recording studio when it was done. I remember listening to this mix and just thinking “ what a masterpiece “! I’ve got hours of video and many pics from this session. Two weeks before this we were in the same studio and John was singing harmony on my album “Outlaws Lament “. If you wanna really hear something cool, put on the 24 track and listen to mine and Johns isolated vocals. Like his Uncle Keith, he was a great harmony singer also. I only have good memories of John. The world lost a good one here and very few know it. RIP my friend, Sonny T
@@Jussy83 this was recorded in 1996, so country music wasn’t completely crap then. Had John lived he had the potential to be one of the best. I set up cameras in the studio and have hours of footage of this session.
@@Jussy83 John and I weren’t related, rather like Brothers of the Road. I’m not sure where you heard 01, because we recorded in 96, ( film and recordings all dated ) and John passed away just a few months later, before the recording could even be released. I’ll go back and check on that steel player. It’s been a long time! If you pull up my song from Outlaws Lament, “Badly Wounded Heart”, you can hear what a great harmony singer John was. It’s here on RU-vid. All the best, Sonny T
@@Jussy83 the entire album Outlaws Lament is on RU-vid. We recorded it two weeks before we recorded Johns, and he’s singing and playing guitar on it. My first album “The Way of The Gun” is on RU-vid also. Gary Stewart’s producer Roy Dea produced it and put it on his label Blue Day Records, distributed by RCA. He was an RCA producer. Many of my songs were recorded by Gary. I’m still at it, I’ve got two songs on an album that’s currently #8 on the Billboard Blues chart. Check it out, “Midnight Blues” by Crystal Shawanda. I wrote the title cut and another one called “Hold Me”. Crystal is a powerhouse vocalist!! ST
Hey man I am 17 and love this music, with country my day and age wasn’t so shit lol, what happened to John Whitley? I can’t find anything about how or when he died?
WOW !!! It is like we have Keith back again, I love it, and play it over and over. Thank you!! You sound kind of like him, but you have your own "drawl", can't be beat!
Just discovered him today , i gust they were special breed of men , perhaps he drank a lot so do Hank William sr , Lefty Frizell , George Jones, Johnny Paycheck & Keith ..RIP Real country singers , no one fill their shoes , greeting 23 yo asian boy
Pansye Gibbs I would definitely say you can hear the Whitley in his music. They we're all raised on music. I hear his dad more than Keith. Nonetheless it's a great song.
James George my opinion is I think Keith Whitley has always had the best voice out of any country singer and he puts his heart and soul into the songs he sings about his life he was the best artist and songwriter I think they are will ever be he put it all out there did not sugar-coat nothing rest in peace keith this is the first time I heard his nephew sing he is great too I can hear keiths lovely voice and his voice it is too bad he had to leave us so early he would have been great just like his uncle Keith you both rest in peace and God bless you
@Mike England yeah he's definitely not as good as them or Dwight for that matter and most of his music isn't for me I do like his song out of the shadow. I think that's what it's called
