he got 6 oscars and 48 nominations, is that already too little for you? he received more credit than any artist in hollywood and well deserved i think, but i dont think he will ever get an oscar again, he cannot win everytime.
BostonRedSoxForever I was just saying that williams is an amazing composers, one of my favourites i dare say, but he's already won 6 oscars plus almost 50 nominations, that's a lot of recognition fo his work, i dont think he will get another prize unless he makes an amazing soundtrack again, but seiously amazing. it's like "yeah, we know you make great ost's john, that's why we always nominate you, but you cant win always, we must give something to others"
Steven Spielberg: "John would you like to compose the music for my next film?" (He gives Williams the screenplay) John Williams: "I´m not worthy to compose the music for such a big, incredible, nice film. Please do it with an better one than me!" Steven Spielberg: "I would like to, but they are all dead!" --> Williams composed one of the greatest soundtracks for one of the best movies ever and won an Oscar for his work :D
Every time I listen to this music I feel like I’m slowly suffocating from how beautiful it is. The music makes my flesh feel like it’s burning to ashes and then smoked out into the heavens. Bravo John Williams. Cheers from Poland 🇵🇱

Personally I feel it's a good thing he wasn't. A double nomination would have resulted in a voter split. It was the main reason John Williams lost for memoirs of a geisha in 2005 because he received another nomination for Munich. That caused a voter split.
@@guileniam A voter split is an event that occurs when one person is nominated for multiple films in the same category in the same year. For example John Williams received two nominations in the category of best original score seven times in his life and even defeated himself to take home the oscar in 1977. In 2005 John Williams was nominated for 'Munich' and 'Memoirs of a geisha'. In this case even though everybody agrees that you are the best they are undecided as to which movie to vote for and this ends up 'splitting' the vote between the two movies. So if John was supposed to get a 100 votes for memoirs he ends up receiving maybe 50 for each. The winner that year was Gustavo santoalalla for brokeback mountain. So in this case maybe he received 60-70 votes while John received 50 for each movie. While John has more votes (100) than Gustavo because of the ensuing split he has failed to win. This is why multiple nominations in the same category in the same year are generally not encouraged.
I seriously hope that he gets nominated for and WINS for Episode VII, King Williams deserves at least one more. Fun fact, when Spielberg approached Williams to do this movie, Williams was hesitant, because he didn't think he could do it justice, didn't think he was good enough. Spielberg's response?"Anyone better is dead."
No composer can write film music like John because he knows what kind of emotion he wants the audience to feel while watching a film, but, that doesn't take away from the other great film composers whose scores have graced the silver screens.
Original Score is one of the unfairly "lesser" categories compared with best movie, director, actress or actor, but this is something different. What Mr. Williams accomplished here deserves more than an Oscar
John Williams should have won these Oscars: 1972, Best Music, Scoring Adaptation and Original Song Score - Fiddler on the Roof 1976, Best Music, Original Dramatic Score - Jaws 1978, Best Music, Original Score - Star Wars 1979, Best Music, Original Score - Superman 1981, Best Music, Original Score - The Empire Strikes Back 1982, Best Music, Original Score - Raiders of the Lost Ark 1983, Best Music, Original Score - E.T. 1984, Best Music, Original Score - Return of the Jedi 1994, Best Music, Original Score - Schindler's List 1999, Best Music, Original Dramatic Score - Saving Private Ryan 2000, Best Music, Original Score - Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace 2005, Best Original Score - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 2012, Best Original Score - War Horse
I have to disagree about Return of the Jedi. Nothing really stood out much like in Star Wars & Empire Strikes Back. And also, it has that godawful Yub Nub song. Anything with Yub Nub in it is worth a snub.
Everybody's talking about Spielberg releasing two very different movies the same year but we gotta give more credit to John Williams for his efforts on these two movies too. Without credits you would have think these are two different ppl who composed the music of each movie.
What I don't get is why Michael Nyman wasn't even nominated for The Piano. I'm pretty sure Schindler's List would have still been the winner though if he did get the nom.
I had the privilege of being able to visit Auschwitz and being able to listen to this music during the visit... It was a way of paying tribute to all the brothers, sisters and children who unjustly lost their lives there.
I am Jewish, I showed this movie to my twin sons when I thought they were ready to watch it. They struggled to understand the cruelty that people could inflict on each other because of different beliefs.
Don’t forget when he was first shown the film he literally left stating that the film needed a better composer. Steven Spielberg responded with “I know. But they’re all dead.”
This Man John Williams Is A Musical Genius No Question About It! "Jaws Star Wars Close Encounters Of The Third Kind Schindler's List! Need I Say Any More!🤗🎼🎼🎼🎼🎵🎵🎶🎶🎻
He never says things on live TV and he never will be. Not like Lionel Newman who won a 1970 Oscar for co-adapting the score on Hello Dolly in 1970. Forget it.
When his longtime collaborator, the director Steven Spielberg, showed him Schindler's List, the composer felt it would be too challenging to score. He said to Spielberg, 'You need a better composer than I am for this film. ' Spielberg responded, 'I know. But they're all dead!'
Except being friend with Lucas, Spielberg has nothing to do with Star Wars and certainly didn't produce any of these movies... Heck he hasn't produced any of the Indiana Jones either, which are 100% Lucasfilm.
