In the commentary of making of Jurassic Park, Spielberg said that he had agreed to direct Schindler's List only if he's allowed to wrap up Jurassic Park first, because he didn't think he would be able to resume work soon after directing Schindler's List.
Flew straight to Poland when they wrapped Jurassic Park in Hawaii. In his contract with Universal he had in print where he had to shoot Jurassic Park first then Schindler’s List.
it was mentioned in quran too.and more than this all prophets are same all slaves must be released all people must live in peace all people must work hardly and do there best all people must help poor people to get rich all people must not lie or cheat all husbands must be faithful to their wifes we must respect our parents and so much take care of them and elder people and orphans too and Alot of human's rights
Daaaaymm bro where did you get this quote from ????? It is mentioned in holy quran "He who saves life saved the world and he who kills one killed the entire world"
I cried at the end when he said "to the 6 million who cannot be watching with the one billion tonight." I gained so much respect for Spielberg after Schindler's List. He didn't even take a salary for it, he said it would be blood money. This film is incredible, and of course Liam Neeson was robbed.
@@valou-scaling it calls human empathy. We cannot just turn off our heads and pretend that atrocious events happened. God bless all that souls and all the survivors and families. Spielberg nailed it with this picture
Sinjin Smyth Oh noes another christians telling me im going to hell I won't be able to sleep tonight!!! Just kidding mate, I will sleep like a baby lol However if you believe in god, pretty sure he will put you at the #1 priority of his shit-list
That's a good point and you're right. It was hard for Steven Spielberg to make the movie. Also, there's another director named Roman Polanski who made the movie called The Pianist. Polanski is half Jewish. But I believe it was very hard for him too because Roman Polanski is in fact a Holocaust survivor. I don't know how he had the courage to direct a movie based on a compelling true story. But he did. I admire both Spielberg and Polanski for making those important films.
***** I don't know anything about Tony Zhou until you just mention him. I don't think I'm related to him. All I do know is that I'm related to the Skidds, the O'Neils, the Levensons, and the Segals.
***** Well I now thank you for telling me. I don't like that he didn't get any punishment for what he did. The justice system is fucked. He may have been a holocaust survivor. But that's no excuse to seek into the lowest level of rapping a thirteen year old.
That's correct. And all the profits of the movie went to the shoah foundation and also some to the Anne Frank foundation. The movie only cost him money
+IXM360 Not really. Saving Private Ryan was an heroic story about people fighting back against the enemy and dying for what they believed in. Schindler's List is more of a sadder story about helpless people who are being murdered and who are unable to defend themselves -- thus, making it way more a matter of "blood money". Besides, Spielberg is a huge contributor to the WWII D-Day museum in New Orleans, so it's not like he just profits off the deaths of everybody in the war.
ChakRaLight I have read the book...I have seen the movie..and I have met with holocaust survivors..my grandfather helped with the liberation of the camps... I will take their word over any denier who wasnt a glimpse in their grandparents eye and has nothing better to do than cruise on conspiracy theory websites all day anyday of the week I love you conspirosy theorists...you never stop to think that to pull off your theories that it takes 10000s of thousands of people involved Good luck with that
It never fails to astound me that Steven Spielberg released "Jurassic Park" and "Schindler's List" in the same year. I can't imagine two films more dissimilar to one another, yet they were directed by the same man. It's strong evidence that the man is arguably the greatest filmmaker who ever lived.
It's fucking insane and while Schindler's List is a more important and better movie in many ways, Jurassic Park was also hugely important to the film industry. Also this guy fucking directed Jaws and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Spielberg is an absolute legend.
Especially considering the toll Schindlers List took on Spielberg watched a video and he had hard time going over Jurassic Parks post production due to the toll Schindlers List took on him
He deserved it. Every moment of it. How hard must have been to direct a movie like this. How hard he had to push himself and his actors to deliver the honesty, brutal story must have been a very, very hard thing to do.
In the Trivia it's even said that the crew had to call robin williams and he had to tell them jokes and funny stories so they would not sink in melancholia...
+John S And he didnt take one penny for his directing fees. It was all donated to Jewish charities. He said if he took any money - it would be blood money!!!!!!!!! If he didnt win the Oscar this year - it should be retired!!!!!!!!!!!
@@markukrainetz5058 I'm pretty sure the original commenter didn't understand that cinematography refers to the images themselves and not cinema as a whole.
Yes I am from Yemen and I strongly support Steven Spielberg great director. Jews, Christian, and Muslims are all people who must live together in peace. Stop hate.
+1ranjeeves21 Agreed! I was so angry at the Academy for ignoring him like he was insignificant, but so proud that he continued forward because in the end I think he made movies for the people who loved and appreciated his work and F what the Academy thought about it.
Most have said that the Academy was essentially punishing Spielberg for being too successful too soon (sounds more like jealousy, really). Richard Attenborough won Best Director for Gandhi over Spielberg & E.T., but long claimed that the Oscar should have gone to Steven then & even said as much about the Academy basically labeling him a "popular" filmmaker & not worth awarding ("nominating, maybe...but let us not get carried away"). Spielberg's casting of Attenborough as John Hammond in Jurassic Park is often considered to be his way of showing thanks to Attenborough for having his back.
I know Steven's looked back at his experiences making this film, and it took so much out of him mentally, and even physically. This movie is SO important, it tells of the absolute horrors of the Holocaust, I pray that we don't have this happen again...please America let's learn from this time period and this horrible tragedy.
Incredible film that I watch again and again and each time tears flow unstoppably... I was in Krakow while it was filmed and on the next trip, in most places shown in the film. Spielberg and the film deserved all the accolades it got!
***** I don't just think it's a great and moving story but also an excellent piece of film making which is why I think it's so watchable. The cinematography, the locations, costumes and especially the music, all combined to make a truly great film under Spielberg's direction.
This movie is a complete masterpiece. From amazing acting to one of the most emotional stories and one of the most emotional soundtracks in cinema history. More than deserved oscar for Spielberg.
R.I.P. Branko Lustig (1932.-2019) Best picture ever.....Thank you Spielberg for bringing out the voice and story of many survivors. last words got my cry "..And to the 6 million who can't watch among the billion who watch this ....." this so damn strong.
Every now and then the Academy absolutely nails it and gives one of these to the most deserving. This movie affected me like none other ever has. I saw it in the theater upon release and I remember how I felt afterward, in the lobby. This man made an incredible movie and he earned the hell out of this.
He not only directed the movie but lived it for ninety days along with the other actors, crew and the survivors. He told a story so important to honor a great man who made a difference during the most horrendous time of the 20th century.
This is such a well deserved Oscar win for Steven Spielberg. He directed one of the greatest masterpieces of all time. And I thank him for this emotionally devastating, eye opening and important movie. I loved how he mentioned the Holocaust victims in his speech, and I loved his love for his mom, and his mom's love for him gave me chills.
Spielberg had one hell of a year, that year… he released two masterpieces, each of a different genre, and both cemented in collective memory for the rest of time. One of them went on to become a game-changer in the science fiction genre and the starting point of one of the biggest franchises ever; the other won the (very well-deserved) Oscar for Best Picture and it is considered one of the finest films ever, period. WOW!!
A movie I'll always remember and cannot watch twice. The little red coat and the ending credits broke my heart and had me in tears. Spielberg is a genius.
I love whoever yelled out "YES!", they knew as soon as Clint said "this is a surprise here" that Spielberg had finally won. His acceptance speech sent me into tears, so heartfelt, and so poignant that he dedicates it to those who died in the Holocaust.
Just rewatching the film for only the 3rd time. It truly is one of the most important & incredible films ever made. It’s more than a film, it’s call for peace & humanity when all else seems lost.
After watching the fabelsman .. seeing the oscar back in the day when steven first oscarrr, and his mom there with him.. to celebrate together.. when his mom criedd.. i think its so powerful emotional because his mom knows he’s passion sincee day one.. she’s always support steven,,and first time his mom give him to test the camera only wants to seeing the train and car crash .. so he can replay again and again.. i criedddd and so emotinal ater seeing this 😢
There’s something beautiful about the clip ending with his mom crying. Has to be a proud moment, but sad when you think about the lives lost due to hatred.
The best Oscar acceptance speech I've ever seen. I want to give all the Spielbergs a hug. Steven's duty as a filmmaker was truly done here. He didn't need this award, Schindler's List would've been a classic inspite of awards.
Roshii Seneviratne probably one of the best “best actor” races of all time with Tom Hanks in Philadelphia, Liam Neeson in Schindler’s List, Tom Cruise in The Firm and Harrison Ford in The Fugitive.
It breaks my heart to see Natasha Richardson next to Liam Neeson, alive and happy. That cold concept, with the combination of Spielberg's emotional speech, makes this a very raw video indeed. :,(
For years I thought Steven Spielberg but not one of the greatest directors ever. Then I saw Schindler's List and my opinion drastically changed. It was so perfect that I didn't understand how a film like that could be made. It was like Fellini's 8 1/2... Everything was just so extraordinary that it doesn't seem like a scripted, choreographed movie at all. Phenomenal phenomenal film.
Everybody else nominated that year knew they were not gonna win! Very much deserved. This movie is the most powerful movie I've ever seen, in terms of emotions and art. I literally got hunted by it for dayssss. It affected me so much. no other movies has ever done that to me!
Great thing Steven did mention Sid Shinberg (Steven's friend and former ceo Universal Studios) and very awesome he mention his mom. Well deserved by him and the movie.
