I would love to visit Australia one day. I am a Canadian teacher in South Korea and teaching students about go to Australia, and I showed them this video and taught them about Australian history, aboriginals, Uluru, the bush country, the mix of cultures and restaurants in Sidney, Melbourne etc... I taught them some slang. I will make it a point to visit. I love this song. It's one of my favorite. And I love Albert Namatjira's paintings. Uluru is power.
I hope you have made it in the ensuing (strange) years. If not keep the idea open. One strange thing I have always found is that every time I travel thru the centre is how intense your dreams are at night…almost like the land is showing you its magic, its ability to tap into your soul. Australia is a living land, with wisdom far beyond our age. Just don’t get stuck in the cities. That will ruin it for you 😅😅😅
I am proud to say my Father taught Warren H Williams and his brither at Hermannsburg, i know that he and Mum are proud of what Warren an his family have achieved My Mum worked in the store at Hermannsburg and Albert Namatjira sons used to buy their paints from her. The gifted her a few paintings that are still today proudly hanging on their walls at home today after 50 years
have you ever taken a look on mother earth out of space, today within our sience we can do that, such a littel, how can I describe, surrounding, a small belt arround mama to give as space to life, looking in the sky, i thought it was thousends of kilometer - no - it is about 30 kliks - all we have to breath -was enough for thousend of years - messing or lifes up- messing those 30 kilometers up with our greads, nonsense neeeds
As a second generation white fella living in Australia , this song fills me with enormous pride of our beautiful country ! Every single day , ( through mates ) I learn of the indigenous culture / struggles , and am extremely lucky to call their land my home , couldn’t imagine a better place on Earth right now to raise my kids !
That's Australia right there .. I wish every one can put aside their agendas and embrace what all our cultures do to create Australia the best country in the world.
Only went on holiday to Australia last year ( Sep-Oct 2018) but this song- by god, already it evokes wonderful memories of my 4 day tour to the Red Centre during my 3 week stay in an incredible country. God bless Australia, and all who live there and love their country, I will be back one day!
It’s been an indigenous of Australia John Williamson and his mates singing absolutely spot on with the aboriginal culture I love the lyrics just makes me cry people put my ancestors down but hey they are got great singers I wish I was more indigenous singing and I have fantastic voices and John Wilson is an absolutely fantastic talent singer and bro you sing so well
I saw the rain on the Rock in March 2020 - before the impact of Covid19. It was a spectacular sight. I was surprised by the number of people had had worked in the area for at least two years and had never seen rain on the Rock. I was told only 1% of visitors get to see it rain on the Rock.
If I ever had a choice to meet a very special fellow Australian ...It would be John Williamson . To thank him for making me so proud to be an Aussie.. He evokes us better than anybody and I do mean anybody else...THANK YOU JOHN...Warren is great too .....
I shot all the exterior shots in Central Australia on my very first video camera, an old mini-DV tape Panasonic (1996 maybe?!) I still have it somewhere. Thanks John for asking me to do it, started my camera career really!
John I have just lost my son. He was a music buff of the 70’s and 80’s genre but nevertheless someone who loved music. Your songs resonate strongly with my feelings atm. Thank you so much for your songs. Much love Bev
This too brings back so many memories for me , my first time in Australia I traveled from Canada where the temperature was minus 7%f wearing the clothes I traveled in I walked out side from the airport into an oven it was over 90% f what a shock ? I spent 6 weeks I total bliss visiting every where I could in such a short time along the west coast , I met many new friends, it was hard for me to leave and go back to Canada . The reverse happened on leaving Vancouver airport the drop in temperature again was another shock as I was still in my shorts and sandals! All in all a brilliant time , while in Australia , while on a prearranged 6 day safari with another group , the guide in the cassette player in the van we were traveling in played John williamson 's tapes my first time hearing him Brilliant and of course the first chance I got I bought a copy in a store in Cains, what a wonderful friendly place . That was in 1990 a few days after Christmas, I still play the tapes even now . A couple of my favourites , Bill the cat , the budgie song , True blue , boogie with M'Baby , just to mention a few . Wonderful 👍👍
This happened to be the song on the radio when I first had the realisation that bushfires of 09 were being beaten by the rain. 4 blokes I'd not met the week before were sitting on the back of some random towns tanker just enjoying the moment. I'd hate to go through that again. But that 3 min of glory ill remember all my life
You would think someone might have edited this by now, to include this talented mans name! Thank you for advising me of his name! 7 years back and this song still brings a smile to my face! Much love and gratitude to both of these singers, for the joy that they spread
I discovered John Williamson while being on a Cat at Brisbane. Finally got hold of one the few CDs left at Cairns. Everytime I listen to these great songs I am back in the Outback ❤ I left a part of my heart there...
Look into the land, hear the Story. I'm Half Indian, and half freckled Red-head convict. I don't believe I'll ever hear the true end of this story. Or the beginning. Rock on, and rock solid my favourite people.
I have just returned from my first visit to Uluru and yes, it rained heavily on the rock....the heaviest August falls since 1986. The most beautiful sight I have ever seen. Love this song. How lucky were we !
October 2. 2021, Many Australians are uniting with our beautiful indigenous peoples to take back country, we have much to protect, our people and land! I’ve always loved this duo, extremely Australian, authentic and uplifting!
I used to jump around in my bed room dancing to this classic track ,and have been enjoying John's music ever since , thank you John for all the memories , you shaped the man I became . Mallee boy is a masterpiece.
You make me feel happy. My Shira Warrior Princess lives in New Mexico and she still has the same loyalty, royalty and beauty made from your home. She is my family, my love, my connection with the wild of Australia. She looks exactly like your dingo only shorter ears. We are a family and love you! Thank you for your beautiful song and what you and her bring to ur lives every day! FREEDOM!

Was such a spiritual moment for me when i first set eyes on uluru and walking around it i went at a rare time when the red centre was green from all the rain and the colour changes from red/orange to brugendy/purple to silver and black.... fk i love my country ✌❤
Gary Whalen Here ya go: Pastel red to burgundy and spinifex to gold, we've just come out of the Mulga where the plains forever roll. And Albert Namatjira has painted all the scenes, And a shower has changed the lustre of his land. Chorus And it's raining on the Rock, In a beautiful country, And I'm proud to travel this big land, Like an Aborigine. And it's raining on the Rock What an almighty sight to see, And I'm wishing on a postcard that you were here with me. Everlasting daisies and a beautiful desert rose Where does their beauty come from heaven knows. I could ask the wedge-tail but he's away too high, I wonder if he understands it's wonderful to fly. Chorus It cannot be described with a picture, The mesmerizing colours of the Olgas. Or the grandeur of the Rock Uluru has power!
Oops song was By MySelf and I listened to it for the second time over the internet in decades and I am still trying to connect with Lesley at least in G+; Others may have just left the internet or do not want to donnect anymore.
