Everykneeshall Bow Son, there ain’t no god. This song is metaphorical, just like the bible. Sins do catch up with people. But not because of god. Because you receive what you put out to the world, nine times out of ten. God’s got nothin’ to do with it. No matter how we try & avoid it, the bill always comes due eventually.

Johnny Cash recorded this cover in 2003 and released it on July 4th of 2006. "The lyrics warn sinners that they cannot avoid God's judgment." "God's Gonna Cut You Down" (also known as "God Almighty's Gonna Cut You Down", "God's Gonna Cut 'Em Down", "Run On" and "Sermon") is a traditional folk song. It was first recorded by Golden Gate Quartet in 1946 and first issued later that year by The Jubalaires. Since then, the track has been recorded in a variety of genres, including country, folk, gospel, alternative rock, electronica and black metal. Too many have covered but none like J.C. RIP.

Yes, it's a tribute to Johnny Cash but it is an ironic one. The song warns about superficiality and worshipping false idols in the guise of celebrity culture and yet the video is nothing but shots of various celebrities. I've always wondered how many of the celebrities in this really understood what the song was about and what the message in the video is.

Best way for me to explain this video it is saying that no matter who you are or what you have done your sins will be reviled. Aka the reason it showed so many famous people

Unless I didn't go back far enough and someone already shared this, (my apologies) here's the rest of the story! If this is new info you may want to go watch it again, it's pretty revealing? First recorded by the Golden Gate Quartet in 1947, this traditional American folk tune warns evildoers of God's inescapable wrath. Johnny Cash recorded his version in 2003, the idea came from Justin Timberlake (2013). The concept came to him while he was listening to Cash's album with producer Rick Rubin while on a break in the recording studio. When they got to this track, Timberlake told Rubin - the video should feature celebrities wearing Cash's signature black as a tribute to the late singer. Nearly 40 stars appear in the black-and-white clip, including Timberlake, Iggy Pop, Kanye West, Bono, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Chili Peppers Anthony Kiedis and Flea, Adam Levine, Keith Richards, Sheryl Crow, Graham Nash, Mick Jones, and Johnny Depp, among others. Footage was shot in New York, Los An and features close-up shots of the black-clad celebs, whose expressions capture the emotion of hearing the song (some of them, like a teary-eyed Shelby Lynne, for the first time). "Each person got to design their own moment," Rubin told MTV. "But Tony was looking more for the instant emotional impact than a sync, so pretty much everything was spontaneous." Source - Songfacts If you are wondering how do you run to God I stead of away from Him. I suggest this from Myron Golden, I love this guy! I got it soon as you questioned Kanye, idk Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson all have a certain role in messages in lyric, or on stages with gold mics, or circles ovals, on floor of stage they stand in, kid rock too, updated probably, I think that, but many artists may have arranged these updated for release in these times.
