It just hit me that the puberty part may not have been a joke. Around that time, he was with his mom and she was not attentive to him. No one probably taught him about that kind of stuff, and everyone was preoccupied with the pain/abuse they were dealing with everyday. The courage he has to laugh at his pain is incredible.
I thought the same, not a joke. Because exactly when Johnny started taking pills and escape the toxic environment of his family, it was around the time he was a teenager with all the normal things a teenager is supposed to live. But in his specific case, his brain must have forgotten this phase of his life. As a matter of fact, the brain actually does a blackout when someone faces a trauma. It's a sort of amnesia. I don't know the medical term but it exists indeed.
Don't worry, he is still there. Right now he is just trying to get through this as best he can. You know this is quite the nightmare for him to have to go through. But Johnny is strong, intelligent, good and kind and I believe he will come through this like the champ he is. He will be fine. ❤️✌️

I think his mom kept moving because she didn't like stability. Stability can be fearful to some people, that's why they create chaos often. Also, it allowed her to have more control over every one else in the family since they didn't have anything normal steady in their lives.
