Although you two guys being none boxers wouldn’t understand how how it is to knock out that many opponents even if they are journeyman, any professional boxer at any level will tell you just how hard it is.
Some people say Wilder’s problem was just that after knocking out a string of lesser fighters, he reached a certain level, where he was face fighters who were good enough to neutralise his only big weapon. There is some truth in that; more wins were possible but only if his opponents made a mistake, which is unlikely at that level. But Wilder made one big mistake, he should have fired Malik Scott instead of Mark Breland, after Fury II, and brought in a decent trainer who could get inside his head and help him tighten his defence, and be more creative in fighting off the back foot and setting up those big shots. Did anyone else notice, after the KO, Scott jumped in the ring and ran straight past his own stricken fighter to give Zhang a hug? Yuk. The latest I heard was Wilder’s video clip a couple of days ago saying he would carry on. Personally I think it’s a mistake; he’s held a world title, he’s “found peace” and he has his family (and a net worth of $30 million.) But if he’s determined, he should fire Scott, get a new trainer and forget a title shot, just go for another KO victory and walk away on a high.
You what? Wilders legacy is absolutely atrocious! He earned his highest paydays getting beat and knocked out! Before that he was a protected champion! Before that he fought 35 people you never heard of and can’t even remember! He stopped the undisputed fight with Joshua by rejecting multiple career high paydays and then he rejects a 120 million dollar offer from dazn and fires Lou Dibella for setting it up!! All to cherry pick Fury who battered him. When he finally had to fight elite opponents he got battered and knocked out. That’s his legacy.
Ever since the Olympics the boxing establishment has been attempting to blacklist deontay. Taking it out of the judges hands by KO the criminals resort to drugged up opponents and loading gloves. Four years only two fights and you put deontay in with a Parker and Zhang while all others hide behind their mothers skirt. Ha ha. Now you suggest retirement yet another distraction from Anthony Deontay
