Johnny to me has the ultimate R&B/soulful/funkiest gospel baritone voices with a range .. the other was DINO from H Town, who both have this natural innate instinctual voice that can tell any story…..No matter the mood feel or song. I was blown away back in the early 80’s when I first heard Johnny on (Block party) & (perfect combination) with Stacey Lattisaw. Man! I could not believe this boys age. I know some will disagree.. but I don’t feel NEW EDITION is Johnny's bag. It demeans his talent & cheapens his high status as one of the greatest voices out there. NEW EDITION to me is a boy band for boys not a man with a real talent and voice. Hey! but I guess it’s easy work and consistently well paid… which again does him a disservice.
