Glorious recording. Weeping listening to this beautiful production as well. Johnny sings it in a spectacular way - that high pitch is mesmerizing. Thank you, Johnny Rodriguez, grateful to you for this unbelievably beautiful rendition.
What a singing voice Johnny Rodriguez has, love his singing! (I still have all my vinyl, starting from 1959 (some 45s mother bought), and still love to play on my turntable (bought at Service Merchandise on Nolensville Pike (think 1970 or 1971).) ❤FROM A NASHVILLE GIRL❤
5 octaves in one note. One of the best vocalists of all time. Effortless to hit the notes. An absolute shame he’s not in the Country Music Halll of Fame!
Such beautiful lyrics, "everything I told her then was true, everything was true at the time, but time has a way of changing everything, truth has a way of changing all the time"..... So beautiful, don't know why this was not a #1 hit.
This man was such a good and kind person to my husband and I, My brother-in-law was his road manager and we were treated first class by Johnny, one sweet man. He is one of the best country singers of his time and still sounds wonderful. Love you Johnny
I was Johnny's original bandleader (1974). Yes, he was the finest singer, and especially ballads. He was/is also a great friend I still gig with him at times and we still talk. I might know your brother-in-law.
Thank you so much for uploading this. I have long wanted to hear it and have never even seen a copy of this LP. Written by the late great Mickey Newbury and sung by the very underrated Johnny R., it was as good as I'd hoped. Also check out Waylon's version... and, of course, everything else Mickey every wrote. One of the nicest songs ANYONE ever recorded. Micky did, as usual, the perfect job. It makes use of the singer's voice...sort of separates the wheat from the chaff!
