Addressing Shadow's memory loss issue, while Rougue might be a jackass for not explaining anything to him, the rest of the main characters have a good reason. For one thing, team Chaotix never even knew who they were before the game. E-123 Omega was probably just built, or at least after SA2 finished. Sonic and his gang didn't encounter Shadow in this game until that battle at frog forest, and they had no idea that Shadow had amnesia. They even comment in the game things like "Shadow, don't you remember us?" or some stuff like that, so they're just as confused as Shadow.

Oh my god... Metal Sonic's transformation takes longer than the Sonic 06's loading times?!

I feel bad for Big. Heroes showed he could be an awesome and hilarious power guy that can do damage as well as provide comic relief by non-challantly beating things with a fishing rod and just generally being a doofus, but his pointless and unfun playable debut completely wrecked his reputaion, and the eventual edgefests followed by the "friends" exodus killed any potential he had.

To tell the truth, this was my very first Sonic game I grew up with as a child. I loved it so much that the disk had so many scratches on the back. But what I don't remember is the game being so damn unforgiving in certain stages. But, all in all, I still love this game...sort of

I agree with others on the bad collision detection on the PS2 version. The rail riding levels were TORTURE. Sometimes I'd just fall through the pipes, rather than grinding on them.

I fucking died when you compared Metal Sonic transforming to Sonic 06 load times 😂

This is my second favorite 3d Sonic game, the first being Adventure 2. Yeah, the speed characters are slippery as fuck, but once you figure out how to control them properly, you'll have a very enjoyable experience.

Team Rose confronting Team Sonic was actually my least favorite part of the game, since the real Amy would never attack Sonic unless he unintentionally angered her like in a cutscene from "Sonic Riders" or an episode of "Sonic X".

I played this game a lot on my PS2. I sucked at it but it was still fun XD

This is my all time favorite Sonic game, but I do know its flaws. Casino Park and Bingo Highway have great themes, but Jesus Christ the pinball portions are HELLISH. I actually LOVE Rail Canyon though. The special stages? All I have to say is this: once you get all the Chaos Emeralds, NEVER GO BACK! It is GRUELING! There are other things that I do agree with already covered in the video, but other than that, I still enjoy Heroes better than Adventure 1 and 2

Hopefully I'm not alone in thinking they should remake Heroes for Xbox One and PS4. They remade the Adventure titles, why not this one? They could even fix up the control and polish it up. It could turn out nice.

I agree with you. The repetition and the fact that this game's controls are...well, basically total ASS...really messes up the fun factor. I still haven't finished this game, and I've had it for about 7-8 years. Those damn special stages must have been designed by Satan...or a vengeful Alex Kid.

Team Chaotix story is like a Tenacious D story. They go through a series of wacky misadventures playing their music all to just pay the rent.

happy 20th anniversary sonic heroes!!! :3 i really love this game to me it had a style i actually like way more than sa2 with having one enjoyable structure(even though it's loose i didn't have nearly as much trouble with the gameplay as johnny who goes too fast,only felt team dark/the haunted levels of the chaotix length actually dragged and the adventure games had pacing issues as well,loved playing as the power characters so much for their attack range though agree hated the special stages and wish they'd either make them actual stages, find them like the game gear games or a reward for beating the story like generations.) and dialing the tone back while still having fun ties to the previous games. (like metal sonic's transformation and stealing chocola tying to the chao's connection to chaos/being the closest in game till frontiers to showing chaos origin as a mutated chao.) and also having many other things i loved like shadow(this,prime and 06 are my favorite depictions of him with how straightforward but snarky and somewhat suave he is with rouge, david humphrey should voice him again as i liked the charm he gave shadow.),the presentation(outside having the worst voice of tails liked the voices especially knuckles being laid back which i wish they went with instead of being a short tempered gullible hot headed fool.),metal sonic(outside the ova the most fleshed out i think he's felt with him knowing he's a copy of sonic but thinking he can surpass him.wish the games did something with omega and shadow having him at the end instead of shadow the hedgehog.) omega(love his first voice and wish it could be replicated as he's my favorite team dark member.),making amy(after being a rough draft in adventure 1 and being pointless storywise outside an extremely hokey moment/multiplayer in 2 i liked how they followed up on amy's snappy,sarcastic but headstrong go getter attitude that i'm extremely glad boom/the comics and recent brought back.) /big the cat badass(liked his friendship with amy and big brother nature to cream holding her while she's scared of metal sonic's transformation along with being more likable character wise as i don't think he's a bad character.),team chaotix(have a huge love of these guys and their theme song is awesome.),the levels(my favorite being outside the control the casino levels being a city turned into a vegas pinball and egg fleet/final fortress being an air fleet in the middle of a dark as night storm with lightning constantly flashing in the cutscenes that's still my favorite airship level in sonic.) and the other playable characters(sonic games seriously need to do this again.:3) carrying the feel of the classic games in the modern era.

My only complaint for this game is Flight formation. I should be able to control Tails/Cream/Rouge/Charmy solo on the ground, be a bit faster and use their solo attacks, while retaining the standard flight formation and thunder shoot while on air.

This is still my third favorite Sonic game, and I found a lot of the issues he had with it easily surmountable. Also I like the Sonic and Dark stages best because of their length. It’s more time I get to spend in the level. The Special Stage controls do suck, though.

It would be cool if knuckles was as strong as sonic is fast. Like if everyone elses special skill was as insane as sonics speed so then they actually feel like they matter to the game.

I loved this game back in the day. The controls never bothered me. The cheap deaths did but I was able to look past them and still have fun. I would even say it's as great as the classic games which I played years before. For me this and the first three games will always be some of the greatest games of my childhood.

I want sonic heroes 2 xD about shadow's amnesia I always thought tha sonic adventure 2 and sonic heroes happens in 2 different dimension and shadow the hedgehog (game) happens after sonic heroes game...

This was my first sonic game I played it on the GameCube when i was 4 but strangely enough I couldn't find that but I found my old GameCube and an Xbox version the other day in my garage I haven't beaten it yet though because of THE SPECIAL STAGE AND I CAN'T KEEP THE KEY

I... i like this game. Sure, it has many faults. But it just has a special place in my heart. Mostly because i love Team Chaotix.
