Unplug the main wire harness to the engine. Jump the starter solenoid. If you have spark. There is a problem with the kill switch or the key switch.

@jjbust0414 next 3 things are, powerpack, stator or trigger. You'll need to pull the flywheel to get to the stator and trigger. The power packs go out regularly on these engines. It's a gamble. But ifbi was going to bet on one if the 3, I would start with the power pack.

How big of a PITA are the thermostats?

All you need is a flathead, an 11 mm wrench and 6 pack of beer. If it was in salt water, you may need a 12 pack.

@@TheJoejoe7716 Nice. That's with leaving the housing on I assume? It looks tight and I see people cutting an access panel... definitely don't want to do that. I want to do it the correct way lol

@@MexicoPescadoro if it's your first time, get an extra set of gaskets. I ruined a pair. It's definitely doable. The hardest part is going back together and holding the spacer and the poppet springs all together. When going back together. Have all three bolts in the housing and start tightening the middle one first

@@TheJoejoe7716 Good to know. Thanks for the reply. Good information. I was worried about accessibility and the springs/poppet. I want to do it eventually. Not immediately needed.
