It's OTTWeekender time! In this week's show, we talk about the ways that you can dive into replaying D-Day on the tabletop using the updated book from Battlefront Miniatures for Flames Of War and the various Army Sets they have produced to go alongside it.

You guys are the best online resource for flames of war. Thank you! They finally listened to John and put infantry into the big boxes. Btw. I have about 30 Cromwell, Challenger, and Firefly tanks. Can’t decide on whether to decal for British or Canadian.

Totally agree with you Gerry, the basing scheme completely undermines the idea of having epic scale minatures. You can barely fit any of them on a 6 x 4, let alone a 4 x 4.

Have never done any other wargame other than 28mm but have recently been interested in trying 15mm after seeing a number of big games at Falkirk's Carronade wargame show. The Flames of War minis can be used for lots of things!

You might want to try Ulya Chronicles: Raptor Claw Island then. More co-op but mechanically very similar.

The Drowned Earth has some amazing miniatures and some really interesting mechanics. One of the things I like about the lore is that the factions aren’t based on race. So you can have humans, gorillas and reptilians in the same faction because the factions are job based. A new mechanic to the game is having dinosaur handlers that allows you to add trained dinosaurs to your warband.

As far as waiting for miniatures the designer has shown to come out, I think the current record must be with Mark Copplestone's Kiss Kiss Bang Bang frogmen, which I saw him do a demo with at least ten years ago. For wargames with trains, there's one in one of Charles S Grant's scenario books. I think it's designed for the American Civil War or the Franco-Prussian War.

Our wargaming group has a copy of the Bolt Action D-Day set that we still need to build. We might not be able to get it completed before the anniversary.
