You inspire me to make things more lovely ay home like using my china dishes and putting out flowers. We have become a bit too casual in California. It Is so uplifting to surround ourselves with elegance and beauty. Classical music and if course Christmas music will also add to the ambiance.

for the tart, if you would like individual layers just for presentation sake, stick the tart shell with raspberry base into a freezer for half an hour before adding the butter mixture on top. it will keep the layered effect this way.

Once again, Thank You Nicolas!! I simply love almond tea. Now that I have my finances somewhat in order, I am looking forward to purchasing a packet of your loose tea. As a single person, I buy real, small wreaths or bundles of evergreen and holly and hang it off one of the nails on my bookshelf. Like yourself, my apt is very hot owing to being on a low floor. A trick I was taught by the florist I purchase from is: soaking the wreath or bundle of evergreen in the tub with water for about40-60 mins then shake out. you can also maintain the green by doing this each week or every 2 weeks. OR you can spray it with water. I was told someone did this and kept their wreath for almost a year!!!

I'm not sure if it was just me, but as an American I had never heard of a Bakewell Tart until I moved to Ireland! Your recipe sounds delicious! So does the almond tea!

Autumn is so lovely in Scotland, and Bakewell tarts are the best dessert for the season.

Traditionally, my daughter, (now) 8-year-old grandson, and I would always schedule a holiday tea at a nice hotel in downtown Portland. We loved the individual tea pots, tea strainers, holiday music played on a grand piano, and the lovely 3-tiered trays filled with finger sandwiches, scones, and goodies. It was expensive but it was a treat that we all looked forward to. We felt lucky this year to be able to participate once again after skipping the last 2 years. This year was a bit disappointing. No pianist, skimpy decorations, yet we still paid upwards of $60 per person. After watching Nicholas' video on how to prepare an afternoon tea, I was inspired to create our own tea. I can't tell you how excited I am with the preparations! I have Peacock Garden dishes, just ordered Earl Grey Blue tea, and a beautiful dragonware teapot! I found the cutest blown-glass place card holders on Amazon that also hold a single bloom. To top it off, I found a youtube video that shows how to make a simple folio. I plan to find blue-themed marble paper and create a little keepsake book with 12 pages to record details of what I hope will be our monthly tea! Thank you so much, Nicholas!! (I just ordered your almond tea. Can't wait!!)

Your Bakewell tart looks yummy. I'm going to try making one. I too thought I would never have an artificial tree but several years back as a single mom with two teenagers they ditched me for their friends the day we were suppose to go cut down our tree. I had to go by myself and then struggle getting the tree in the house and set up. The next year, I bought a fake tree and have no regrets. I saved a tree, don't have to worry about watering or a dry tree, no needles in the carpet and I can set up the tree whenever I want. Makes my life so easy. Get a prelit tree if you can.

I used to have a sofa set same as your sofa fabric pattern Nicolas. And do have the same Monet book I adore as painting is my hobby and Monet is my favorite painter. Thank you for a nice stories you shared. Can't wait to see your holiday e-book! ;-).

Wow, your tart looks so delicious! But I really smiled when you kept smelling the almond tea. My father who passed away at 95, use to open his packet of Constant Comment tea, and the look on his face when he would inhale the scent was so sweet. He would keep the packet on the counter all day and continue to take a whiff whenever he went in the kitchen . That scent gave his so much pleasure, and will always remind me of him. Also I agree that what makes having or going to an afternoon tea now a days so special, is that it is a relaxing, calming treat, that most of our busy lives don't leave time for. I love that you make the time. So today I will make a cup of tea and have a treat all by myself, and smile with pleasure. Thank you,

Cut some real pine and cedar and other small branches. Chop them up and put them in a bowl or basket. This will give your home the wonderful scent of the season that the faux tree is missing. Thank you, as always for a peaceful and uplifting video.

Thank you for sharing your new almond tea and recipe for Bakewell Todd! I'll have to buy a tart pan though. I made Shepard's Pie today and homemade oat cakes, too. Almond flavoring is one of my favorites and we have a great bakery here, 'The Cottage Bakery" that makes great almond croissants with almond marzipan filling! Hi We are now on our way back after a weekend on the Chatsworth estate for the firework display, Then today a visit to the shops in the old stable yard. and to the farm shop to bring back many delicious goodies, including a Bakewell pudding . We will return at the end of November to visit the house all decorated for Christmas and buy our tree from the Chatsworth estate. With good wishes.

Even though I am Dutch and live in the Netherlands, in the afternoon we always use tea 🫖. I adore the English culture and rituals very much and at three o’clock we use the tea with cake, as we live in a medieval castle we always have people here around who restorate things here, or do the garden, so it is a nice peace of rest in the afternoon. In the morning we drink coffee.

You're right about Chatsworth - we have stayed there in a caravan many times, and it is especially atmospheric on Christmas Day. They will give you the key to the secret gate and you can walk around the extensive grounds on Christmas morning ! Heaven ! Great video Nicolas xx

Thank you for another great video. Here’s a thought: when people are established, whether rich, not, or in the middle, they either have what they need or know what they need. Gifts of experiences or thoughtful distraction often go farther. For her 60th birthday, I bought my sister one square foot of forestland in Scotland and made her a Lady! Her kids bought her a tiny ownership in a Swiss vineyard. (We didn’t collaborate I swear!). But her dreams now are full of ideas. And her cupboards can still get emptied as those not so little ones find their own paths. 💜😊

I simply love your silver tea pot. I learned how to clean my older silver easily with WD40. This is actually glorified fish oil but it’s easy on the silvers finish and shines like the beauty silver truly is!

Totally agree Chatsworth is stunning! My dear friend from uni studied in the US I visited her & her family in 2011 in Derbyshire or Derby and they took me around so many parts of the UK Whitby was another favorite. Can’t wait to visit the UK again soon I hope!

I would love you to have a living Christmas tree in your home, then you would not have the problem of it drying out at all - it is what I have every year, and she goes out in the garden in her big pot to carry on growing through the year. I do have it where my greyhound Madge will not walk on the needles, if any drop. I too have a fake Christmas tree in my middle upstairs window, lit up at night, for anyone coming down our lane to see. I start decorating my house from tomorrow ( 1st November) as I live alone, with my rescue greyhound Madge, and just love all the joy of decorating the house for Christmas! I think it is lovely that you set a place for your viewers. I have donated all of my teapots, which I am thinking might have been a mistake🤔. I had not used them in quite some time, but I think I was overly zealous in giving them all away. Hmmm. Well, it might be an opportunity to purchase a new, beautiful one.
