Thank you for being a blessing. I'm 27 and when I was 17 my highschool had a ROTC program for the Air Force. It was cool, I wasn't going to join. I just knew that I had kept the thought in the back of my mind. After graduating highschool I didn't have a university in mind other than community college and the local 4 year university in my town... It's best for me to say I would have done better by 27 years old if I went to community college for a 2 year program or if I went to the Air Force at the time. I have debt from 2 four year programs and I wasn't able to finish it. (too expensive). I applaud you for having a strong understanding of self to go for the discipline and the adventure of the military (or anything else you want). Your videos are informative for people who are considering to transition from civilian to soldier, so they don't get played. Have a blessed day hun! I'm considering national guard because I have a little one at home.

Depends on the branch. The Air Force and Navy are more selective because if you get a good job in those branches you can go on to make the BIG BUCKS when you get out. My current career field in the AF leads to well over $100,000 in the civilian sector. It is annoying to be heavily underpaid working next to my civilian counterparts but I know I'll pretty much be them once I get out with all the certs and qualifications.

@@rea280 I got a bachelors in engineering. I signed a 6 year contract to work on fighter jets. I already had an associates when I went in so it took me only 2 years to finish when I started taking classes online again. They have different methods for paying your college, and the best is the G.I Bill. However I chose not to use the GI Bill since I was pretty much almost done with my degree. I worked different jobs/careers and even had a job that had me make $100k. Lost everything, back to square one And I see possible WW3 happening. So I ship next month on the 2nd. Question you mentioned bout pursing college while you are in active duty. Is there a success rate for infantry people having time for college? Or any stories you heard bout their struggles or something? Aaron, I am considering join the RCAF. (Royal Canadian Air Force) I've heard loads of those pilots make decent amounts of money and some even become astronauts, what is annoying is that it is insanely hard to get into the RCAF. Recruiters are assigned to an area of operation of zip codes. That’s it. You can join the Air Force without any education all an applicant needs is a 65 and above on the ASVAB. There is more benefits besides tuition assistance, certifications, license etc VA home loan, federal employment, retirement at 20 years The number #1 reason people join is because of travel When something becomes “free” the quality & value goes down. No one will value a bachelors degree if it’s free. For me it’s what I’ve done in my life, at the end of my life, if I am shown a movie. I’m gonna be proud of myself. That would not happen if I just went to college and “worked”

From India,here the reason why there is a large serving members are due to the advertising and other stuffs,we have something similar to an NCOs which is subedar who are recruited by taking their PFT and mental aptitude,their pay scale is pretty decent compared to an officer,to serve as a soildger in this country is a matter of honour and respect thus there is a lot of respect in the society for these guys unlike the US and they would also get subsidies from the government.And if you have to become an officer you to take a written test with multiple rounds of interview to qualify after which you would make shit ton of money in the serving with lots of privilages

@golfery5119
@golfery5119 10 месяцев назад
@@Unrealenting I doubt it. I seriously doubt it. The Army is much more a young kids game not only physically but also emotionally, than the other branches are. Plain and simple. When I reclassed my mos and went through ait for it again, we had several older Army trainees who complained about being treated like small children while the Navy and Air Force kids got to be treated with more maturity. You have 18 year old Air force kids who are allowed to go outside by themselves, but at the same time a thirty something year old Army trainee in the same place who is married and has kids has to be punished if he doesn't have a battle buddy come with him to the bathroom because he chose to join the wrong branch. The military basically punishes enlistees for not being married by making them stay in the barracks. The Air force guarantees that if you are stateside you will be out of the barracks by e4, and in many cases even e3. The Army, unless you are in an extremely unicorn situation (like one guy who told me recently that his son is in an Intel job on a space force base), will not let you out of the barracks until (if) you make e6, with some cases maybe e5. I've heard older soldiers complaining about having to stay in the barracks for so long. If you listen, you'd only have to stay in the barracks for at most a couple of years. The army deals with mass punishments more than the other branches. Yeah find an older person who wants to steal deal with those games like that. So no, being older and more mature does not in anyway whatsoever mean you can tolerate the sheer nonsense and absolute bullshit the U.S.Army puts on lower enlisted soldiers, ON TOP OF the standard nonsense that all the branches do. That's why I would advise older people considering joining the military to either a) try to come in as an officer instead of enlisted, if possible Or b) join national guard/reserve instead of active duty Or c) it's been said countless gazillion times, I know, but try to give the Air Force (or space force or coast guard) some consideration. You get paid the same money with the same benefits, without the extra bullshit and nonsense.

Even with universal health care and other benefits the military now offers, I believe there will still be people joining. (Let's not go into recruitment goals, etc.) The United States, more so than many other country out there, are deeply in rooted in the sprit of military service and the core of what the military stand for. Not every country in the world is like that. Others (like those in country with conscription) may see it more as a legal obligation ("Do their time and get out because it's the law"), only worse of the worse do that, or perhaps other service to country is more important (teaching the new generation, etc.) and so on. The United States has a long history of military service that doesn't mirror that of those in the world (some of it may have to do with U.S.'s age or comparatively rather "mellow" things that the military has done). With that deeply rooted spirit, there will always be folks joining. For whatever reason. Another great video!
