New subscriber here. I can't pass on a reaction to SRV, my GOAT as well. I can see that you have much respect for SRV just by they way you talk about him. I love him, and I thank you for this reaction.
had heard of srv 20 yrs ago, never heard any of his music knowingly, until this utube video 2yrs ago and have listened to this version of little wing and voodoo child in elmucumbo at least 10 times a month in the last two yrs. unbelievable musical noise from the guitar this man made along with the incredible way your transfixed watching him play. the best musician I've ever heard or seen on the Internet.
Yes! Yes! Yes! Finally someone on said it, Stevie Ray can play Jimi Hendrix better than Jimi Hendrix, I don't understand when I watch guitar God's or Best guitarist of all time Stevie Ray is never #1 but WHY? Stevie Ray Vaughan could play guitar behind his head, broken string, switched guitar in the middle of a solo, one hand, no hands just by moving the guitar up and down, backwards, teeth, tune his guitar while playing, adjust his AMP'S while playing one handed and in this song if you watch close he uses his elbow. If anyone can show me a guitarist that could do those things anyone past, present, Country, rock anything I'd like to see it. STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN IS THE GOAT FOREVER
Otherworldly inspiration, technical mastery with precision & nuance. LIke a Pete Maravich, Larry Bird, Einstien, Carlsen.... On another level unto themselves; totally immersed in their singular passion & pursuit that they can play with their abilities as inspiration would suggest. It's an inspiring privilege to witness any master perform, regardless of genre. My current favorite is his 'In Session' video with his mentor: Albert King. ***Edit: Buddy Guy is the only Old-Guard Legend still remaining. Gotta put him in bubble wrap... & gotta make my way back to Chicago to watch him perform at his Legends Club... maybe get my mojo hand while I'm down there. =D
One of the best guitar songs, and an amazing version no doubt. I highly recommend Roys Blues from Roy Buchanan's Live Stock album as another amazing blues/rock epic tune.
Stevie's such a legend, i did just recently re-watch him with Albert King again; great, great stuff. And there are still people paying tribute to him all over, if you're interested Asterism did a very good rendition of Scuttle Buttin', and I at least feel like the man himself would be proud, it's a seriously nice cover. Yep, one of the greatest. Maybe you take a look at the original song? It's by Jimi Hendrix - For me Hendrix never was "One of the Greatest" - he was "The Greatest". Maybe there are/were technically better guitar player than Hendrix (e.g. SRV), but he was the first Real Guitar Superstar in Rock Music and he opened many doors for the following generations.
Of course I know the original. I got into Jimi before I found SRV. For my taste I prefer stevies Version, same with Voodoo Child, but it's close. They are definitely both iconic guitarists
@@jokerreactions7077 Yes, agree they are close. In 1971 (I was 15) I bought the Electric Ladyland vinyl and was blown away. So please excuse me, have to listen to 1983 (A Merman I Should Turn To Be)…
You know when I hear people say things like Jimi Hendrix was the first great guitarist to use certain techniques and others followed I always think these people think all this started with Jimi Hendrix? I totally disagree. In 1965 Eric Clapton went to a club called The Marquee Club in London where he lived at the time and watch a man play his guitar with his teeth, behind his head, pick his guitar (SRV did alot) with a drum stick he took from his drummer and more, that man was a good friend of Stevie Ray Vaughan's named Buddy Guy. Eric Clapton was stunned watching someone doing all this stuff and never missing a beat. Stevie Ray also performs Mary Had A Little Lamb, it was written by Buddy Guy in 1968 and he released it on July 26,1968. I don't think Buddy Guy gets nearly enough credit, my husband and I went to see Buddy Guy about 6 years ago and I was floored when he took a towel A TOWEL and played his guitar with it. To me Stevie Ray Vaughan will always be the GOAT, he took things to another level imo.
