Mark Hamill's Joker is an impression I love to do to get those evil juices flowing!
I've played with it off and on for years. I know I'm not a perfect 1:1, and there are some REALLY good impressionists all over RU-vid, but I still LOVE to unleash my inner maniacal villain.
Apologies for the low quality audio, most of the time I record these while driving to/from work, probably looking like a madman. Should probably one day get my hands on some nice recording equipment.

Whoa you captured a lot of the essence of 90s Mark Joker. Really good!

Dang you nailed the 90s Mark voice. I know majority of Batman fans prefer the Arkham performances but personally I’m a big fan of his DCAU years. Hope you do more of these in the future!

Something about Animated Series Joker hits different compared to Mark Hamill's other Joker roles. I love his whimsical way he would talk but when he got serious or mad he do a 180 and sound intimidating. He maintained that vibe until Arkham Asylum and thats when you can hear age catch up to Mark. He still good in the Joker roles past that but i miss his younger voice.

“DON’T TOUCH ME OLD MAN.. I don’t know where you’ve been, ha ha!” Loved it myself! Hamill has always been great, but 90’s BTAS through Justice League Joker in where it was peak for me.

Yeah he’s never been quite as fun and dangerous as he was in the animated series due to his sheer unpredictability. Or like how he’ll be basically using a flirty voice to talk to Batman, then shout at Harley with pure rage in the same breath. So good.

Completely agreed. His young voice didn’t rely on rasp to sound intimidating, it was the dynamics! And he has that much more comical whimsy that trails off some of his sentences. That, and the nasally evil tone he’d put on when he was pissed, like he said “don’t touch me old man!”

@@filmaticpictures9693 Exactly! Going to be honest, as someone who has consistently listened to Hamill's maniac voice from Trickster to BTAS to Arkham, I really don't think some of the rasp was entirely "on purpose" per se. People like to emulate the rasp in their Joker impressions, but it can sound forced because I believe Hamill's was more natural to his aging vocal chords (not to mention being a smoker), while other folks who are younger have to create it more purposefully. Obviously he was aware of how he sounded and utilized it for sounding evil, but I think that was just the nature of his voice when doing similar to what I'm doing with my throat. It gets progressively more and more noticeable every couple of years. I mean he did go from about 41 in 1992 to 58 in 2008 where his Arkham voice sounded like almost a different human.

@@thehamillwholaughs I agree. A lot of his changes over the years have to do with natural changes in his vocal chords due to aging and smoking.

I just listened to both audios and I got to say it’s really good. I can definitely say for sure that this is almost as close to Mark Hamill’s Joker.

@laurelsilberman5705
@laurelsilberman5705 2 года назад
Pretty good! Some constructive criticism: I think the rasp you put on the way you said “Batman” at the very end should be added some some of your longer and higher pitched vowel sounds. This sounds almost like a teenaged Joker, a little too young still. And he’s a little more New York than you are here, accent wise. But I’d give this a solid thumbs up! Voice impressions are really hard, for me it helps if I have one phrase I return to in order to “slip into character” that really epitomizes the weirdest parts of the performance. Once you can really nail that, free styling becomes much more natural.😁and don’t be afraid to really throw your vocal chords around in new ways-one other technique is to start by overperforming it as if you were doing a satirical recreation and then dial it back to normal. Good luck!

Let me just say from experience though is that people can very nit picky when it comes to impressions if you don’t sound exactly like the person. It’s why I stopped titling videos that I was doing a Hamill impression and just claim to be doing a Joker voice inspired by him.

I’ve seen! Following Joker media is something I’ve done for a very long time, and I’ve been both the snobby reviewer in my younger years to being more relaxed and understanding that people won’t have identical vocal chords and don’t have to sound exactly like Hamill to be good. I knew that was a risk posting these impressions, and figured I’d let ‘em come at me lol. I like my Joker to sound suave and not so gravely. The way I figured it, Hamill probably didn’t fully intend the “gravel” in his voice lots of folks try to carry into their impressions (and also far less in his early Animated appearances), and tried just applying the general sense of performative glee and mischief. Figured that would stand out if my “version” you could say, just as Troy Baker and Richard Epcar adopted other qualities.
@jacktoma21
@jacktoma21 2 года назад
True, the gravel was more just an unintentional consequence of him getting older and his voice changing as a result. You can hear the transition from his last couple DCAU appearances to the Arkham games. I started trying not to do the gravel but started incorporating it to try and sound more accurate and people did start saying I sounded better.

@@thehamillwholaughs lol, it's still good, just got to add just a pinch of 'gravel' to the voice. You know the tone that sounds a little like 'you haven't slept for days' and I think you got it.
@thehamillwholaughs
@thehamillwholaughs 2 года назад
@@budgetbiker26 Sure, totally understand that’s more core to Hamill’s Joker, albeit far less in his younger years. Hoping I can actually make my impression my own too, just as much as Troy Baker and Richard Epcar sound good as Jokers in their own unique ways.
@budgetbiker26
@budgetbiker26 2 года назад
@@thehamillwholaughs I think you could, just got to figure out your own way of getting that tone. see I had so many cases of strep throat when I was a kid my vocal chords are nothing more than straps of fine leather at this point. So it ain't Hard for me to make an iron giant impersonation, although I would gladly trade that for not sounding like corps bride whenever I have casual conversation.
