Nice to see a video covering these eras of ancient Japan, particularly Kofun. If anyone's interested, these tombs are literally all over Japan (with the exception of Hokkaido) - they number in the tens of thousands. Hopefully they become more known in the future.

With the achievements of many years of research, the Jomon period began around 14000 BC and continued until the 4 th century BC. It is said that the Yayoi period started from the 4th century BC (or the 10th century BC) and continued until the middle of the 3rd century AD. Many things have been clarified in the last few years due to discoveries through numerous excavations and progress in scientific research methods. There were many mistakes in historical inference and due to beliefs. Numerous natural scientific evidences support that the theory that influence from China and the Korean Peninsula was the main stream is almost wrong. As one example,Cell fossils of rice cultivated rice cultivated along with agricultural tools from the ruins of about 6000 years ago (Asanebana shell mound in Okayama) have been found.

The jomon pottery found at Aomori, Japan is likely to be made 14,500 bc, which was analyzed by carbon 14 isotope analysis.

nice work but all of okinawa, honsyu(mainland), ainu people have jyomon DNA as their major part, it sounded to me as if only ainu people are decendants of jyomon.

How much did art and material culture of the neighboring Chinese Han Dynasty affect Japanese art and material culture of the contemporaneous Yayoi period? The Chinese maintained a far more advanced civilization at the time and even held small colonies (i.e. commanderies) in what is now North Korea. As the video above alludes with that golden seal dated 57 AD, the Han Chinese also maintained some sort of diplomatic relations with "Wa" Japanese chieftains and petty rulers.

There are two Kofun burials in Zentsuji, Kagawa, Japan from the early 6th century. Same Keystone shaped and pretty well preserved from the looks of it.

Well i found photos online in ancient times. Some one Palace pots from another country that looks similar to yayoi pottery. And who ever ask me the questions i would gladly tell you. Have a amazing day today.

Wow you would have scored a perfect mark in my midterm exam. The question was, "Differentiate the Jomon, Yayoi and Kofun". I got most of the Jomon and Yayoi but only mentioned the creation of the feudal societal hierarchy such as Emperors in the Kofun. Not my best answer but I ll take it.

It has been considered Yayoi types came from through Korea peninsula in Japan, but the most recent DNA analysis of human and rice clarified such perspective. They came from China continent, not though Korea peninsula. Our history textbook will be revised soon.

Tommy Nakajima Nope. You are wrong. The japanese ancester is Jomon people. The appearance of the Jomon people was completely different from that of Asian ancestors because their eyes were round and their noses were high. After that, the appearance of Japanese people changed due to mixed blood with other Asians and changes in eating habits, but some Japanese still look like Jomon people. In addition The National Institute of Genetics in Japan has revealed that the genes of Jomon people are inherited to Japanese whose appearance has changed. In Japan, there are strate from which fossile such as dinosaurs and primitive mammals are excavated, and now it seems that there were once lost land. From such places in Japan, fossils of Jomon people's ancestors were discovered, and endemic species not found in other areas have existed in Japan since ancient times.

Considering the date (300 BCE-300 CE) is it possible that Yayoi are of Hunnic (Xiung-niu) origin ? These dates coincide with Hunnic expansion. Thanks for the video.

No, xiong nu People had slab stone grave not kurgan or korun. But qin dynaties were Turkic and had kurgan culture. Sinolog edward says Qin People were Turkic and in that time there is not chinese People.

yayoi is originated from ancient baiyue tribes. from kingdom of wu. its today southern china. it was before the han-chinese come to this area. jomon is the native japanese. it is very ancient, and originated long long ago between tibet and thailand. japanese language is japonic family. some say it is isolated, but research show it is relative to southeast-asian langauage families. i always heard similar between my langauge and maori and austronesian

今日本では縄文文明という言われ方をして見直され始めていますね。こういうビデオは価値があります。ただ、現代日本人のDNAは半島・大陸の人々とは違うようですし、弥生時代の始まりが朝鮮半島を経由してきた渡来人によるものという認識には誤りがあると思われます。また、下の方も言ってますが、稲作文化も長江方面から伝来したというのが現代の定説です。対馬海峡を渡るのは簡単でなく、朝鮮半島との繋がりが大きくなったのは、古墳時代あたりからと思われます。

According to new theory, Yayoi should be deleted. We Japanese are Jomon descendants. Modern Japanese is so called Modern Jomon Japanese. One third of Jomon people came from Southern Asia by Black current of ocean and it runs so fast even now.Japanese Izumo shrine structure is similar to Indonesia traditional house. And Indonesian people eat Natto also. The black current runs from near Indonesia to Japan, but at Okinawa the black current is divided by 2 way. The left current runs to Tsushima strait with fast running to separate Japan and Korea permanently.

jomon(and ainu) originated in northeast siberia. not southeast asia. this is old theory. new genetic evidence show jomon are northeast siberian. related to siberian and native american(tlingit and others...) indonesian(austronesians) came from chinese coast. some say they came from shandong originaly

yayoi is related to the tribes of baiyue/kingdom of wu. it located in the delta of river yangtze. yayoi is main japanese part, this is the y-DNA O. its O2 and O3 in Japanese. Japanese language is the Japonic family. some say its isolated. but others say it is the relative of southern languages of tai-kaday, austronesian and austro-asiatic. so i would say south china is correct, but it is not han chinese. its yue thank you all for interesting in japanese history.

"BCE" and "CE" (which was originally construed as "before the Common Era" and "Common Era", respectively, but can also plausibly be read as "before the Christian era" and "Christian era") have long been acceptable parlance in academic discourse.

It is wrong that the Yayoi people came from the Korean Peninsula. Since rice is a southern crop, evidence has been found that rice has been cultivated in the Japanese archipelago for a long time.

Yayoi and Kofun are from Korea. Excavation of Kofun tombs were forbidden after the first one was opened and they found Korean artifacts inside.

Kofun were Turkic Word. That cames from Korun-mak. This culture came from zhou dynaties, my tribe ok+zhou, oghuz Turkic People. İ love japan People. Xia and shang were our common state. But not zhou.
