Just seen Jon play the Usher Hall in Edinburgh starting his polarity tour. Opened with this piano piece and it was so beautiful. Hands down best concert I have ever been to.

So much depth and emotion to this. Distant rumbling sounds give sense of vast space. And the piano and the strings really penetrate to your emotional core and pull all the feels out. If that makes any sense. Hard to put the genius of Jon Hopkins into words.

I love Jon's piano works- up until this point, I have considered "Abandon Window" to be his greatest piano work of all time, and I have listened to it several hundred times. But this might rival it as his best. Jon's more than just a producer, as he releases more I hope he gets more recognition for his beautiful writing and sound design.

Amazing, evocative and brave. Two questions however: 1: when does the pedal become part of the percussions? Super exaggerated here, so loses part of the impact. 2. What the f@ck do I do with this in my sets? Usually carefully curated Jon H. leads to many enthusiastic track requests. This one not one for the floor. Don’t get me wrong however, I love it!

Kind of flat really, but yeah people hear different things. I grew up on classical and the three B’s, so this kinda’ comes off as a somewhat generic max richter film score. I’m glad people are enjoying it tho, this is a pretty inspired artist overall.

I agree. Einaudi-esque noodling with repetitive LH arpeggios is pretty for a bit then just pretty static. A good knowledge of the kind of classical piano music that inspires this stuff often makes it a bit underwhelming.

I love it, but this is to similar to Beethoven - Piano Sonata N. 14 "Moonlight Sonata". And I also agree with argue that it has some influences of Nils Frahm.
