6 months 2 hrs a day is all it takes for basic round/ side kicks. Even spinning back kicks to the body arent too bad to get to a functional level. When it becomes difficult and takes more time is with hook kicks, tornado kicks, and spinning back kicks to the head. The last three require vastly more experience and training to even fire accurately let alone to time them properly. Your looking at 1 or 2 years till you get fluent with them.

I'll never forget Jon Jones when he was on the come up. My dad and I didn't really have a lot in common or spend a lot of time together when I was growing up. One thing we bonded over was our love for UFC, Boxing and other combat sports. I was a really good amateur boxer and he was a very good wrestler in his day so we both liked the UFC and Boxing. We would bet $20 a fight normally and we'd order the PPV and order Pizza for dinner. Such great memories cause I didn't spend a whole lot of time with him in those days. I remember my dad doubting Jon Jones, I took him against I believe it was Ryan Bader. My dad took Bader and lost. Next fight against Shogun he bet me again and I won. Next fight against Rampage Jackson my dad was all-in on Rampage and bet me $50 and I won that one too. He was even more convinced that Machida was going to beat him but I told him "Dad stop betting against him, I don't want to keep taking your money just admit that he's amazing and he's going to become the champion" and sure enough he did. Finally after how dominating he was against Machida and Belfort he admitted that he was wrong and that Jon Jones was the real deal. Really unfortunate what happened to his career and all the issues outside of the octagon but inside of it, I don't think there has been a more dominant fighter than him.

great story, reminds me of my pop an myself. you are right my friend i agree, there has never been a more dominant fighter, in any combat sport which is saying a whole lot. jon is a blessing for us cause were all alive at the same time, an get to see an enjoy something people can get 10 life times an not see. p.s. look at the real frank dukes an his greatness, an even he had his bad day by a simple, low side right kick to his head, as he attacked his opponent legs, with a bit of a leg slide. it was out of character for him but he knew to be careful of his opponents right leg kick, a french guy, not very big etc.. but just timed a perfect quick but accurate/blink an you will miss it low side kick to dukes head. knock out!!!! you can def find the footage, its low quality 1970s work and takes place on a mat, that's it plus its not a moment they want to emphasize for frank dukes. but even as good as he was IT HAPPENED... another reason people should take a long look at jones.

Bones is basically the perfect storm for a professional fighter. Raw talent/genetics, dedication, starting in the early part of his prime, rounded and intelligent skillset, perfect record (disqualifying loss is bs), defended his title, and fought when the division was popular so he had good matchups. So many greats are often lacking in one or more of these areas, which either hurt their career or their reputation in discourse of their greatness; but he had it all. He's basically the perfect competing fighter on paper. His only issue is his personal controversies. But that kind of fame and success seems to make everyone act irrationally.

@Guzman.J.W Guillermo guess you would have to understand the damage of being hit like that to get it. It's like that because it's as if you're under water when you get hit like that and you can easily panic when you're getting put into that state or you can not know when to quit and get permanent injuries

Most people did. This dudes “prime years” were spent serving suspensions. Jon’s best fights happened from 2012-2015 (excluding the Gus rematch and the Cormier 2 fight).
