everyone can keep hating jones but hes as humble as can be and never overlooks or takes anything away from his opponents. he maintaims his confidence but knows he aint invincible.
I understand the peds comments cause I hate jon jones I'm a real DC khabib fan , but dude your not going to win against a champ by backing up and throwing 1 kick 2 punches every time it takes just a little more
@Danny Smith I have trained top roid head monsters in pro bodybuilding. And steroids give you muscle development being belief. But sorry steroids do nothing for a strong chin buddy. If I'm wrong show me the research my friend.
He ran and did absolutely nothing for the last two rounds of a championship fight. That's not what champions do. He ran his way to a loss because he was faded and afraid...
Why say cocaine ya fanboy? We all know he took 3 different kind of steroids and eyepokes everyone lmao. Thats the only reason he looked better. He is technically better now but less steroids and the fans made the refs call him out on eyepokes
Mike D it’s real easy for everyone to say that. But the fact is that what he has to go in there and do on fight night is the furthest thing from fake. So say what u will but 90 percent of ppl in the entire planet couldn’t do it.
People look back at his old fights.. and say he’s washed.. or no steroids (which is a joke) makes him weak.. but in reality.. fighters improve with eras the same way football or nba players improve.. I’m not a jon Jones fan, but instead of picking apart why he’s not as dominant.. appreciate how good you have to be to adjust to the new breed of fighter.. that has all the tools.. and athleticism+technology to be super human. Somehow jon jones keeps winning. Not Easy.. these new fighters are well rounded and better than ever before. Much respect to jon.. reinventing himself each fight. If you’ve never been to the mountain top.. you wouldn’t understand how hard it is to stay there.
Jones needs to look back at his old fights and find that fire again. He's too worried about not getting tired than actual fighting... Hes so much better than this... He lost this one for sure
Lmao idiot. Thats the steroids and him being allowed to eyepoke every opponent without a warning nor point taken. Fucking roid jon fanboys are fuckikng scums.today he lost another fight but the judges gifted it to him
King Killer no way man. Think of it this way, if their performances were switched you would have said Jones definitely won it. It’s biased because it’s jones. The numbers don’t lie, Reyes had more significant strikes and the takedowns were more scrambles than take downs. No damage done. It’s a fight not a game.
@Name Name He is definitely still being fake which is why I put realer in quotation marks. At least he is trying to be more honest. From my experience people with this level of arrogance don't do it on purpose. He's seemed to develop a little bit of self awareness anyway.
The takedowns and pressure swayed the Judges, Reyes definitely won the first three but Jones visably won the fourth and won the fifth looking dominate, Everyone knew if it went another round Jones would tko reyes, Jones took Reyes best and adapted while Reyes did the opposite . It was a very close fight and the saying always did go "to beat the champ you have to beat the champ" meaning you have to outperform / outclass the champ. No use being salty Reyes lost, I personally would have liked to seen a draw but o well
Exactly Jones is a true champion and he young people act like they didn’t make mistakes or wasn’t 21 -25 he been in the spot light of greatness at a very young age look at Tyson at 19 most of this punks hating would of been drug addicts or homeless by now
sammy graham I agree. Although a hit and run on a pregnant woman is a very rare mistake amongst people in general BUT I can understand why a world champion in a organization that’s seen as the pinnacle of its sport would panic and flee the scene. I will say I can’t understand the hate on him for doing coke lol I never did coke but I got connects off the wife to have sold and used till I died. There’s a shit ton of Pro MMA fighters and Boxers who are coke heads and if you been in a gym worth shit and around people on that level you’d know that. Shit there are kids in middle school and high school who do coke it’s not that uncommon.
Rewatching the fight for me it became clear that Jones is the champ. Everyone can go out there and throw out a bunch of punches and die out. Jones handled it like a true champ keeping high tempo until the very last second. He's not 25 anymore, but very smart and precise. Totally deserved to keep the title.
@@glebe5039 I'm really not mad about it lol, but I can state facts and most people know Reyes won that's why it was called a robbery by so many. Not a Reyes fan at all, but I do have eyes.
Reyes didn't do anythin special in round 1. Jon ducked 99 percent of his punches and also landed some clean leg kicks. 1, 4, and 5 were definitely Jon's rounds. 3 was also very close
You can't win a championship fight while getting walked down and only counter punching, as well as running the last 2 championship rounds. Reyes did well but he didn't do enough to TAKE the belt from the champion. He was on his back foot pretty much the whole fight. It is what it is.
The Audacious Investor idk how anyone is going to knock him out. That uppercut he got hit with would have put down a horse. Jon might have the best chin of all time.
No Reyes could have won on points he just bailed last two rounds and started running like he was scared. Last three rounds prolly the only shit refs remember.
@@WetsuMir buthurt for what? I don't give a shit about Reyes, tbh I had no fuckin idea who he was before he fought jones. But let's be real here everyone with a brain could see that jones didn't deserve this win
Every time jon has a close fight all of the sudden his opponent was “robbed”. People said the same thing when he faced Gustafson the first time and when he recently faced santos. People take any chance they can get to hate on jones or make him a loser. Smh
stacey1977ful I saw jon winning 3,4, & 5 but okay!! I saw Jon scoring takedowns and being aggressive and landing at a much higher % (look at the significant strikes landed % it’s not even close) reyes Can’t back up the entire fight and expect to become champion
Well, a few months back Jones was acting cocky, by saying Reyes and the other LHW contenders weren't a challenge to him, and a fight with Ngannou was inevitable. I'd love to see Ngannou test his chin, I just know it won't ever happen.
@@David-vk2co Reyes only won 1 and 2 no way he won the fight and Jon was the one moving forward No way Reyes did enough to win the first fight with gus I dont know never seen it but gus did not even show up in the second one
U do know this is MMA nd not just BOXING🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ Jones may have got out struck in the first 3 but he mixed it up more to get that slight advantage in the score cards nd win the fight. SIMPLE Props to Reyes tho he a warrior
Nobody talking about the center control or the head movement of Jon Jones. The expectations are too high. He went out & beat Reyes, who is an undisputed killer.
@Iron Bear i dnt have a problem w those who say Reyes won , but to beat a goat , take his belt, who hasn't lost in a decade, I think it needs to be a more definitive victory than a split decision by the judges. Actually I take that back. Reyes was fading in the 4th & 5th. He even admitted it in the presser. If there was a 6 or 7 rd Jones would have finished him imho.
muirthilevincit Reyes came for 1 or 2 round fight like he is used to.... That’s why all is output was in the first 2. Jon came for a 5 rounder, dealt with the pressure in the first 2, gained a little bit in 3 and totally dominated in 4&5... that’s a champion right there....
It was definitely close. Reyes clearly won most of the first half jones clearly won most of the second half. I thought reyes should have won, but next time I'm confident jones will adapt and win without having to rely on bad judges
The fight should of been judged a draw an extremely close fight but Reyes didn’t beat him enough to take the belt, but a draw would of been the fairest result for that particular fight
Stringprodigy so he’s saying they are armchair quarterbacks. People with no experience in the ring or the fight game other than watching a pay per view on sat.
He needs to slow down. He's fought like 3 people within a year. Being 32 and going 5 rounds in fights won't be good for his chin if he fights this regularly.
I hadn't thought about that, but you bring up a good point. Watching Jon fight highlights on RU-vid was what got me into MMA in the first place, I hope he's healthy enough to keep competing for years to come, always entertaining to watch. Seems like more than 2 or 3 fights a year would be a mistake, especially when he's cleaned out the LHW division & holds the belt.
jones was moving forward every round he was pushing the pace he had a few take downs he was strong every round never slowed down and he is the current belt holder . Leaving it to the judges in a title fight is a no no . One must out right beat the champ in any division to take the crown .
Jones takedown led to no damage being inflicted to reyes, and your point about jones being strong every round is wrong when he got dominated in the standup for the first three
Dominick Reyes gave Jon Jones a good fight, but Jon tired him out through the fight. I don't think it was unanimous, but it was a good decision to give the win to Jon Jones because at the end of the day the challenger has to be beat the champion.
Chad Blunt if u win 3 rounds out of 5 then u beat them champ. Which is why Reyes did. The 1 judge who had it 4-1 should be barred from judging ever again. That’s boxing corruption leaking over into UFC.
"Challenger has to beat the champion"....Which definitely happened. Reyes won rds 1-3. Rd 4 is a toss up imo. Reyes started off the 1st half of rd 4 very strong but Jones did better in the later half. Rd 5 is the only round Jon clearly won. So at best JJ won 2 rds. Reyes may have slowed down in the championship rds but he by means got dominated in those rds and rd 4 is arguable for either guy. I'm a fan of Jon and even in his last fight I scored it in favor of Jon despite it being razor close but Jones lost this one
flowerz I never said that Dominick Reyes didn’t give Jon Jones a good fight and pushed him to the limit. From watching the fight, I viewed Reyes coming out strong in the first round with left hands and some kicks which Jon Jones took the shots very well. Jon Jones was also landing kicks in the first/second round. Dominick came out strong and using his footwork in the second round which continued to give Jones problems. From the third round to the end of the fight it was a back and forth fight, but Reyes started slowing down due to all the movement. Even Joe Rogan stayed that Reyes was slowing down. Once that happened, Jones was dictating the fight and picking him apart.
@@nooriginalnamehere6972 Reyes isn't those people though is he y'all didn't even give him a chance before this fight he's gonna come back harder and claim what he deserves
Jon needs to start the fights more active. He’s being too passive early in his fights and that’s why they’re close calls. I think this should’ve been a draw
It looks like he's putting all his chips on his stamina. He usually starts doing stuff in the 4th and 5th cause it's like he knows (or at least thinks, as shown in this fight) that his opponents arent used to 5 rounds, so he tries to make them tire themselves out by the 4th, but hes also not where he used to be to be doing that
Thats true he knows that his team knows that they probably tried to work on that but it wont work because thats just how his engine works if that makes sense
Dont hope for too much. Jon is already 32 in a difficult sport. The way hes fought has always been methodical and its safer to keep doing that but hes been bulkier so if he drops a slight amount of weight I think he will be able to be more active. Depending on how round to was scored it could have been Dominic's win. He dominated the boxing exchange, if it were a boxing match he would have won, but other aspects weigh heavier when judging the fight apparently.
Reminds me of Anderson after the leg break. He lost a lot of decisions against fighters he should have beat by just waiting around & handing his opponents rounds
I honestly feel this was Reyes chance I don’t think he could win the rematch because now jon Jones knows what to look for next fight people can say what they want about jon Jones make all these ped jokes gotta give him his respect he never back down from competition 🤷🏿♂️
Jon Jones won the fight simply based off this one fact. "You have to beat the champ". Reyes didnt beat him. He won the first 2 and a half rounds but Jon kept coming forward was never really hurt and won in the championship rounds.
Then it should have been a draw then, why does Reyes get an L on his record when he was whooping Jone's ass in the first 3 rounds? The fact it was a "unanimous win" was bullshit when it was such a hard fight for both men.
You clearly dont know how to score fights. Fights are scored round by round, you dont make your mind up at the end. It dosent matter about the championship rounds! Jones lost the first 3 rds, butWins the 2 championship rounds, but losses the fight 3-2.
@@andrewstannard8361 Youre looking at it from a technical pov. The champ wasnt beaten. Reyes was gassed out the last two rounds, backing up and staring at the clock. That wont get it done
The fans are ruthless, I was at this event and it made me feel for Jones. You have to beat the champ to be the champ, it was too close. Much love and respect to Reyes and Jones!!! Great fight!!!
No you don't, you have to simply WIN THE FIGHT. the rules don't change because one of them is a champion. They took the belt from mighty mouse in a razor close decision so that logic doesn't add up.
Reyes ran for the last two rounds, almost half of the damn fight, for a reason and the judges saw that. The dude was faded and afraid. Let's go, baby! And still...
And the ROIDs aren’t in his system, he can’t finish a burger let alone his opponents...this guy will always be known as a cheat and I hate that fake speech about god and shit... I just saying looking at him through a fish bowl DC was right his FAKE AS SHIT
my Kirk I think what he meant as in cleaning up his act as in not talking to cops as a pig or banging anymore folks in cars or running away or doing drugs openly and on PEDs .. he can’t finish nobody... now days...
my Kirk well coming from you with well it’s American behavior.. yeah ok just group US ALL but what I said about him is seen world wide... it’s FACTS. do you not like FACTS ? or your just cool with people being shitty humans just cause of FAME?
People Reyes is a bad man....no doubt look at his last 12 fights! But...he did nothing he said. He said he was going to finish Jon in 3, knock him out. Jon never faced anyone like him. He made the mistake letting it go to the Judges. But his performance was out of step if you measure how he knocked out 9 of 12 and destroyed the last 12/12. It just shows you how great Jon is.
I could understand 48-47 Jones (but I don’t see it that way), but to score it as 49-46 Jones is insane. I don’t think Jones vs Reyes was clearly a robbery, but I can understand why someone might say it was.
Right! It’s always easy to say… but this fight was close. Really close. But I can see that it’s ridiculous to score the santos fight split and Reyes unanimous
Jon Jones has a James Toney chin. People don’t realize how important that is as a fighter. That being said, I don’t think he wants any more smoke from this kid.
That hit deep... “Everyone’s holes are closing, everyone knows takedown defense, everyone’s knows a little jugitsu, everyone’s...prepared” that’s so true because his last few fights have not been very dominating.
One judge gave Jon the 2nd round + 4th and 5th, One judge gave Jon the 3rd round + 4th and 5th and one judge gave Jon 2nd, 3rd + 4th and 5th. So if the judge that gave Jon the 4 rounds gets put on blast then I guess the community would have to pick what round was the "up for grabs" round, the second or the third and put that judge on blast aswell. Some people thought the 2nd round was up for grabs, some people thought the third was up for grabs. So if the community is split on that, then the judge who gave Jon 4 rounds can't really be blamed even though he also could have scored it 4 to 1 for Reyes because of the split thought processes of everyone.
Ok, so the judges who gave the second round to Jones are using some kind of drug. There is no fucking way that Jones won the second round, he was touched way more than he touched Reyes, Reyes defended all the takedowns, all the statistics are in Reye's favour
I don’t even like Jon Jones or Reyes but I don’t think he lost that fight at ALL. I honestly scored it 4-1 Jones while watching it. My friend had it 3-2 jones. Both of us agreed on a Reyes 1st round and he gave the 3rd to Reyes. All that being said Reyes was obviously Jon’s toughest fight and I think his prime is just about passed. I could see Jon losing a rematch or a different tough opponent next.
True i will awlays be a Jon Jones fan but in my heart and in the hearts of the majority of the fans there is only one Lightheaviweight Champion of the world right now and his name is Dominick Reyes.
@@Reypstraptor4269 I almost thought the same thing. But after analyzing and watching the fight once more on mute (without the idiot commentators) Jones CLEARLY outpointed Reyes.
@@tombell9399 I disagree he won it "outright" I do think it would have been less controversial if he got the win over Jon, but, that 3rd round was just way too close. It's Jon Jones, Dom needed a stoppage or an undeniable dominant performance through 4 rounds at least to secure a win, sadly he just didn't get there, this time. Rematch will be interesting though.
juan aguiluz exactly Reyes went from aggressor to trying to survive Jones kept moving forward and catching Reyes with all types of jabs and kicks of Reyes finished the fight like he started he definitely would’ve won
When Santos is well Jones is a dead man. He fought on one leg. Its just unfortunate. I'm a big Jones fan but Santos and Reyes are killers. I'd give Santos a rematch first.
@GoingDark It's true though when he saw how Gustaffson and Daniel Cormier fought in the first fights he completely dominated them in the 2nd fight (even though Jones vs Cormier 2 was a no contest because Jon Jones failed a drug test)
mradw2008 yeah fam, I wish, what’s fucked up about the UFC is that watch them make Reyes and Santos fight each other then whoever wins fights Jon 🤦♂️ I swear I wouldn’t be surprised
mradw2008 how? Santos lost both of his knees in that fight I wouldn’t doubt if he’s never the same fighter again with the damage he got using those legs.
Nome w exactly, i didnt watch the fight i woke up to all these comments about. How reyes won and i automatically concluded reyes was robbed but after watching the full fight myself it was close but jon won or at most it should be a draw not a loss
I've always said Jon Jones has the Skeletal frame of a heavyweight, with that comes the chin of a heavyweight , thats why Light weights cant wobble him much less knock him out. Only a Heavyweight has the power to test that chin of his. That's Jon Jones biggest advantage.....he is the biggest and strongest in the light weight Div
Jones has a good chin....he's good at rolling with shots and deflecting them especially since he usually has more reaction time due to his reach advantage
james bond mate you shouldnt give a shit about who talks shit to you. These days its a lot of casuals calling other people casual. Like i saw someone calling someone a casual for saying conors win over cowboy wasnt impressive in anyway whatsoever.
3rd round draw or can go either way. Round 4 and 5 Reyes was running on skates. He was tired and Jons would have finished he didn't run 2 rounds. PERIOD! Belt stays with the CHAMP!
7 out of the last 10 of Jones’ fights have gone to decision. I used to think he was a straight up killer but doesn’t seem the same man of old. Seems too preserved now
I'm a huge jon fan and hes my favourite of all time but it's clear he is now fighting clean and is just a bit better than everyone else. If he is on peds he is by far way better than anyone.
Maah Khunt yep! He didn’t do e fucking nough!!! Especially to be such a “athlete” right 😅 fucking ran around the ring last few fight I’d hate to have a champ like that the fuck
