To put things in perspective...Islam was given the #5 spot without having to fight at top 15. It was just given to him. Then he fought a #6 ranked hooker who had just fought, and accepted islam on short notice..so he trained for 1 fight..won it...accepted to fight islam in abu dhabi and never got to rest. Then Islam fought a no ranked bobby green who also had no camp...then fought charles for the belt..great finish for islam. But Charles had like 4 top 5 opps in 1.5 years..and still fought islam in abu dhabi. After Charles...was Volk. Islam got outstruck by the smaller champion...and islam laid on volk for 8 minutes of that fight with 0 ground strikes and 0 sub attempts. Which is why Volk kept his p4p status after that fight. Islam nearly lost to the smaller champion..that he called out. Then fought volk again...mind you..volk moved down ..defended his title at 45..then accepted islam again on 10 days notice and islam hadn't fought since volk the first time. Great KO for islam vs a no camp , not in shape post surgery volk...then islam took 8 months off for no reason and had a great win vs Dustin...which some had it 2-2 going into the 5th.
