One of the most beautiful arias ever written! by Riccardo Zandonai from Giulietta e Romeo Jonas Kaufmann can sing this, with all his soul. At 3.43 I drop dead !...
I can hardly bear to listen to this heart-rending rendition - one cannot approach it without the certainty that the profound pain and beauty of it will be scarring. It is not something one can listen to too often, for that reason. This version is utterly without parallel, it seems to me - what depth, what beauty, the immortal JK.
How does a track from JK's Verismo Arias cd end up on RU-vid? My God Jonas can really sing emotion. He's got such an expressive, caressing voice which occasionally breaks out into pure, desperate passion, as an aria requires. When that happens, as it does here, watch out for your heartache. I would say he's unbelievably great but, unfortunately, Jonas is SO believable that the tears will start rolling no matter how many times I listen to this. If you think this is good, you've heard nothing until you get the cd. You'll need something to mop up your tears though. Jonas Kaufmann is the most fantastic tenor of our time.
Love this,so outstanding and so profound can’t breath feeling the pain he is feeling, love you maestro, the depth and beauty and love you are feeling 4:04
Thank you, Cesca Castiglione, for posting the beautiful aria. You have chosen the accompanying photos very well. JK's singing is very soulful (Cecilia Segawa Seigle)
