Ah! I just wrote the same comment! YES!! I do believe that everything sounds like music to Joni Mitchell. Giving the audience that appreciation points to her feeling that her performance was a give and take from her to the audience and back again...a full circle experience. Joni...still teaching us about life. "From both sides now..."

I have the privilege of running into Joni in our local community in BC Canada, where she owns a property. She is so wonderful, and the last time I saw her, I said there's my favorite folk musician, and she stopped dead and said "I'm actually a jazz musician and smiled.😊

It's great to hear other dedicated Joni fans. I just wanted to suggest my favorite live Joni. Miles of Aisles with Tom Scott and the LA Express. If you've never heard it take the time to. My most played record in a 4000 record collection. It's fantastic.

Joni is the very essence of a troubadour. She did it all, she wrote her lyrics, melodies, played the piano, guitar, hammered dulcimer with seemingly effortless mastery and painted or took photos for all of her album covers. The consummate all around artist. Peerless Joni Mitchell, congratulations.

She also played her guitar mostly with alternate tunings, making it very difficult for bands working in clubs to cover many of her tunes. My husband was a keyboard player so it wasn't a problem for him, but a guest guitarist would not be able to sit in without retuning and knowing which tuning Joni used n that particular song. LOL

I won’t forget my cross-country drive from Florida to California in 2018. Somewhere in Mississippi, on a beautiful sun-filled day, I rolled the windows down in my car, played “Case of You” loudly, driving down past fields of wildflowers and rows of trees that went on for miles, tears streaking down my cheeks. I will never forget that experience for as long as I am alive.

The song, Both Sides Now, was written by Joni Mitchell but made famous by Judy Collins who recorded it first. Later, Mitchell put it on one of her albums. Check out both versions.

I.....wait ...Joni Mitchell has been my idol for so many years. She wrote my songs....with the lyrics that describe how crazy loving or heartbreaking things feel. I have sung along with her trying to hit all the highs or lows or harmonize with her. I've sung the words directly into the eyes of friends to see if they understand them as I do. She is everything I always wanted to be. I'm thrilled to see that this beautiful genius has been acknowledged in the music world. I really don't know any musician more creative than her. Yes!

I couldn't stop weeping during this performance. 😭 It's about goddamn time this woman commanded the stage at the Grammies. I am the person I am today partly because of this legend and her genius and I still play and sing her songs almost every day (I'll be 62 on Thursday). THIS is talent, people. Sadly, I see no one in this current list of nominees even coming close to ascending to her throne, with the exception, perhaps, of Phoebe Bridgers.
