I've been playing with the Hyperion CFS for about 8 months now. I came from Selkirk Invikta Vanguard, and couldn't love the Joola more. It has the right heft, surface resilience, and material integrity I was looking for. I added a couple pieces of tape to the throat to make it a little more head-light to suit my play style. So far, texture shows no sign of degradation, unlike that of my fiberglass Selkirks over the same time period. The Hyperion CFS is definitely a well thought out paddle, and I plan to continue using it as my primary. I am a 4.0-4.5 player, 5'x11" male with a thin physique. The weight of the paddle at 8.4oz+ hasn't been an issue for me - other than making my drives and serves stronger and deeper!
It's a SOLID paddle! I think it's smart to make it a bit more head light to make it more maneuverable. Other than that, it's a great paddle for defense and offense. Depth is so accessible......and power as well. I very good paddle that I really like using!
Thanks for the excellent review. I play with CRBN1-16 now and waiting for its new revision but concern it will lose the strong spin. Is CFS16 much better? Could you please compare CFS16 and CRBN1-16?
Okay...I wanted to check around with people (other than me) that I have played with both the CFS16 and the CRBN. Everyone agreed that the CRBN has more spin and an easier access to spin. The CRBN paddles were excellent overall! That being said, I agree with your concerns. Will the new CRBN have as much spin as the older ones? We will know soon! I believe CRBN begins selling their new ones this week! Maybe Friday?
They are good.....especially for a first effort from a company. They are very solid....for sure. But you still have to use good form. Thank you for watching!
I’m ready to upgrade to a pro version paddle. I never hit a 2 handed back hand and am nervous about a 5.5 inch paddle but all the features of this line sound attractive to me. Thoughts?
I don't hit a two hander in pickleball, but I did in tennis. There is space for a hand and a half for sure. That being said.....Adrienne hits with the index finger up and has no problem hitting these paddles. So either way will work!
The first Joola I tried was the the CAS 16. It had what seemed like a ridiculous amount of texture on the face. I was thinking this should be great for spin. Played with it for 2 hours and by the end the face was completely smooth! Sent it back the next day. Did you not experience the same thing?
I had to check as I'm not playing with the CAS 16......but Adrienne is. And...you're right! It's not smooth.....but some of the roughness/texture is gone (Franklin paddles like?) and the paint has begun chipping as well. We purchased an extra CAS 16 at the time so I had to get both together to compare. She's hit with it for four weeks straight now. It doesn't seem to effect her play at all and she likes it. But you're right....it is worth noting. Thank you!
not trying to be mean. but can you tell us what level you play pickle ball at.? i think when you say things like they have not great spin or what makes it in your bag for hitting 6 hours a day we sort of need to know when you play tournaments what level you play to make a judgement of your judgement
Okay. I will tell you a bit about me. When I play currently I'm a 4.0. This summer I plan to move up to 4.5 as it is time. However, I picked up this wonderful sport in the back nine of my life.....unfortunately....as father time is undefeated. I have some pretty good knee arthritis and a broken right ankle that never correctly healed.....so my tournaments are limited. I teach lessons and run clinics.....and play with friends both local and far when I travel. Once again, pickleball is a wonderful sport with great people. I am very fortunate. As far as the reviews......I am VERY lucky to know and play with people of all skill levels and they assist me in reviewing all the paddles that I purchase for testing. Their input is incredible and I couldn't do it without them. Please know that their input is from ALL levels of play.....and ALL styles of play. I appreciate that you take the time to watch our reviews and videos. Thank you!
No...just the crbn paddles as of now. Hopefully that situation will be reviewed and adjusted. I have never played with prolite paddles but I have friends who have. I'll check with them. Thank you for watching!
