The audience has not experienced life, and or had to work for a living. What this guys says is gold.I'm in my 60's,had my own business, been through a lot of what he is saying.I wish I knew this stuff when I was in my 20's.
I was in the same boat , had no real steady job until I was 23, now I'm 26 and starting my own business. Look at what your hobby is, what area of knowledge you have that you can utilize. Find a job related to it and learn all the skills you need on the job. Work your ass off and become the best in your team, find out what you are good at and stick with it, overcome obstacles, things you are bad at. Always be on time, always do a job well done and set the standards for yourself to highest level. Within the last 3 years I had been promoted 3 times, that's one promotion and a bigger monthly paycheck a year. If you you are the best in your team and you don't get promoted, look for another job in another company. Stick to that and you'll make a decent living in no time and from there you can use the skills you learned to become your own boss and really make a lot of money (if you want to)
Yay, U;n 56 and only now am I getting to understand life :) These young people are understandably bored, a) because they are mostly not motivated by money, and that's not a judgement, but he is or used to be very motivated by money (again, no judgement). A very, very interesting talk, but normally, that audience, and that speaker would not normally have ever met !
@@sparkly21 and that's how you'll fail in life. Lessons to be learned from everyone regardless of their past and the wolf spits nothing but facts these days.
Kaptain Kid don’t really see what his alleged narcissism has to do with the points he’s making, and I would think it a foregone conclusion that these talks are frequently hosted by eccentric characters 🤷🏻♂️
In case you are like me, who forget to make notes of the 10 commandments JB said... It's here: (1) Thou shall not think things are okay just because things are transparent. * The scene you get into may not be as good as it seems like. * Check your own ethics and integrity by gut (2) Thou shall trust the feeling of your stomach * Listen to that feeling (3) Thou shall commit yourself to fail elegantly * Protect your down side * Spread the risks with others * It's rare to get it right the first time (4) Thou shall commit yourself to succeed wildly * When you get right, understand what's the right moves and process (5) Thou shall know average sucks * Things working well = no change (no pain) * Your own standard leads to passion (6) Thou shall commit thou-self to master specialized skills * JB's method of learning how to write books * Model masters and copy and learn from them * First thing to do: I want to do this, what are the skills I need? Master the craft, become a force of nature. (7) Thou shall not emotionally invested in thou's goals * Goals = side poles, serve for the vision, logically based * Vision = emotionally based * Problem: set goals too low. * Goals show where you want to go (8) Thou shall cut all thee * Do too many things one time * Do give yourself a way out * Go all in, take the risk * Take out options (9) Thou shall not buy into your own BS stories * Most people buy into their BS and get nothing they want! * See things as they are , not worse than they are! * Get honest with yourself: what you know, what you don't know * Get rid of your stories * You are like a GPS: where you are, where you go (vision) (10) Thou shall commit to identify their "WHY" * The secret to become successful * Money won't take you far * What is the deepest level cause to be successful * Get deep * JB: Kids * Never give up * Most people give up too soon JB on money: * money is a solve to problems * money matters * money is single most important things for 1) food 2) shelters 3) health
This crowed will get and indeed have been in the monetary success Jordan has strived for, predominantly under the shadow of their parents. They don't give a damn. They are just there. You are full of energy Jordan Belfort, and the symbol of honesty.
This guy is so passionate and has so much presence and charisma. Would do very well in Hollywood if he ever made a go of it. A really good speaker. Questions from the audience left something to be desired however. They could for example have asked " what we're you doing and thinking when you were our age (early 20's) ? " What would you do differently if you were to do it all over again "? " Where do you think you got your self belief and confidence from?" Missed opportunities.
I see why your surname is Bozo. You can relate to this clown. I am from LI, I worked the honest side of Wall St in that era. My brother worked for an outfit similar to Belfort’s. This guy was outsized in his exploits. But no more special than an overgrown toenail. He has no class ( though he purports so much which his mother has ). Wonderful to drag her into the pitiful account.
huh? this is an English institution -- everyone doesn't have to behave like an Oprah crowd. Also, we dont hold with that shouting back routine. we are independent thinkers. the worrying thing to me is the cheer he got at the beginning. this is a (on record) crook, cheat and liar.
I think one of the reasons that the room is so non-responsive is that his message is not really targeted to them. I have heard his talks before and he usually attracts people who have fallen on hard times or cannot get ahead in life. Here, he speaks to future cabinet members, professors, members the upper class and other successful people in the making. Those guys ARE on track, they HAVE the right story. Thus, they do not really need his advice from their point of view. Another reason is that Oxford encourages critical thinking and many audience members may simply be thinking about and analysing his words. That does not mean they disagree, but they may be busy mulling it over.
Maybe he made some mishief in the past. However, he is redeeming himself. Every one deserves the oportunity to do so. He was a master salesman and is teaching how to do it honestly. Let him teach one of the best skills every one can learn. He is a master and every one there in that room should feel blessed to have him. I wish I was there myself.
there is nothing honest about salesman, its about persuasion, emotional manipulation it amoral and should be a crime. would you persuade your family to buy something or would do try to make them do it rationally as possible, check his channel, he is clearly amoral person.
My theory for what makes successful ppl is they have the ability to communicate. They're social and make friends and connections. And that's the one thing that makes you successful. That's it.
this man has done much more than many here, good or bad, he's got that influence talent, he used it to destroy, but he still got it, haters hate, I get it though
If his story can keep one young man or woman from going down the dark path of corruption, then he succeeded. He could save someone years of heartache, shame, humiliation and pain. If Michael Milken can be redeemed, why not Jordan Belfort?
Most of the comments below are saying the audience is dead, not so, his manner is too overbearing and they’re not having it. Compare this to Jordan Peterson’s talks and there’s no comparison.
Guy comes in to talk about the real world and half the kids fall asleep. Should have talked about some abstract theoretical concepts instead. Next time Jordan
@@andyw9255 first of all he didn't get rich by selling to old people. The whole points of stratton oak was to sell to the wealthiest. Second of all, maybe you missed the talk then? And in conclusion, fuck you Andy.
excellent speech by jordan he’s striving to do better and is a pure role model for why ethics and integrity are important for future entrepreneurs. yes he did bad things in his past but to make that an argument for not listening to him is stupid. These types of comments are posted by people who don’t believe that people can change and great things can happen in life. Be positive and strive to be successful with ethics and integrity, that’s the message he’s trying to get across.
At the beginning he said he was not getting paid for this. People don’t put value in things they don’t have to pay or work for. Being from Oxford many of these kids normal is getting things given to them by their parents.
I can see how he hooked so many people, and even the most savvy of us probably doubt that we could have resisted his charm in his hay day. It's a shame it wasn't like today where every phone call is recorded or anyone who had those recordings would sell them for a mint.
That guy just had his dream of being a "stockbroker" brought down to earth. There is nothing better than listening to someone who has failed and had learned from it. Not many were as spectacular as his. We can't forgive him for his misdeeds, but we can learn from the realities of life he describes. The most important of his ten messages is to be the best at something or at least as good as you can possibly be. People will pay good money for your wisdom.
@@helloMRdj1 He did his time in jail and then came out and worked hard to rebuild his life, public reputation and career. To pick yourself up like that requires, drive, courage, persistence and self-belief. Any person can learn from the principles of such circumstances, regardless of their opinion of Belfort's past lifestyle of excess.
145 people have thumbed down. We have our reasons n have our perspectives though I wonder I’d they know redemption, know a positive vicissitude when they find it. Great talk and in the right place for comprehension...
That's a completely fair comment about climate change. The fact he doesn't believe it doesn't change his attitude towards making the planet a better place. He still has the morality and desire to change how things are and work towards a more sustainable future. He's right in saying why should it matter and I agree with it's what we should be doing anyway, regardless of the reasons why. It's the whole thing of assigning labels, I think. Everyone has to have a label now. Straight, gay, man, woman, believer, non-believer. Everyone wants to belong to something. Sadly, I've seen this divide more than anything else. Petty arguments over topics that don't really matter, in the big scheme of things. We should already be doing it without all of the debate and nonsense attached to it.
Had anyone noticed the future millionaire in this landscape? You see all these nerds, all these bored and uninterested kids, with absolutely no passion for entrepreneurship or anything related to business, then comes this guy. At 25:52 you can see a guy, and his AMAZING smile and impression on his face, watching his mentor. He is in the wrong environment. He will thrive through all those.
Yeap, I've noticed the same guy when I was watching and I knew which one you're talking about before I even looked back. That means we're naturally paying attention and we're analyzing without necessity for any extra motivation.
77Hollywood77 , I am damn sure that all of us have done one thing from the start of this video, trying to find one interested person in the room..😂😂😂😂 And then we found him. The second favorite is the girl sitting on jb's left hand side..😂😂
The kids in the audience are so typical of young people these days - really disinterested and lacking in enthusiasm. The dude's teaching them great things and it's lost on them.
Only a smith knows the true value of gold and his words are gold. But these people don't understand it because they never saw failure and how the real world works. They are kids or lambs i guess
You can tell that drug addiction is a major problem in society in the UK by the applause given as Jordan stated the length of his sobriety. Who'd think that these prats in the audience would even care to know or acknowledge such realities as most surely have other things on their minds like what kind of tea will be served afterwards and whether they will wear a tie or a silk dress to the mixer later that night. The little shits impressed me. Now only if Jordan added, "inherit all that you can in life from your parents and gain influence by association".
a good salesman acc to Jordan does not sell to someone who doesnt want a pen. A great salesman would say to that person - what do you write with today?
Listening does not require yelling, clapping or talking back. Come on, people are way too obsessed with the croud. I know your comment is 1 year old, but whatever. People will browse comments in the future, just like I did and read that appalling comment section.
