Amazed Paloma didn't go for this. Very passionate, very emotional, very different. The top notes were a bit feeble but could be trained. There was a bit of the great Freddie in this performance for me.
Oh dear. Oh very dear. I despair sometimes. This was EXACTLY what ALL the coaches claim they are looking for - something different. But I'm afraid it did go wrong for Jordan. She had a wonderful cry in her voice, and the mixed gender nature of her psychology came through in her performance, giving it an unusual and startlingly original twist. I might have advised her not to sit at the keyboard, and to use her body to get a little more articulation on the notes. Being tied to the one body position doesn't help the singer. But that's not why no-one turned. They didn't turn because despite what they say for some reason this season the coaches are fearing anything that's different. It's our loss as fans of the show, and Jordan's loss as a potential star. [UPDATE - due to another contestant pulling out of Paloma's team Jordan is back on the show and got through her battle.]
I whole heartily agree with you here, it was an original and spectacular performance, I just wish Tom and Jessie was back because neither of them would of missed having someone like that!
ryangadd130695 I agree. There are probably half a dozen singers who failed that we as fans would all agree on swapping out for people who made it through. But that';s the way it goes I suppose.
+periurban I've been very moved by Jordan too. There is actually a spoiler concerning her (yes, a spoiler still) that I saw on a Digital Spy forum (thread: The Voice - Pick your team game). Can't know if it's true but very interesting - I would cite it, I just don't know how to spoiler tag!
+Alex McNamee Exactly the spoiler I was talking about :) Can't wait to know! Thrilled for Jordan (if it's true!) but a bit worried too - if someone drops out from Team Ricky then WHO and what may the reason be ? I hope nothing bad like serious illness or accident...
Just to let everyone know - Tall Dark Friend (aka Jordan Gray) will perform at the Wayout club in London on the 27th feb! :) Support her if you loved this.
I never listen to the voice, My good lady has it on whilst I'm editing pictures in my study. This is the 1st time I have ever got up and walked through the lounge to hear an artist. Cant explain why, but I felt something when I watched this act. How on earth did she not get through. At 52 years old its the 1st time I ever searched the internet to see and hear something so good and unique. I really hope she does well and gets a 2nd chance.
This performance sadly proves that the show is 'fixed' to some point. They wanted public feedback! Which they got in spades! Boy George had tears in his eyes FFS!
sorry, but that was NOT very good. nothing against her, but it doesn't work. the song was utterly obliterated. It's a tender ballad with a lot of meaning between the lines and skipping lines is a sacrilege. Half the bridge is missing, the "Queen Mary" verse is missing, the "I...Just Don't Fit" verse is missing, the vocals are off-key. Now, she probably can sing on key. She looks very nervous here. I wonder if they edited off some verses, it wouldn't surprise me.
+Zoot Rage I believe they are limited to a certain time and have to sing abridged versions of the songs. There were a few that night that did the same.
It's surreal to me people get all bent out of shape when others notice he's a biological male. He chose to sing 'Just Like a Woman' not 'I am Woman' underscoring it. It's the supposed defenders of trans people who insist on calling them 'she' who don't seem to be able to handle the idea of a dude in a dress expressing their feminine side. 'No, we must pretend he's really a girl or it's unacceptable'. Personally I don't give a rat's ass either way as long as he's happy and the performance is good.
She's actually my teachers friend she came to my school she's transgender, her performing name is tall dark friend, she's so nice and she should of gotten through!
this was amazing I was crying it was so amazing what where there doing there turning for the most of the tarrible people (I think) and the good ones there like it's amazing then why don't you turn!?
+frankiewithie People should accept themselves as who they were born to be! like if they were born with a mutation and became so, it's fine! But i, in my point of view, don't prefer changing the gender😕
I found amusing how they only have taken her once they knew she was a transgender. And I'm also sure the space she filled up was created by something more than JJ Soulx "Personal Reasons"
I've met Jordan only once, but she made one hell of an impression. You knocked 'em dead, girl. Too bad they didn't see you for the amazing talent and amazing woman you are. They're missing out!! x
