Queen Elizabeth II passed away hours before Dr Jordan B Peterson would give a public lecture. At this event, he was asked, “how could the death of the Queen affect the boundaries between English communities around the world?” His answer was honest and thought-provoking. He explores the weight and grandeur of the monarchical system, the legacy of its longest-reigning Queen, and the great loss so many have to bear.

When she finished her question, he paused then repeated it. And I thought he was fishing for an answer. Instead, he took about three seconds to organize his thoughts into a lecture that made clear to me, why the monarchy exists at all, for the first time in my 52 years of life. All the while filling the English audience with both hope and pride. Jordan Peterson is one of the most intelligent and gifted speakers of our time.

@@Cyb0rgd3ck3r His ability to articulate his point and dense topics in general is what appeals to people. I don't agree with a lot of his views but I really enjoy hearing him speak. I am 4th generation American from England. Britain should be immensely proud of your place in history and vast contributions to science, representative government, literature, language, law, and human dignity. One of the things Ive noticed about Jordan Peterson that I really love is that whenever hes speaking, be it an interview, lecture, or even just a casual Q&A, hes not preaching or teaching as much as he is simply thinking outloud. He sorts through his accumulated knowledge purposefully, carefully examining each point through the application of truth, logic, and reason. Those thoughts then become the teachings. They become the sermon. As Jordan Peterson speaks, you can visably see the gears turning in his head. I believe that the recognition of this process, whether conscious or unconscious, is one of the many reasons why, when Jordan Peterson speaks, people listen.

This understanding of my country's influence and greatness has never been in question, having served in the Royal Marines for 3 decades under Queen Elizabeth II has on many occasions brought criticism by individuals that are so very ignorant to the principles of a collective national identity which this remarkable woman championed and which I swore to defend in her name. When asked to put my life on the line to defend the freedoms of Great Britain, it was easy and for 30 years it drove me and continues to this day. The idea of family unity and strength inspired me and changed something in my psyche, which manifested into fierce loyalty and how critical the need for individual sovereignty and strong believe in a very important constitution. And now I believe it is even more important to embrace this, the erosion has crept up and the insanity, contempt, victimhood and arrogance that has manifested in individuals is staggering.

Dr. Peterson has literally saved my son's life. After my son found him and started listening to his lectures and reading his books, he turned his life around in a matter of months. Before JP, my son was so far to the left. A vegan, a socialist mindset but described himself as an anarchist. He had no real direction, like so many other young men of his generation. He had no real occupation, just worked odd jobs and lived with his gf and 2 other couples. And he struggled with depression and anxiety. After he found JP, he moved back home, found a job he can grow with, and he finally had health insurance. He then immediately found a Dr, got on an antidepressant (before he was also extremely anti-any medication) and then found a therapist. Oh, and he's also no longer a vegan or a socialist. 😂 I should note that a vegan diet really does mess with a male's testosterone, among other things, and that's why he's no longer vegan. He just saw a men's health specialist yesterday to address this issue. So it's not that I have anything against a vegan diet, except for the side effects it can have on men. It's been about 9 months now and he's a brand new person. I will always feel so much respect and gratitude for Dr. Peterson. Before, I constantly worried about my son, and what he'd do once his dad and I were gone. My daughter was always the exact opposite, she graduated from college and had found her career path at the age of 22. So I never had to worry about her. But my son, I just can't express how much relief I feel. And it's all thanks to the good Dr. He really has his finger on the pulse of the young men in my son's generation. Society has all but thrown them away. And Dr. Peterson is breathing life into them again. That's something that just can't be measured, and will be a lasting legacy for Dr. P for generations to come. ❤️ Edit: Thanks so much for all the kind words. They are much appreciated! ❤️

Jordan, I heard in the street that one man said he felt that he and the people of his community, a minority, should be recognized as what they truly believe they are, and later, he said, they were "the selected" by God and should be called by everybody your majesty, as a pronoun, because they are the chosen. He said he would sue the government because they are also an important minority and had the right to select their own pronoun too. He said they have the power to do it. I do not know if he was joking or not, but then he added because he has to use the pronoun she to everybody who wants to be called she, he added his community also has the right to select his pronoun. He added that "she" was a pronoun used to describe a person that could carry a baby in her body, and he also wanted the same right for his people. Change an incorrect concept. Could that happen? Could communities, based on the right to have equal treatment, start selecting the pronouns they want to use because they believe they are that? Do you think a group could psychologically manipulate society by changing pronouns that way? I do not know, but I would prefer just eliminate the pronouns and maybe identify a person as a man or woman just in front of a medical doctor.

I was in the queue to watch this in Manchester when the news broke. Jordan's immediate, sensitive and calculated response to the Queen's passing was extremely touching. As a Brit who has just come out of University where we are taught more-or-less to view our nation's history with disdain, it's useful to be reminded to 'sort the wheat from the chaff' and have some appreciation (as well as simple recognition!) for the things we did right. What a day to see Dr. Peterson. Thank you kindly Sir; as usual, just what I needed to hear.
@85geoffm
@85geoffm Год назад
I didn't realize that was taught in University in England as it is here in the States. I'm sorry to hear that. While we do have to atone for our past (and current) misgivings, I don't see why that has to come to be in the form of hating your country. It's unnecessary and extremely divisive. The terrible things of our past should be acknowledged, but that doesn't mean our present must be derisive. The way that Dr. Peterson acknowledged slavery existed (and still exists) by saying England was the first country to say it's unacceptable is what needs to be taught in schools. Atrocities such as slavery shouldn't be taught only with ridicule and derision. These things should be taught with acknowledgement that they existed and taught with as much fervor that we've overcome them.

I think people who oppose the monarchy do so because in it's pure essence it monopolizes power at the potential detriment of anyone else. why did the American founding fathers fight against their motherland? because the government supported by the king stomped on common English rights of the American settlers and threatened to kill them if they continued. why was Richard II deposed in favor of Bolingbroke? Because he demanded absolute obedience and ruled by fear. why did the the barons pressed John I to sign the Magna Carta? because he had too much control over taxation and they wanted to check is power. I believe that the royal family, Elizabeth in particular, are dedicated to serving their nation. but the idea of monarchy, in the absolute sense, is too much a risk for tyranny.

Exactly. This is what the MSM doesn't do. I was talking to friends about it and I must've sounded like such an idiot when I said I didn't understand why people were calling her such an inspiration in their lives. I think I get it now, even if I still think it's somewhat farfetched, I can respect the job and the way it was executed over the past 70 years. Perhaps the deserved credit is exaggerated and I don't know if a monarchale system is better than a republic one. It surely doesn't work everywhere. But when people say "oh it only costs taxpayer money" I now feel inclined to disagree, because it strengthens patriotism and sense of fraternity which in turn promotes self-sustainability and confidence within a nation state. Even when the monarchy doesn't bring in as much money as it takes there are those secondary psychological or subconscious effects. Besides, a presidency would likely cost about just as much taxpayer money as a monarchy. I bet we would see less tribalism on twitter and discourse on the streets, arguments within social circles and a more forgiving social hierarchy. And I'm not referring to dictatorial monarchy, but monarchy like in the UK and other countries with democratically elected parliaments where the king or queen serves a more symbolic role. Humanity has been living with kings and queens for about as long as we are on this planet, so I'm not surprised it resonates with everyone on some level. I realize now as to why monarchies and this sense of nationalism that comes with that has been actively broken down in Europe over the past 30 years.

Sadly that bond has seemed to have fractured as the forces in power are so desperate to tear down, condemn, and rewrite our histories. Stand strong and firm my friend, there is something special about the West, and we must not let it get so corrupt to the point of no return. I'm praying for you guys right now. May your queen rest in peace in God's hands.

I have never heard of Dr Peterson but having listened to this talk I am amazed at his intelligence and understanding of history. He is the sort of intelligence that all educational establishments would be honored to have.. He is both introverted and extroverted in his intelligence and explanations. He talks without bias and all though he has his own opinion it is based on fact and history rather than being offended by any current trend of thinking.

Damn... As a Nigerian, an African, I fully appreciate every thing Mr. JP said. To extents that lots of foreign folk here might not even deem to comprehend. JP's words in this video is unparalleled in its wisdom and validity.

As a Nigerian myself, I disagree with his opinion about Britains place in our history. They choose which leader to work with and those to ignore in our nation.

@@Neddie2k Exactly. Recap, I said "wisdom and validity," not "right" and "wrong." I agree with you about what he said about Britain's place in human history. But I feel he was doing that to be sympathetic. Did you hear when he mentioned something about "guilt?" Check the social media of societies affected negatively by Britain's influence. JP was being sympathetic. I never said he was right, obviously he had somethings wrong, but if you listen in totality, you can hear him being polite, reading the room and offering hid condolences by not being judging and mourning with the Britons. That's a wise man there. That's why I said I "appreciate everything he said". Because he touched on sensitive topics without being judgemental, and duly polite. JP spoke well in all ramifications, and for those who can see and hear and comprehend, he was valid. And that goes to show he's wise. Is there any other way of being "right" in a balanced form of objectivity and subjectivity. Do you hear when he mentioned India and Slave trade? Knowing the horrors Britons committed there? Then he mentions guilt. Also mentions shame. Making the late Queen's people conscious of their sins, and to "atone" for them without compromising themselves. Telling them inadvertently to take responsibility. I mean... See wisdom bro. Na who sabi go sabi.

What's so wise about what he said? If he really knew history he wouldn't be speaking about the queen. He's a clinical psychologist. Which means he knows nothing about history. And only knows about the mind what his data shows.

@@Tony-yw2fn the thing is, if he's so wrong then he would've been called out for major bsing by now. There are plenty of people who listen to Jordan with a discerning ear and I've heard many criticisms but there is also a great volume of praise for his words even if it's simply for his eloquence, it's quite the challenge to not only make sense but to be captivating. All this 'worship' isn't for nothing in Jordan's case.
