Wilson, you dirty, dirty smear merchant.

Everything about this Journalist, his inquisitive tilt of the head, his hostile gaze, his smug, self-satisfied face, his accusations, made me a JP fan.

Everything that is wrong about journalism: Simon Wilson. Three years ago, I wrote to him (without getting an answer): Dear Mr. Wilson, among all controversial interviews with Mr. Peterson, yours is truly outstanding. First, because of your mellow, pleasant voice and your very fine taste for intellectual glasses. But mostly, because you control your animus very well, trying to give the impression of an engaged journalist, who is just asking some important questions. The big effort for control covers the glaring expression, that your politeness is the most useful cover for arrogance. And that arrogance can't hide you're just performing preconceptions. Peterson, the angry egotist. At the end of every topic, you keep the last word with ironical degradation. You just talk over your guest, if it gets too much for you, or provoke him with out-cranked taunt. (20:30) The book is all black and white, but you cannot name one example. Wasn't there enough time to write down at least one? Maybe there was, but your animus made you forget it. Your disgust of Peterson is lurking through every look and every word. You are no journalist. As a New Zealander, Simon owes me an apology for complete and utter embarrassment.

This interview demonstrates clearly the difference between someone who has spent their life developing hard won intelligence, and someone who has spent their life cultivating the shallow appearance of intelligence.

Such a sharp thinker. His ability to respond so quickly with detailed explanations to all those accusations and sleights of hand is incredible.

Imagine someone trying to tell you that you’re angry when you’re not angry.. that’s the kind of thing that might make you angry. Well done JP, keeping your composure and rooting your responses in FACT!

The smug dismissiveness of this interviewer is truly pathetic.

Why is it that everyone else can get to grips with Jordan Peterson's messages EXCEPT JOURNALISTS?

I love how the interviewer said "that's a jump from what I said" and then immediately jumps into another question. He must find it hard to be questioned, especially as a journalist.

This guy tried to trap him with his sneaky slimy tactics at every turn. Attack a guy for 30 minutes and proclaim at the end he seems angry. What a cowardly snake.

The interviewer is trying his best to antagonize Jordan and failing miserably... Jordan is so amazingly calm and authentic

I’ve never seen an interviewer get so thoroughly schooled by a guest. Talk about an intellectual dressing down. I felt sorry for that interviewer after a while. What an utter humiliation.

It's frustrating that Simon doesn't seem to pay attention to the answers given and is more focused on trying to catch the person off guard with the next question. However, Jordan being questioned handles every question calmly and articulately, which is an excellent display of fairness and honesty.

I became a fan of Jordan Peterson after watching him not only survive "ambush journalism", but watching him win these arguments. He accuses the left-leaning journalists of being lazy and uncreative. I read the "Gulag Archipelago" because Dr. Peterson has recommended it multiple times. What an eye opener.

Hes not even controversial, everybody normal likes him

I'm a 40 year old black man who lives in America and have been following JBP for the last year and read 12 Rules. Having said that, I have several friends who follow him as well, so this notion that all his followers are white men is just nonsense. I even post some of his videos on my FB from time to time and black people who don't know who JBP tend to agree with his message or the points in the videos I share. The only time someone says something negative on my posts is when it's someone who's "heard of" Jordan Peterson before.

I'm shocked by how smug, mean and incompetent the interviewer is.

This was such an impressive display of stoicism from Mr Peterson I’ve seen in an interview. Granted it’s some time ago and he has had many, many dialectical and personal challenges since then, but I salute Mr Peterson for his composure and professionalism in this interview. This level of control and level headedness is impressive.

The interviewer is unbearably irritating. He’s masking his anger because Peterson made him look foolish. He’s insecure and did a horrible job of trying to flip the table with the angry bs. It was impossible for me to not be irritated by him to the point of anger. Good for dr Peterson. I think anger because of the dishonesty of the interviewer in this situation in precisely what it should be. Imagine being that guy’s wife or child. God what a pretentious man

I've seen my fair share of Peterson interviews conducted by aggressive, uninterested activists, but this is a whole different level. There's something deeply rotten and despicable about this Wilson guy and the fact that he unsuccessfully tries to sugar coat it in the hallmarks of classic journalistic engagement just makes it all the more laughable and egregious.

I am stunned by the sophomoric mentality of this so-called journalist. Has the legacy media learned precisely nothing from the Cathy Newman incident? Never mind; these attempts to box Dr Peterson into a corner will continue to backfire, much to the embarrassment of those trying to curate such a disingenuous frame and ultimately winning Jordan further support from honest men and women. This type of conversation is useful to happen once in a while because you get to see an example of gaslightning attempt and false interviewing get destroyed by proper thinking and managing your emotions in the face of manipulation. Being well informed and educated are the primary tools into facing situations like this. Then you have to say what you think and know preserving your temper. Thank you JP.

This world really has gone bunkers. Here is someone that can be easily discerned as genuine and very clear in thought and speech. Able to say what many of us would like to say but don't know how to. Speaking candidly and without vilifying or insulting....sorting the sense out of nonsense etc and the man is literally being tried by all the agenda bearing groups and journalists. We need more champions like this guy. I'm a woman who is so very grateful to men like Jordan Peterson, and who thinks men like Simon Wilson ought to be ashamed.

Beautifully put and well said. I particularly love the point when Peterson explained that, he's not angry, instead he's in pain, it's sadness not anger. Men don't express sadness in the same way Women do. Peterson explains that he's in pain, that it makes him incredibly sad to see that just a tiny amount of encouragement has THAT much impact on Men in general, that it speaks to a disgusting problem in our society...because it does.

I miss mainstream interviews with Jordan Peterson. But I can also understand why he doesn't do them anymore.

This man is sooo articulate. He really understands the meaning of language and what comes out of one's mouth. Example: with respect to the Me Too Movement "Not 'the' movement... 'a' movement"

This vid should be retitled to "Controversial interviewer Simon Wilson sits down with visiting Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson" and subtitled "33 minutes of repetitive attacks by deliberate misreading and misrepresenting all available reference material". Hats off to Mr Peterson for handling it with this much patience and dignity.

This is an amazing interview. How could one so completely fail to understand (or pretend not to understand) someone's statements and writing and maintain such an accusatory and condescending attitude? The arrogance is incommensurate with the ignorance. I don't know anything about NZ journalism, but if Simon is a regular part of the Herald, I am also amazed they keep this video available. Well, clicks and all....

Cathy Newman's career might be dead, but her spirit seems to be living on in 99% of other journalists.

Simon Wilson is really dangerous with his questions with a lot of tricks and lies. He just met someone truthful and without tricks. Well reality wins.

I have not commented on a video in a while but this interviewer was an embarrassment. He was incredibly accusatory, condescending and clearly came in hostile. Disgusting.

A series of “gotcha” questions that all failed spectacularly. Simon Wilson interviews like a first year student in feminist studies. Embarrassing.

I wonder why the interview was cut off at the end, some interesting ideas were being discussed at that point.

JP talks about what some of us think and knows to be true but just not educated enough to put it in words. He's very intelligent and very factual which is hard to come across these days.

I am a 44 year old male, my wife is 40, and we are both eternally grateful for Jordan and his work. We both were raised in dysfunction, and I personally had the life skills of a rock. Jordan helped my wife and I to put our life in order. Our marriage is the best it's ever been, our communication is healthy and honest, I am a better father and we are pursuing our dream as entrepreneurs. Jordan helps people. He loves people. We are not just angry young white men, we were broken, confused, lost and overwhelmed. God bless this man.

Peterson is a perfect example of a man demonstrating the greatest level of patience when confronted with immeasurable levels of ignorance coupled with malevolent ulterior motives. I don't imagine I could ever sit with such calm demeanor and civility if faced with a similar situation. Definitely a person worth emulating.

Here we have another journalist that believes he is intelligent and decides to interview an expert in a specific field of study. We have another individual that has misinterpreted, misquoted, and has a fundamental misunderstanding about the subject matter in general and continually tries to put words in the interviewee's mouth to control the direction of the conversation. Dr. Peterson on the other hand is smart enough to not engage this type of behavior and has the self discipline to stay calm in the face of ignorance.

Can’t imagine why traditional journalism is circling the toilet bowl. I’m sure I’ll see this guy flipping burgers at Burger King in a few years.

The part where the interviewer tries to convince JBP that he's angry was particularly distasteful.

I am a New Zealand citizen, and I’ve never been more disappointed in a New Zealand journalist… What ever happened to impartial journalism?! Why not ask him questions about his philosophies, let him answer and then move on… Rather than challenge, attempt to manipulate and try and bait him into a combative situation. I'm a Kiwi and I was embarrassed watching this. Some, if not all of his questions were espousing claims that were completely untrue, placed entirely incorrect words in his mouth and tried way too hard to misrepresent him in a way that was just cringe. I cringed so hard that my face almost turned inside out.

Ugh! _"there's a subtext of...",_ _"It's a dog whistle to the..",_ _"You imply that...",_ _"I feel that...",_ _"You seem to be saying that...",_ _"Some people might think that..."._ Why bother addressing people's actual words when you can just insert your own imaginary words into their mouths?

This is not an interview. This is a blatant attack. The interviewer does not allow JP to finish his sentences or ideas. If this was done to someone else, people would be completely mad. What an elegant way to handle a very passive aggressive interview!

Sounds like the journalist didn't care to have a real discussion, not the other way around. Tired of another lame 'gotcha' attempt. And he watched many of Jordan Peterson's other interviews? Then why does this interview feel so repetitively stale in contriving conflict?

I'm so tired of the accusation that Jordan only attracts white men, I am a woman that loves his lectures, I'm sure many other women do as well.

I'm in constant awe at JP's ability to stay cool and give mindful answers in these types of inflammatory interviews
