I remember watching him as a kid with my father during World Cup 1994, he impressed us very much and made us love the Mexican team. Great memories of a great goal keeper.
Made yall love what exactly? They been the same mess without advancing any further stage in the worldcup. They are mediocres now and they were mediocres back then.
Best goalkeeper for Mexico. Didn't let other people say, " You're too short to be a good REAL goalkeeper!" He just kept moving and did his job well. Love to Mexico from Honduras! 🇲🇽🤝🇭🇳
And that’s so crazy cuz I’m the same height and when I tried out for my high schools soccer team they told me the same thing I’m to short to be a real goalkeeper, showed them that even tho I’m short I can make the same saves anyone else could but better cuz I was quicker, still got put in jv cuz the varsity goalkeeper was a 6”6 basketball keeper and he could “save more cuz he’s taller” even though he never played soccer before 😂
@Armandx Nope. Sorry. The sport that used this ball ⚽️ 👈🏽 is Soccer. The sport that uses this ball 👉🏽 🏈 is called Football. Not up for discussion. Sorry.
I remember when I was a kid I asked my dad to get me a Jorge Campos shirt and gloves. My brother and I would always fight over them. The guy is a machine!!! And I also love his confidence. Makes things look easy and without bragging about it.
First time I watched Jorge Campos was France 98 and what caught my eye apart from his acrobatics was his sense of fashion/style. Great Goalie, really miss this era of football
The legend of all legends Jorge Campos I wish he was still playing Te re quiero Jorge Campos uno de los mejores arqueros de la historia y es re chiquito pero gracias por todo lo que hiciste por el fútbol 😎😎
@@JamesAvila-xu7dsno one who does watch football doesn't know Jorge Campos.. Actually when it comes to Mexico in the last 30 years, you'd probably remember him along Blanco and Raphael Marquez ONLY..
I love how mad some of the strikers are when he stops their shots lol. This guy was my childhood idol and inspiration, and he was always a joy to watch, especially with the really bright colored uniform.
Ricordo un Messico Italia dei mondiali 94, fece parate allucinanti, io ero poco piu di un bambino e ricordo di averlo etichettato come il portiere più forte del mondo, poi però scoprì Peruzzi e Preud’Homme
@Kraze why would I be? Have you any idea how many GK there have been? Even if you completely remove pre-70’s GK (tech at that time were generally awful, outside of a few standouts), he doesn’t even make top 30 in South American GK. Out of 10, he’s a pretty solid 7. Certainly good but no where near top class. Hell, he’s not even top five in Mexico’s history
@@Alexniclo bullshit. Even if that were true, Vitor Bahia was once ranked #2 by the IFFHS. He’s hardly amongst the best in the world lol. Campos is overrated and your hurt feelings will not change that. Regards bandejo 😘😘😘😘
@@benkraze3103 Yes . That is more accurate in mentioning the two positions much few and numbered players may have success and been remembered equally in both
I was lucky enough to watch him in his prime. Jorge's performance was very cinematic. The shots that other goalkeepers would deflect standing, he had do some long dives to catch 'em and that was so entertaining to watch 😄
Watching Jorge Campos in goal, Mugsy Bogues on the basketball court, George Foreman still winning in the boxing ring, Ken Griffey Jr with that natural swing; such a fun and unique time in sports. All about talent shining through..
Brilliant positioning and reflexes, decision making was often brave and effective - then there was the attacking flair. 👏 Had nerves of steel too, the way he would face a 1 on 1 and force the attacker to make a mistake. Brilliant goalkeeper, and an amazing character, from an era where footballers still had character. 🇲🇽 👏
Jorge Campos and Hugo Sánchez used to be my idols back in my childhood. Fun fact: The goalkeeper that appears in international superstar soccer cover apparently is inspired on Campos.
aside from his undeniable skill (even as an old man playing with messi+friends) - his flamboyant choice of colours, (a glorious fuck you to the morons at FIFA) combined with his disregard for protocol and desire to go forward and score (which he did in many occasions) mark him as one of the most unique goalkeepers to ever play the game. Perhaps if the dice of fate had seen him born in a different continent we'd be singing a different tune of praise.
Si Jorge Campos jugara actualmente, porteros como Keylor Navas, David Ospina y Claudio Bravo no tendrían nada que hacer al lado de él. Mucha calidad en comparación al resto de esos porteros.
What is it with these crazy keepers from that side of the world? Campos, Chilavert, Higuita - they all had personality. They didn’t follow the rules which made them super entertaining. Miss that generation
