Thanks for the Jorn. Knew you guys wouldn't be disappointed - it just simply delivers. Ronnie would give it the "horns" if he were alive to hear it. Hopefully down the road we can do #Masterplan Into The Light to put his other band in the spotlight.

Great suggestion! I have been a big fan of Jørn, from the moment I heard Beyond Twilight's (danish prog-power band, whose albums are well worthy of increased listenership!) album 'The Devil's Hall of Fame', which Jørn does the vocals on. He has such great range and just a extraordinary set of pipes. Jørn's 'Dio' album release was accused of "cashing in" on Ronnie's death, as it was released a few months after his passing, but had actually been in the works for a year before Ronnie's untimely death. One can make of that what they will, but I prefer to think of it as merely paying tribute to the man himself, with an unlucky (or appropriate, if you're so inclined) release timing. I highly doubt there was a lot of money to be made from the album, anyway, what with Jørn being not-so-well-known on a world-wide level, and the scope of the album being cover songs. All in all, I think Jørn lies somewhere between Coverdale and Ronnie in terms of tone, range and style, and I consider it a given that he would record a tribute album, directed at someone who has clearly been a great influence on his life and vocal career. And I find the album very listenable. His work with Ark, specifically the album 'Burn The Sun', is also noteworthy. And, of course, I have to mention what is probably my favourite cover of Deep Purple's 'Perfect Strangers', as well.

So glad you had the pleasure of hearing the legendary Jorn Lande. He has done soooooo much and has one of the most sought after voices in this musical genre. He could sing the alphabet and recite every name in the phone book and I would listen.. I have a special request if you should oblige me. ,,,I have a long story behind it but I'll make it short....He sang a song called "Wounds' by one of his bands called "Masterplan. It completely brought me out of a depression and made me wanna live again. A lyric vid would be preferred so you could understand why it meant so much to me (and for others I'm sure). Thank you, Love you guys. Mwah!

Saw JORN headline Progpower USA in Atlanta in 2007......no one besides us knew who the hell he was , as he was a last minute sub for NEVERMORE who cancelled.......he blew the crowd away, their is a DVD of it......i also met and drank beer with him for over an hour outside a hotel the day before his show.....super cool dude.

Thank you for sharing your stories and musical tastes. I shared with you earlier about my time with Dimebag. I am from Dayton Ohio and I have been involved in our scene here for many years. My dear friend Tim Ripper Owens formally of Judas Priest and Iced Earth Beyond Fear and Dios Deciples was very close with Ronnie. In a few weeks he begins a Dio Hologram Tour in the USA. God bless your son in Heaven above with Ronnie and Dime and many others.

#pagansmind - Through Osiris' Eyes - I'm from SA, TX. I think this song is a great intro into Pagan's Mind whom I find to be the closest thing to DT as far as Prog metal greatness that there is. Elite songwriting, crazy chops, awesome production.

It's hard to believe it's been that long, Dio the name his band went by was another band that I've seen a lot to say the least,I lived in Germany for 30 years and these bands toured every year and I would go see them. And every year I would go to see Ronnie, and one year at a Monsters of Rock they had Ronnie and Ozzy at the same concert, and needless to say they did not get along and I mean not even close, they had a little skirmish backstage about who was going to go on first between the two of them and it turned out to be Ronnie he didn't lose the fight he was just the bigger man, and no surprise because he was one of the good guys and he really was and always put on a great show. One of my favorite concerts was Dio, and the opening band was Queensryche to this day I remember that concert. I mean I was at over 80 concerts in the time I lived over their and some of them you don't forget. Oh and before I forget the reason I know about the tiff between him and Ozzy was from him, when he came out on stage he told us all about it.

Yeah, Kel & Rich, Jorn Lande is phenomenal. He's huge in Europe and Scandinavia. He should be huge here too. Like Russell Allen, Jorn has that perfect rasp/grit to match the guitars. It's the perfect marriage of harmony and distortion.

Jorn was the singer on stage with Blakck Sabbath for the DIO Tribute Concert.....he also recorded songs with Tony Iommi in 2004 but it was scrapped when Glenn Huges became available.

You asked how long he has been active. Well pro carrier was 1993, but he had a few early projects in the 80's. Jørn Lande (born May 31, 1968), is a Norwegian hard rock and heavy metal singer and songwriter. He is known for his work with the bands Ark, Beyond Twilight, Millenium, Vagabond, The Snakes, and most notably with power metal band Masterplan. Currently, he is focusing his activities on his solo project Jorn. In 2014, Jørn was hired by Riot Games to be the voice of the character Karthus, of the fictional heavy metal band Pentakill, (League of Legends) on their debut album Smite and Ignite, recording vocals for the songs "Lightbringer" and "Thornmail".[1] He was also hired to sing most of the songs (5 tracks) for their 2017 album Grasp of the Undying. Also he is 1 of 3 that forms the project Allen & Lande, here he teams up with Russel Allen. Last A&L record was written by Timo Tolkki. The previous A&L records was written by Magnus Karlsson. JORN released an album a few years ago where he used the band Primal Fear. He has as also done a project with Trond Holter called Dracula. Jorn is also a major guest artist in the group Avantasia with Mathias Sammet.

Brilliant, Jorn has 1 of the most seasoned voices in metal. Hard to believe its 9 yrs already. RJD is still missed but his influence still reverbrates through the metal world today. We rock 🤘🤘 Also wee Ronnies grandma came up with the horns as a way to ward off evil spirits 🤘🤘 #Nevermore - The Heart Collector Scotland. I would like this song because in my personal opinion Warrell Dane was 1 of the most underated and overlooked vocalists in metal with very distinctive vocal style with Nevermore and Sanctuary. Another brilliant and talented musician/singer who died in dec 2017. This song showcases his brilliant vocal talent thanks 🤘🤘

My gosh, this brings back memories. I was a die-hard Deep Purple fan, saw them in concert in their Mark II lineup, and was heartbroken when Blackmore left. But then he popped up with his own band, Rainbow, featuring the relatively unknown Ronnie James Dio, who had been opening for Purple with his own band. Until then, heavy metal was not really a "thing". Purple and Sabbath and Priest were still regarded as oddities, especially by the mainstream press (even Rolling Stone ignored or dissed them for decades). Rainbow was a sign that metal was here to stay and already evolving new sub-genres. Blackmore had always wanted to explore Medieval mysticism, and in Dio he found the perfect partner. I bought Rainbow the day it was released. The first song on it remains one of the great anthems of power metal. I know you already did Stargazer, which was from their second album. You want to see Jorn Lande at his best? Check out a band called Ark he was in. Prog metal super group. Only had 2 album but their second titled Burn The Sun is absolute perfection. Any song on that record will blow you away.

HI Kel N Rich another fantastic band I discovered Jorn about 2 years ago and they're Awesome!!! Some of their covers are just great!!!!. I don't know if you've heard of an British Female artist called Kate Bush if you haven't then look her up she did a song called running up that hill.
