The garlic in the jar freaked me out, so I had to try it. Holy cow! It actually worked! It took about a minute, but it really worked. I will never peel garlic again! Thanks Ellen and Jose!
WOW This guy is AWESOME!!! I wish he would make me such great food. I LOVE vegetables, and and I love people with such passion for their work... THIS is the right way to eat... to appreciate your food and be grateful. Love it!!!
José, eres un crack. Me alegro de que te haya ido taaaaaan bien por allí. La sección muy dinámica y los platos exquisitos. Un saludo desde tu tierra!! ;)
O my gosh, im starving now. All he did was mix some foods up like i do when almost time for me to go grocery shopping again, but his actually looks good. (Who knew smoking almonds could changed their life) lol.
I have never heard of you Señor Andrés but I am in love with your food! You have such wonderful energy. Felicidades on your restaurant, I wish you great success!
This is extremely strange, most people become vegetarians because they don't want to see the suffering of sentient organisms. But José Andrés anthropomorphises vegetables, gives them personalities and feelings so that they are more appealing to eat. I don't know, this is some kind of irony.
I'm not going to argue about that on Ellen. But what I'm saying is like if you don't like to eat spicy foods, you wouldn't eat some kind of sweet tasting food and pretend that it is spicy. Or that you hate the colour red but pretend you are looking at the colour red when you are looking at the ocean. This is a really strange behaviour, giving food personalities and feelings, making them sexy enough to eat.
I think he is transferring from his first language, Spanish, into his L2, English. In Spanish, even objects are given a gender. I can use the pronoun she or he to refer to a computer because it could be called "la computadora" (female) or "el computador" (male). And he also does it to sound funny.
Well, I anthropomorphized my computer, my potted plants, fantasized some characters over them...still, with no problem to tell the differences between a fantasy and a real sentient being who is screaming for suffering.
BTW... The trick with shaking the garlic in the jar actually does work very well, BUT, you have to use a glass jar. Plastic jars aren't hard enough to shake the husk off the cloves.
He closed Café Atlántico but Just recently opened America Eats. He also has bar mini which is connected to minibar where they come up with drink concoctions, Pepe which is a silver food truck in DC and there is a Jaleo in Crystal City.
He already has great restaurants in DC so I'm excited for this one! Check out Oyamel and Zatinya if you love Mexican of Mediterranean food; they're both divine.
He has a mexican restaurant despite being spanish? That sounds... weird to me. I'm from Spain and mexican food is almost non existent here, at least in the north
