He ( Canseco ) went against public opinion and told the story of PED use in Baseball. Somebody had to blow the cover off the story. They all tried to make him look bad or like a liar. But his book seemed true . And the ones that tried to make him look bad, are the ones that look bad or like liars now.
@Jaqen H'ghar Im asking you specifically who trump is in the analogy? Is trump, jose conseco being blackballed for telling the truth? and if so, what truth is that? im genuinely curious yet, youre being intentionally vague for no reason.
I respect him for being able to sit there calmly and listen to somebody list off all your biggest failures in life. I wonder how many of us would fare under similar circumstances.
Regardless of what anyone says , Canseco was probably ond of the greatest hitters of his time. He could could make a ful revolution with that bat from start to stop faster than most Major Leaguers Ive ever seen. Not only speed fast but powerful. I waych a game when the A's were visiting Boston one time . Canseco comes up , and hit a homer. Fairly routine, i thought until they showed the slo-mo replay. The ball hit the bat about 2 or 3 inches' from Canseco's hands , the spot with the least amount of power for the batter. Despite it coming that close to his hand Canseco drove that son of a bitch.completely over the green monster. Say what you want , but that shut that red sox crowd up fir a bout 6 innings.
He didnt do it to 'clean up the game' . He did it because he needed the $ . and wrote a sensationalist 'Tell All ' book. Im sure thats why he wrote the book, for the morality of it .
honest desnt mean to snitch, honest would have been to talk about yourself and say the truth but doesnt talk about any other players at least dont give names. thats a snitch and is way far from honesty
When I was a kid I waited for Jose to come out of the hotel n sign my baseball, when he came out he signed me an everyone who was there, I was 13 an will never forget the feelin that day, standing next to my baseball hero
@@shadeshiest22 He charges $40 at shows lol. I met him earlier this year at a show. He signed a free inscription for me, posed with me and shook my hand.
boxing97 Rather leave that trash with the NFL players. Baseball players just take steroids because they want to be better at the sport they love. NFL players bring drama with them
@@tony_anello " Baseball players just take steroids because they want to be better at the sport they love. NFL players bring drama with them". You are an idiot.
he got mad becoz he was villanized and blacklisted for using steroids while mcguire, sosa, bonds, and Arod were being praised as baseball legends and heroes. "why am i being vilified when dozens of players are using roids? and they are being cheered." he told the world which players he knew were taking roids. i can almost see his point
and mcguire, clemens, sosa, and palmeiro, all lying before congress. all idiotically thinking because they were "superstars" they wouldn't get caught or have to face any consequences. it's what took down pete rose, all the bravado and non-stop lying, if they would have come out with the truth in the beginning they wouldn't be so hated.
He's the one who tainted the fuckin game in the first place . Then gets people hooked. Then snitches on the same people that he turned em onto. And he's your hero ? Jesus Christ kid , u need to seriously take a look at who u idolize
bananastan YT People pin it on Bonds because he broke the record, but yes Canseco was, like the interviewer said, “a living breathing waking steroid experiment.”
@@daveyboy_ I don't idolize any man but Jesus Christ and I'm not a kid I'm 61 and know alot about baseball .he was being honest and couldn't stand by and listen to all the stars say they never did steriods
I just remember McGuire saying "I don't want to talk about the past just the future". And the other idiots pointing at the panel saying, make no mistake I've never used blah blah blah. And then he tests positive. This is what gives Jose credibility.
He may not have known, managers don't know a lot. He didn't know that Tyler Hancock was running a drug ring in the Cardinals organization before he died
Dan Peterson believs it or not now its adderal. Ive been on it for years because i cant concentrate but it ABSOLUTLEY LETS YOU CONCENTRATE BETTER MAKES YOUR REFLEXES FASTER AND HAVE NOOOOO FATIGUE.
Yeah he alone did more to clean it up. Bud Selig didn t, let the league profit . The owners too. And many are in the hall of fame and made humongous profits with new stadiums
His motive was revenge against MLB because no one would hire him , the other users for not standing up for him when he was black balled from the game and a chance to cash in on his story.
Say what you will but I Respect the heck out of Jose Canseco and I wish him nothing but success, he's a legend that deserves so much more than he's gotten.
Just don’t lie about it when someone finds out, and you won’t loose too much respect. Jose came out and said he did it, that’s honesty. Lying about it I front of congress and millions of people, to come out latter and admit is some pussy shit.
@@yoo909 his confessions were some of the worst ever done. Respect lost from me. He embarrassed himself with the way he eventually came out. Like i said..we wanted mountains hitting skyscraper home runs...just be honest about it.
Just an observation. Willie Mays, one of baseball's greatest players of all time, hit 59 home runs from age 38 - 40. Craig Biggio hit 71 home runs at same age in his career (his most prolific 3 year home run total!).
The greatest era of basbeball, you gave me good childhood yrs, thank you jose, mark, sammy, ralph, roger, barry, and many more. We will never forget you! You deserve your own section in the Hall! Thank you from a very humble baseball fan!
I LOVED steroid enhanced baseball! Mainly cause in 1997 nobody I knew wanted to go to watch or talk about baseball... In the summer of 98 you couldn't go 2 hours without having an enthusiastic conversation about Mac and Sammy. Most of my friends that found baseball because of the outrageous distortions from the baseball norms are raising baseball fans of their own now. So yeah it stains the history of the game but from my upper deck seat of the steroid era it was worth it.
Absolutely agree. I don't think kids should be doing it but it 100% made baseball better and while yes it gives you an edge a large majority of players were doing it and the ones that weren't that were still good did it on their own against people that who were taking. As far as Roid Rage goes it is blown completely out of proportion. I personally have a really bad temper especially when I drink. How many fights and stupid decisions have people made while drinking? Because I can promise you that it's far more than steroids. Steroids can add increased agitation but it's not this evil massive rage that people make it out to be. I know people that take massive amounts of steroids and are the most calm nicest people ever and I know people that take steroids that are extremely aggressive and angry but if you take away the steroids those people are still just as aggressive and angry. It may do something but not anywhere near the level of alcohol and other things that are legal. If an adult wants to put something in their body let them. I understand why steroids are not in baseball but I'll tell you what I miss when they were
Jose Canseco hit 462 career home runs. For some reason, numerous people are fascinated with milestones like 500 home runs. With 462 home runs, Canseco was most likely to be left out of the Hall of Fame... If Canseco hit 500 home runs, his Hall of Fame case would be stronger and therefore, he would most likely never be a whistle blower about steroids. If Jose Canseco did hit 500 home runs, we might be seeing a different brand of baseball.
90s Sports Nostalgia a better case of the lunacy is Fred McGriff. 493 home runs. Clean. Won’t make the Hall. I mean, if he had hung on to hit 7 home runs past his prime, he would’ve been more deserving? It’s stupid.
I think it’s totally insane how much grief roger maris got for breaking Ruth’s record then McGwire cheated to break it and he’s partially credited with saving baseball...strange fuckin game
I respect him so much. Thank you Jose for exposing all the cheaters who lied about using Peds because players like Barry Bonds should never be allowed into the Baseball Hall of fame
He's being very sincere and honest as he decided to come clean. This video should have zero dislikes. The ones who dislike it probably juice themselves.
I've seen Jose in a subsequent documentary that shows how he suffered from SEVERE depression and other health problems. He said that he regretted steroids 100%. It's all very sad.
Would the average fan want to see a player hit a 500 ft home run or a home run that barely gets over the fence? All of baseball knew players were using juice but it was bringing in an immense amount of money. The biggest hypocrite is the commissioner because he obviously knew but owners, commissioner, etc was making money. Once it was revealed they acted like they had no idea.
true but also remember that MLB went on strike in the mid 90's. They were desperate to bring fans back so were in no hurry to stop the roid use until they were forced to when McGwire got caught by a reporter with a bottle seen in his locker and the rumors started to fly. But it still took another 7 years when Jose's book was published and congress to call them out before they finally caved.
@@johnmongani5223 but it did way more damage long term because many of those kids who watched baseball in the steroid era no longer watched it after 2006-07 even if they still watch other sports, baseball’s median age of viewer goes up by a year every year, that means they literally aren’t winning any new fans at all
Steroids or no steroids, it STILL takes plenty of skill to thrive in the big leagues. All the steroids in the world wouldn't help the average joe play the way those dudes play! Jose Canseco and all the other well known steroid users were solid ballplayers regardless to what they put or didn't put into their bodies.
Steorids improve your vision, power and speed though right? That would be a huge improvement to the average Joe and them regardless of how talented they were before that. It is like what people say with Bonds he was really good before them and hall of fame after them.
@@melbias5046 How many home runs did Sammy Sosa hit before juicing? Or Barry Bonds? If it doesn't make a difference, why do it? Bonds went on the juice because he knew INFERIOR players were outshining him because they were juicing and he wasn't.
rwalfrey of course, that's because most people assume that steroids just make you huge. But there are many many many different types of steroids. There are some that make you bigger and Bloated there are some that make you bigger while you stay leaner there are some that lean you out and make you cut up there are a slew of steroids out there and most people just assume that you have to be jacked to be on them. I took steroids for the first time when I was 20 years old I was 160 lb and I got to 175. I wasn't big at all it just helped me get bigger faster
Exceptional Pleb LeBron and Wade. Google it. They definitely have. And I wouldn’t be surprised if the NBA knew and started testing the day after LeBron retires.
Griffey often gets over looked in that era and his numbers were legit. He hist had injuries and slowly declined...like a normal player that doesn’t juice. Meanwhile Bonds was getting better in his mid-30s.
Anybody who is at least 35 years old and you lived on the West Coast during late 1980s and early 1990s, even if you wernt a baseball fan you knew who Jose Conseco and Rickey Henderson was and the A's were fuckin loaded with talent. And in SF all those fans loved Will Clark.
MARCVS LICINIVS CRASSVS absolutely. Strengths does help a little bit with hitting but you have to be a very good player before taking them either way. Now if you are already a player with great bat speed great hand-eye coordination and you're a great hitter and you had steroids than that strength can add some home runs. If you get 5 or 600 at-bats a year and you have 15 balls out of those at-bats that should have been up against the fence in the warning track that now go 20 or 30 feet farther because of your extra strength then that's where it can help a little bit. It can also help with your stamina and help repair injured muscles. In the long run it can break down your muscles if you don't take care of yourself but while you're taking them they can also be very beneficial to Healing.
That's the argument every Bonds fan makes. It's really weak and frankly, untrue You can't teach bat speed or hand eye coordination. No, but you exercise more than a non cheating piece of shit until the three pound bat feels like a toothpick. So actually you can teach bat speed, just make the bat feel lighter.
I like what he said in his recent interview with DJ Vlad. He said "if I was lying then all the guys mentioned could've filed slander and defamation suits against me but none of them did so what does that tell you?"
I read the book recently & it's very good. They say "Anything superhuman is created in a lab" well, the labs are usually at home with the steroids, Jose was just honest. When you look today at this thing they call "The Fitness Industry" I call it the chemical industry. The amount of kids 17 & 18 years old in gyms that look like mini versions of Arnold is just ridiculous, yet people still deny it's steroids. Jose did this to enhance his career performance which made more sense, these kids are doing it just for girls & likes.
Back then if you didn't juice, you wasn't going to win the game against guys using steroids,so if you didn't do steroids you wasn't going to win... He got tired of seeing others do better with enhancement drugs and winning games ,he didn't want to be left behind or traded so he juiced
I bought this book the day it came out and believed every word. Records that had stood for 50 years suddenly started falling and players started looking like bodybuilders. Then you had 2nd basemen hitting 50 homers. It was pretty obvious if you just looked at the players.
I honestly don't care about what he did as far as juicing up. I just freaking loved that A's team. Never missed a game. I was obsessed by that particular team. MM was my favorite though.
"he charged his fans $2500 to spend time with him at his house while he was under house arrest" HAhahahahaha...That's beautiful. Can you imagine? "hey...let's go hang hang out with Jose for the day at his house while he's on a tether...we'll have a few laughs, maybe shoot up some roids...it's only 2500 bucks....come on lets go" friggin' priceless.
seeing this and playing Senior Softball and seeing Jose out there a few times, he's always been a nice guy, and I should have told him that now I absolutely KNOW he has gotten blackballed / disliked by the MLB guys and gotten a bad rap.. he told the TRUTH... nobody's perfect but he was honest.... his brother is a damn good player too....
MLB had dry years, THEY knew it, then investigated what could pump up the game, and realized they had something with certain players, who were using steroids. Then THEY knew and allowed certain "productive" players to juice themselves in order to produce a more exciting game. The commish knew, the managers knew and many of the players knew. But it was exciting. And once they cleaned up the game recently, now we have rules changes to speed up the games and make it fresh again. I find it hard to watch the game....still takes too long for one nine inning game, and it's just plain and simple, a lot of dinking around.
Jose Canseco turned out to be completely right and his haters turned out to be liars. I have regained my respect for him. During my high school years, I was a hardcore powerlifter and I used steroids all throughout my senior year. I gained 50 pounds of muscle that year and my lifting numbers went from good to incredible. I can tell you from personal experience they work and can turn a good athlete into a super athlete if you are willing to put in the work.
his book is good. i read it and its interesting cuz its not just baseball but basically his life in general. i havent read his 2nd book though. i forgot what it was called but he does have a 2nd one too
Mickey said, hell, if I knew that they were going to make such a big deal about hitting 40 homers and 40 stolen bases in a season ?? I would have done it......
He's telling the truth. Who's gonna challenge him to a fight. Seen him once in 2008 waaaaay after baseball and he was still big, plus he's tall az hell
One thing for sure, Jose was not running from anyone and was telling his truth! I never heard of any of the players he told on running up on him to physically confront him😂😂😂
Bud Selig is to blame for the steroid use in baseball. After the strike in 1994 baseball began to lose money, and desperate to get it back, Selig knowingly, allowed the use of steroids, then tried to clean it up. Selig is the dirt bag.
I believe bud selig was a big proponent to players taking roids. After the strike in 1994 the game was flat and nobody gave a shut about MLB anymore. Selig needed something to bring the fans back, and that's when McGuire and Sosa took off in 1998
Wow. This reminds me of Lance Armstrong. Apparently it's very very very hard to be a top sports professional without drugs? Tiger, same thing. It's a tough world.
jakethemuss3 if you still 40 bases at this level of baseball you have to have wheels. He was probably 4.5 fast or close to for 1-2 years and the bulking up slowed him down.
@@LuckyC555 no you dont you just have to have good timing stealing bases is all about timing I played I know. If he ran a 4.3 he would of had some in the park Homer's. Dude was slow hes trying to make himself look like super man dude was a junkie
I don't think that Jose Consaco should not have named other players who use steroids according to him. I don't think that was right. He should have only focused on himself not involve others. I believe that he is being honest regarding this. Thank you for reading.
I am going to say the same thing others have said on here. I remember when this interview came out, and SO MANY PEOPLE said he was a liar!!! Then it turned out, he was telling the TRUTH!!! Crazy!!!
The best thing is Gary Sheffield admitted that Bonds sent him a package of the cream and the clear the day it became known, on a live interview on espn
