Good point. Many players gave Canseco flack for speaking truth about the Steroid Era, but, much of what he said was proven truthful.

Yea when he took the fly ball off his head into the stands resulting in a home run was real lively!

Jose Canseco is, at minimum, better than every single person that lied about using steroids.

Jose was a wonderful ball player, steroids or not. He was a must-see player back in the 80s and early 90s. He was one of my favorites as a kid.

15 years later...Howard was right. We are still debating what to do with steroid users and whether or not to put them in the hall of fame.

He used to live across the street from friends of mine , I even cleaned the carpets in his house . His wife at the time was very nice . This was in Colleyville, Texas. I did notice some holes in the walls 🤔🙄 All in all he is good guy..

Home runs are fine and part of the game, but, I'm a baseball purist who misses the finer aspects of the game--like what used to be called small ball.

They did. It's called the Baseball Hall of Fame. The game evolved. He evolved with it. The "fans" didn't. Now, all those fans are taking TRT!

This is so stupid. He is a professional athlete. He is paid to perform at the highest level possible. Steroids do not increase skill. Strength? Stamina? Speed? Yes. Skill? No. Take an average athlete on steroids v. a professional athlete who isn't (assuming you can find one). Who wins? The professional. Jose Canseco's records count. He was on steroids competing against other players on steroids who are equally skilled. The only reason there is any debate is because "fans" can't handle the reality of professional sports? Comparing Canseco and Ruth? Would you compare Ruth to a caveman? Same comparison. They are both human. And, that's about it. The diets, training, specialization, etc. of the players today are so far removed from whatever previous era one wants to fondly recall, it might as well be apples and oranges. Leave them alone and let them do their job. Ironically, all the whiners about his performance on the field, are probably taking TRT so they can have enough energy to play with their kids after working an 8 hour shift.

You don't compare different eras, period. It's always different. Hank Aaron born today would be 10x better player or may never make it to the league.

The league's absolutely kills me putting Asterix by these guys names like Mark, And Samy, even in other sports like Bill Romanowski and many more......everybody was taking some type of Performance Enhancements in both Football and Baseball seriously that's makes for a even playing field if you ask me.....like like is it really cheating when almost everybody's doing it?

He may have had an ego; made poor choices in his personal life. But it's his personal life. But as far as baseball, his intentions were to protect future generations from unhealthy competition. And that's important. Also, PEDs dont gift one with hand eye

Nope. Kirby Puckett hit 31 points higher, hit more homers, scored more, out slugged and drove in more RBIs than Greenwell did. Kirby also won a gold glove and lead the league in total bases and hits that year too.
