Wow, pretty much all those finishes sound really worth trying! In my complete ignorance I've never heard of it. Love the idea of a heavy cognac influence! Great to see that the proper amount of due diligence was done :) I think it's always difficult when making recommendations, but I think most people understand the subjectivity/expectations at various price points. You've made great references to the other offerings in the range...and to say it stands up against other 100 dollar purchases is interesting! It's why we watch :) it's an interesting and honest insight! Happy drinking!
I had a bottle of Club Murray Hill, which I loved. The little that was left became one of the foundations of my infinity bottle (in one of my favorite bottles, Wild Turkey Decades). I have a bottle of Joseph Magnus Triple Cask in my cabinet, which I also thoroughly enjoy.
It truly is a delicious pour. Really like it. It is easily available around me unfortunately Murray Hill and Cigar Blend are not sold in my state. Love the channel
I just received this as a gift. I really enjoy it. I'm usually not good at picking out nosing or tasting notes, but I did get a lot of peanut butter and floral notes on the nose. Cheers!

Joseph Magnus’ giving away whisky to hook consumers reminds me of Paddy Flaherty in Ireland. I love all three Jo Magnus bottlings and they’ll always be on my shelf. I can still find this one for $90 in my neighborhood but I’ve seen it for $110 and up elsewhere.
Great video Bill. I saw this one for $100 (obviously) and passed. But I think I'll go back and get it at some point. I'm super curious but the price tag is pretty high. It would be the highest I've paid for a bourbon. But damn it, I'm worth it. ha ha Cheers Bill.

Try this at the bar and loved it. Bought two bottles and the one I have opened is not even close to the one at the bar. I’m hoping the second one is closer to what I had. The one I have opened is really light in color. The other one is really dark.

I just bought a 2nd bottle of this JM! I really like it but only spent $86 here in Ohio. Can't find the others. I'm really interested in the Cigar version.
Cracking open a bottle tonight, i have been staring it at a while but the price tag always made me hesitate. But your reveiw tipped me in the go for it range. And if I don't like it.....then its all your fault 🤣🤣
I'm in kind of a weird situation. I drink lots of different whiskies due to the channel, so i rarely just pour a drink. If I was going to go pick something right now, it would probably be a Speyside Scotch
A good friend generously gave me a half full bottle. It is is very good and unique, but not worth $100. There is really no grounds for it. We need to ask ourselves why is it more expensive than all the great whiskies out there for $60 - $70 like Maker's Private Reserve, Four Roses Private Selection, RR Single Barrel, etc? It is not. Hell, the company doesn't even make their own juice! They simply priced it high for prestige. As the British say "They are having a laugh".
Tried it did it And it’s nice now it’s all subjective but my bottle was not from the same barrel paid $85 was worth maybe $65 and bought 3 . Not sorry but it is no $100 bucks
Gene, Agreed on shipping costs, but look at bundling with 1 or 2 other bottles I want since the shipping cost then only goes up a couple bucks for each additional bottle. Can end up with shipping at about $8 to 12 per bottle. CHEERS!!
Get over the fact that it is sourced from MGP. That is just marketing talking. If you say, "I want a distillery with a history and heritage" then there are a lot of whiskies out there ready to fool you. MGP makes half of the whiskies on the shelf. MGP does not have some romantic whiskey story, but it has been producing whiskey since 1847. Most non-distiller producer buy whiskey FROM THEM... and you probably love those whiskies and never knew they were MGP products. Get over your need for a "heritage" story and taste great whiskey. I have more expensive bottles and I would pay $100 for this all day long. Also, Nancy Fraley was instrumental in developing this whiskey. If you know who she is, that says a lot about the flavor profile of this spirit. Most whiskies are not worth $50, even though we pay $60 or $80 a bottle. This one at $100 is a steal. When I bought it I was worried that i might "waste my money" or "fall in love" and have to buy more of this wonderful expensive whiskey. Obviously, I feel in love.
