Colonialism didn't cause conflict between Hutu and Tutsi. As any society Rwanda was composed by a ruling class (Tutsi elites) who viewed themselves superior to everyone, this was before colonialism. They maintained and expanded their power by violence and canning. What colonialists (Belgians ) did was to play both sides; elites Tutsis when they had power and elites Hutus when they took power from Tutsis. Since 1959 when Hutus took power, their regimes practiced vengeance governing by which they refused to share power with Tutsis. Most elites Tutsis didn't accept to be ruled by Hutus whom they viewed as subhuman. They chose to leave the country. 1959 revolution which abolished monarchy did little to solve the conflict among elites on both sides (note that: simple peasant from both tribes didn't have a problem with whoever was ruling the country. They have been paying the cost of the conflict caused by their elites). To this day elites of both tribes are still used by neocolonialist against interests of Rwanda actually of whole East Central Africa because Rwanda have been playing a big role in conflict that's going on in Congo.

no you should learn the Rwandan history verry well Before the colonial period the hutu and tutsi didn t exist us ethinic groups hutu and tutsi these were a terms which were used to discribe reach /masters and poor or servant it depend on which economic status you had in that specific time and you could easly shift from hutu to tutsi or from tutsi to hutu i have a planty examples of people who shift from one ethinic to another including the famous busyete whose is known by many Rwandans us well us many others. stop those elites theories. hutu/tutsi/twa were not ethinic group they were just social economic status. before the comming of the belgium

What you are saying is exactly the planned teachings of the colonial masters to devide and rule the Rwandese population.
