I highly reccommend checking out Mormon Stories. And the CES letter and Roughstone Rolling (the last of those was commissioned BY the church). Whatever your spiritual journey, I hope you find a way to leave LDS if possible-high control religions really restrict ppl from living happy and healthy lives. And you deserve to have a happy and healthy life.

Just because you may have a belief in a God in no way invalidates other peoples honest belief that your take on the almighty God as well as other gods don't exist. Society can never have an honest conversation when people are so resistant to basic concepts such as this. People believe all kinds of stuff that may or may not be reality. Stating someone is a liar because you don't think their belief is accurate, even if their belief is wrong, doesnt make that person a liar. They said what they believe so that is telling the truth. The part where god supposedly, according to Mormons, sent an "angel with sword drawn" to kill him unless he married a little 14 year old child is really interesting too. Oh then there is the fraud bank he set up that minted 3 dollar bills, "god" told him to do that too supposedly. Of course all mormons are required to say all their leaders have the magical ability to see into the future too if they want to get a temple recommend. And they pretend its not a destructive cult.

Ewan, I agree that we must know our history, but I am curious what you think has been changed. Certainly there are aspects that aren’t focused on when teaching the gospel, but I’m not aware of any changes per se. Can you please elaborate on this?
You’re right,@@ewankerr3011. The Book of Mormon has been changed. Depending on who you ask, there are anywhere from 3,000-5,000 differences. (Some people count errors made by the person hired to print the first edition, which is completely ridiculous.) The problem is that whatever number you use, what actually matters is the number of times the *meaning* of the text has been changed, and we do know that number exactly: twice. As for the history of the Church, I’d love to know what you’re talking about. There are literally trillions of events in the history of the Church. Is there anything specific you’re thinking of?

Everyone was herbalists in those days in that area, it was also an area with alot of Native American influence and everyone was starting a church. It’s a misinterpreted practicethat continues today. The Word of Wisdom is a suggestion to live a healthy life, and refraining from “hot drinks” probably refers to drinking coffee or tea eavery day as a habitual or addictive practice, which is absolutely unhealthy. Early church members also occasionally drank, although most of them gave up tobacco. It’s been misinterpreted since then to be a complete ban of the things mentioned instead of guidance to avoid overuse. It also mentions to eat meat sparingly if that helps to understand how people have cherry-picked and misinterpreted it.

I've search dis documentary story and I've seen the original documents.. later some of the church had find out the who write of the document against the churs is the one who stole the of the the manuscript... I've felt that you will know them by their fruit for the fruit of the gospel is good and the prophet stransgress more badly even him will fall but still he is always a prophet... 1. This is not a "testimony of those that were there" in the case of the first example in the video. It's a case of a story that circulated which Brigham chose to believe, thus his reliance on "witnesses". 2. William has not knowledge of any attempt to point Samuel, who died of illness and exposure following his fleeing the "Christians" who murdered his brothers at Carthage. 3. The notion, which was not recorded prior to Joseph's death, was also an opinion predicated on his position in the Church and relation to the Prophet. 4. "Even Joseph Smith wasn't exempted from accusations of poisoning" ... of course not. No person is "Exempt" from an accusation. Accusations are not charges or indictments. 5. William Law was an antagonist and a liar as well the proprietor of the Nauvoo Expositor. If you are going to quote his statements, you should explain his background so the listener gets an objective picture of his standing in the Church and when these statements were made so they can be viewed more critically. The book of mormon would have looked convincing to the people of the 19th century. That is how Smith built his religious celebrity. Not so today. Today we can see that thematically Smith definitely stole from Ethan Smiths Book of the Hebrews, and other books such as The Book of Napoleon and other literary works available to Smith at the time. We know also that Smith tried to insert himself as a prophet into genesis in his translation of the bible. We know ALSO that the foreword of the bom was changed to read that native Americans Indians are no longer the direct descendants of Lamanites. It now reads that the Indians are AMONG THE DESCENDANTS. I'd be tempted to disregard Brigham's accusation, except for two things: 1. there were so many accusations of poisoning at Nauvoo that it seems plausible. 2. the LDS champion both Emma and Brigham today, so it demonstrates the reality that they can't hold onto both.

@@bryanpratt5850 You've got to look at the motives behind lying. If you lied one time about kicking a dog when you were 7, then does that mean that you commit perjury each time you open your mouth? Of course not. Polygamy wasn't considered proper back then (as it is now). Emma was embarrassed by the fact that her husband practiced polygamy, so she lied about it to cover his dead butt. Does this mean that she poisoned Joseph? No. Does this mean that she didn't? No. Those are independent events. Now, did Brigham have a reason to dislike Emma? Yes. She was bringing his authority into question- and it centered around the polygamy issue. Emma earlier in life had been against polygamy, and in fact, Joseph had to disband the Relief Society because she was going against him and bashing polygamy and convincing women to avoid it at all costs. So, since Emma was such a large figure in the church and she went against polygamy that was a strong basis for a lot of the Brigamite sect's doctrines, then Brigham, wanting to shore up his validity in the eyes of the members, disparaged Emma by blaming her for a very real poisoning event. Now, the Mormon church today, as it was then, is still very messed up. But just because something fits with a narrative you want to tell doesn't make it a reality. It's like my belief about how tall Martin Luther was determining my ability to do physics. They are two independent events, and for those that cannot tolerate ambiguity and have an agenda (like Brigham did towards Emma) they will distort reality to fit a certain narrative. So, most Christians in America will believe every bad thing about Mormons they hear, because it fits the narrative that Mormons are wrong and a perversion of Christianity. Just because one bug was found in an In-and-Out burger, doesn't mean that every burger has a bug- or that animal style fries are garbage. Y'all are just a different kind of credulous. Read what Bible Scholars who've seriously and rather thoroughly researched it and the history surrounding it about its authenticity. Protestantism doesn't hold up either. Nor does pretty much any Christianity as we know it. And don't get me started on the old testament, where we have a tribal god that isn't even held to be the only god within the text by the original authors. It's basically a tale of tribal chauvinism of wandering desert tribes that somehow got passed on and muddled through various other workings and traditions. Atheism is also misguided but it's the best option for people who don't know better but otherwise realized most organized religion has serious issues in their truth claims. There's now a vacuum in Western Civilization left by it. Only the Christian mystics seem properly able to claim authenticity as opposed to dogmatic credulity.

God never chose prophets who studied and continued to practice black magic while cultivating a new religion. Joseph took practice s from an extremely maligned organization called Free Masonry and used it to create many of the Temple ceremonies and to decorate the SLC temple of all places. All people are sinners, but those prophets of old, of the true scriptures would always repent. Joseph never repented from his witch craft ways. And there's so much more. Like multiple first vision accounts and the discrepancy of one then two personages as Joseph changed his view on the Trinity. The 1830 version of the Book of Mormon is loaded with Trinity references until the 1837 version wiped away those passages. Then we have the translation of the Book of Mormon involving no golden plates but rather the seer stone in a hat method. The same seer stone Joseph never returned to another treasure hunter, which is what Joseph used it for. Joseph went on trial for deceiving people as a treasure digger. And a seer is not a prophet. Seers are of the occult. Don't forget Joseph's quotes about doing more than Jesus for mankind. Blasphemy!! Also, the Book of Abraham is a complete fraud. The church excommunicated people for saying as much for a very long time. But now the church will NOT excommunicate for it. The brethren know it's a fraud. There are only two people left who are apologists for the church regarding the Book of Abraham. The rest have switched positions. John Gee and Carey Muhlstein are the only two apologists. The church wants them to stop. It's an unwinnable position. Gee was taken off the Neal A. Maxwell Institute. And Reformed Egyptian? No such thing. Joseph can't be a prophet when he doesn't know who the Godhead is. Brigham Young can't be a prophet either. A prophet of God knows who God is. Brigham taught God the Father was Adam in the Garden of Eden. He also labelled it a salvation issue. And the so called mormon prophets of the 20th century go against all of that. Contradictions abound for these seers and revelators. Brigham Young taught hatred and death to blacks and interracial relationships. Joseph ordained a few black persons to the priesthood but Brigham taught they were a mongrel race. Brigham also taught Blood Atonement and that Christ wasn't enough to save but Mormon murder was. @ancientpathstv sir as a pastor I thought that you would respect a person of faith. Our Savior taught that knowledge and truth come from prayer and faith. Your response indicates that you are a man who seeks truth from men rather than from God. I do not believe that you took the time to fully read what I wrote and that you never pondered what I stated.

And if you want to accuse a man of evil doing that, you study his life... not from his enemies' perception alone but also the perception of his friends. Study his good works, not just the accusations of his enemies. Ask yourself, "Would you or anyone that you know personally submit themselves to the persecution of mobs, of criminal injustice, and death ? If all you had to do was to deny visions? If all you had to do was to say that the Book of Mormon was made up? Would you choose to be driven out of your home at gunpoint? To be tarred and feathered? I have to say about this, these are men and women of flesh This is the year 2023. And with the world, the way it is today, the most important thing is, Is to follow Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ only. These past people are dead, and they will answer for their sins, true or false actions will come to light on the day of judgment, just like each one of us will, so I will say be the best person you can be , love your neighbor, repent as much as possible, be humble and pray for Christ, so he will come and stop the madness on this earth. There is so much to do and much happiness to enjoy. Keep the faith. I will not let people from the past get in the way of my future life with my heavenly father and Jesus Christ. I was born Mormon I believe what you say but I think it's naive to think that any of the past religious leaders of any Faith Catholic any face are good wholesome men and again very very naive to think that your Bible hasn't been changed or hasn't had parts redacted out of it especially when evil men had a hand in the printing of it
