As a Vikings fan he could be the franchise QB. He looked great against the falcons and he was the only bright spot on the 1-7 Cardinals. He’s played well when given the chance
My thoughts exactly. To everyone who keeps saying "he's not a franchise quarterback, just a good backup" I say "he hasn't been given a legitimate chance to shine yet, so don't assume you know his limitations". Yes, we need to see more than one game from him, but given how brilliantly he played by the end of that game, I see huge untapped potential there.
As a diehard Tennessee Volunteers (and Titans) fan, I can say with a fair amount of insight, that Dobbs can be an excellent backup if he has the talent around him...and perhaps grow into a franchise QB. He kept being thrown into one chitty situation after another....including his time with the Titans last year. I thought the Titans should have kept him to be the #2 guy this season, because he is heads and shoulders above Malik Willis. I think he is in a much better position, now, because he has a playoff caliber team surrounding him, with the Vikings. He's a fierce competitor who is able to put a team on his back and pull a victory from the jaws of defeat...as you saw on Sunday. I wish you Viking fans much success this season.
The dude should just be the first NFL contractor QB. Never sign more than a 1 year deal and then scoop up one year contracts at a premium when a franchise QB inevitably gets hurt.
The weird thing about about saying that he's not a franchise quarterback is that he was playing behind people who also aren't franchise quarterbacks. I mean the opportunities that the Steelers could have provided him put just decided not to and give it to Mason Rudolph was a dumb idea on them. It's just one of those times where you have somebody who just needs the opportunity and maybe something great will come out of it. The Vikings could be an amazing opportunity for him. He doesn't really have to win a Super Bowl but go to the playoffs and we'll start questioning if Kirk Cousins still needs to be there at the end of his contract.
having watched so much dobbs film after we signed him, i felt like this was coming. love to be proven right about a guy and especially so when hes as likeable as josh. let's go skol nation!
Come on now… it was one game. Let’s see after at least 3 games. I’m a diehard Vikes fan but I’m on the fence. Atlanta game was great but I want to see two more games…
